QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 28, 2014 -> 11:32 AM) But who are we realistically willing to give up for him? Alexei Ramirez, if Tulo's traded? Therein lies the problem...for example, would you be willing to give up Anderson or Montas or Danish for him when you could sign someone in the free agent market without giving up that kind of talent? I kinda doubt he'd cost that much....I am however having a hard time thinking up a deal that'd make sense though, so you do have a point.....

While we're hijacking threads....Justin Morneau was placed on waivers then claimed by the Brewers but a deal wasn't done. If they're open to trading him in the offseason, which they seemingly would be, I'd hope the Sox do what they can to get him to the South Side. He seems to be back to form to an extent just sans the big power. .343/.389/.540 vs RHP this year and for those who wanna bring up playing in Colorado, he's hitting .325/.376/.500 on the road this year. He's also got a pretty friendly contract. 6.75M next year and a 9M option for 2016. Gimme Morneau, upgrade LF and call it day offensively.

Snodgress faced 3 more LH hitters today, still no hits. Could have ourselves a strict loogy on our hands.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!

Almost comical that this thread only has 3 posts. Solid W. 3 of the core carried the offense with 8 of the 10 hits by Eaton, Abreu, and Conor....Dunn gets a big hit vs good pitching, something that he's oddly good for. Noesi, Guerra, and Putnam, 3 guys I wouldn't be surprised to see on the team next year, all pitched well as well. 3 more wins to match last years win total with 30 to go. -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 11:00 PM) I'd say that's bad news if you are the Royals. If he's ever going to get hot, it's against them who he owned during his career. Those four games are going to likely be huge for KC probably. If I'm KC I do not cut Chen until after that series. He has to start a game if you are KC. The last 4 years PK has hit .230 vs the Royals in 222 Abs soooo ya, there's that.

If only the Sox were in the NL....He'd be 1 RBI behind Stanton and .004 points behind Morneau(there's a bit of a shocker) for the triple threat.

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 10:19 PM) good win it's nice to see future pieces like Hector, Adam, Avi and Jose contributing. Don't care either way about the bullpen moves it doesn't move the needle. Dumb s*** like hit and run with Conor and Tyler does however and that's why I can't stand Robin and he needs to go. I will say that that was a little odd. I don't really see s*** like that too often out of him though honestly. But it's easy to say it happens a lot after something like that happened.

A W! Gotta put youre best reliever out there in that situation...not sure why you guys questioned it...good call RV.

Who'd you put in here?

Fire Tito!! What was he doing leaving his ace out there that long!! What a clueless manager!

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 08:18 PM) Flowers manages to somehow hit worse with the bases loaded. False, he's now batting .250 with the bases loaded this year
-
Adam Dunn not only made Kluber pitch to Abreu, but also did some damage himself. 7 for 21 now against Kluber with a HR and 2 doubles. Adam Dunn hits good pitching.
-
QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 04:25 PM) Against Corey Kluber? yeah, ok. Streak will be at 8 tonight. Ya, dudes been a beast. Post all star break he's got a 1.15 ERA and a .172 BAA. That said baseball is a funny game so who knows.....Dunn is hitting .317/.409/.525 in 19 ABs against em. Again, funny game.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 27, 2014 -> 12:06 PM) Bassit just got roughed up in his last outing. And Zaleski is nothing more than good story.
-
I'm game for Zaleski, but I also wouldn't mind Bassit comin up from AA...Give em a day to be with Coop and kinda give the org a better idea where they should start him next year. If he does well I'd start him in AAA, if not, give him some time in AA.

I'd love to snag Latos....I've also wondered if Homer Bailey (I know he's not mentioned) is the guy Hahn was talking about who they've always liked who they almost traded for. Somethin like Semien/Montas+ might snatch one of those guys.

At what point is this season not considered a success?
2nd_city_saint787 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I went with the 1st one. All I'm asking for is a 5 game improvement. Way I see it is even with an average pen we're looking at at least a 10 game improvement overall this year.....A "10 game improvement" with a whole lot of money to spend leads me to believe they're heading in the right direction. -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 26, 2014 -> 10:59 PM) Robin should quit after this season and give another former player a shot at it. He deserves a break from this bullpen madness. Make him third base coach for a season if he wants to be in a big league uniform, still. Hopefully whoever is here next year, Robin or not, doesn't have to deal with "bullpen madness".
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 26, 2014 -> 10:57 PM) I know it's just hyperbole, but didn't Hawk and Stoney both at some point this season say, "These guys will NEVER quit." Also that the Sox were in it for the long haul this season. A contender? Doesn't matter, as I like them both, but contenders? You'd think they were the Royals' announcers lying like that. For a month or 2 they always seemed to be in late games and didn't quite. That has gone by the wayside. The Offense has certainly stumbled lately but man, that pen has to be a buzzkill for this whole team. Even when the offense and starting pitching seemingly do their job it's never enough...That's gotta be deflating.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 26, 2014 -> 10:45 PM) The way it's going, I'm not sure he can even be counted on as anything more than a long reliever next year. As I'm sure you can tell, I hate his offspeed stuff/lack of command. I think he's fine as a middle reliever. I'd like to see a closer and a setup man brought in next year....If they plan on "goin for it".

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 26, 2014 -> 10:44 PM) Petricka was a second round draft pick? Why? His height? Seems pretty ordinary to me. Not this again.

That had Tito written all over it. Nice HR by Francona, bad pitch by Robin.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 26, 2014 -> 10:34 PM) If Sox can't beat these guys at home to end the streak, I don't know what to say. If Bella comes in, look out. But, but, Francona.

2014 Fantasy Football Thread

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Aug 26, 2014 -> 10:11 PM) Dude, no. Cameron is a useful piece you probably drafted in the mid-rounds to be your starting TE. Don't drop him just because he's on a bye. If anything, drop Celek after week 4 because you're not going to need a 2nd TE the rest of the year unless Cameron gets hurt (in which case you can probably go get Celek again). You also seem to be set on carrying two QB's even though there are enough of them that you should be able to find a serviceable one on the waiver wire. That really hurts you in a league with a short bench relative to the starting lineup like this one. Being stubborn like that makes you do silly things like drop Jordan Cameron because you insist on carrying Joe f***ing Flacco. And I continue to make whoopsies.....Dump Celek after Camerons bye. I love Jays fantasy potential but I know he's a huge injury risk. I actually like Flacco this year now that Pitta is back and they brought in Owen Daniels and Steve Smith. After I swap Celek for a WR I'll have 2 WRs and 2 RBs, I should be fine.
