  1. No Rodon is a bit of a surprise, but I'm fine with that....Also cool with Taylor over Mitchell. I wanna continue to see Noesi get starts so it would appear that Bassitt gets Carrolls starts. Unless they shut Danks down or went with a 6 man rotation there wasn't gonna be room for both Bassitt and Rodon. We kinda already know what to expect with Rodon but Bassitt is still a mystery.
  2. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 2, 2014 -> 01:11 PM) I really don't think the White Sox have the starting pitching depth at this point to be trading Quintana, unless they are blown away with an offer. Looking at next year, you currently have Sale, Quintana and Danks... and who? Some two from this list: Hector Noesi Carlos Rodon Erik Johnson Chris Beck Scott Carroll Bassitt is, to my eyes, a reliever (and could be a good one). So I don't include him. Looking at those five, Rodon likely makes it, and Noesi can work as a #5. But that isn't exactly an ideal rotation anyway. Between Johnson and Beck, you'd think one of them may turn into something, but you don't know. If you trade Quintana, you really have a major pitching problem unless you acquire another arm. That's why I think it all depends on whether or not they plan on going for it in 2015 or 2016....Come 2016 you should also be looking at Danish/Montas, with Adams, who looks really advanced for his age, not that far behind...Potentially another college arm could be drafted in the draft as well....Plus no matter whether they go for it next year or in 2016 they should probably get back a high end arm in any Q trade (Unless they get back 2 high end bats). Disagree about Bassitt also BTW....Didn't show it in his start Saturday but as a starter dude has been good in the minors.
  3. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 2, 2014 -> 06:04 AM) I could go either way on a Q trade. I think if the Sox want to compete next year and sign say James Shields, you keep Q. If you are waiting one more year, I'd be fine with selling high. I agree with this and this also depends on the FOs thoughts on Montas/Danish/Beck/Bassitt/Johnson/Noesi. If the plan is to go for it in 2016 and they can get a stud bat and front/mid rotation starter+ to go with Sale-Rodon and 2 of those guys or 1 of those guys and a FA SP then it might make some sense to trade Q. It'd have to something redunkulous though...I'm talkin Seagar/Urias or one of the Cubs bats and Edwards. His contract at hiis age/talent level has to get them a kings ransom.
  4. Adam Dunn in his time with the White Sox was 13th in HRs and 45th in RBIs....And that includes 2011...Eliminating 2011 and he ranks 4th and 26th in those categories..... I understand hating the Ks and the low BA and all that jazz, but like it or not those numbers tell me he produced. Went 2-3 with a HR and 2 ribs in his first game.
  5. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 1, 2014 -> 10:57 AM) I can't think of many practice squads that are exciting There were some guys out there to make it interesting...Sam, Lynch, etc. etc. But ya you're right.
  6. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 1, 2014 -> 09:50 AM) Bears practice squad WR Josh Bellamy OL Taylor Boggs DT Brandon Dunn CB Isaiah Frey LB Dede Lattimore OL Ryan Groy CB Al Louis-Jean CB Terrance Mitchell DT Roy Philon WR Rashad Ross Pretty boring sans Mitchell who I remember being highly thought of in the draft before pulling a hammy. Think he was 2nd-3rd round projected.
  7. 5 Shutout innings now.....Really hope he starts in AA next year. Take out his 1st 3 games in WS (We'll call it an adjusting period) and the guy has a 1.73 ERA in 14 starts....I'd say he's ready. Combine those numbers with his Kanny numbers and he's got a 1.38 ERA in 111 IP with a 92/27 K/BB rate.
  8. If they think Mcah is an everyday 2B then I'd open to selling high on Gillaspie and inserting Semien over there.....A good SP, LF, DH, or a closer(oh the irony), would be nice.
  9. That had to be the easiest 9th inning all year! Nice job Jake.....W
  10. QUOTE (1dog @ Aug 31, 2014 -> 03:59 PM) How many times did you say you were done with this? I lost count. Lol it's different now
  11. Oh boy, already a shift for Wilkins....Can't wait for the "Just bunt!" crowd to get on him.
  12. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 31, 2014 -> 03:01 PM) How has Wilkins looked? Like Adam Dunn =p....It's only 1 game though.
  13. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 31, 2014 -> 01:43 PM) Am I crazy for thinking one of Montes or Danish will be in the rotation by the end of the year? Wouldn't be surprised at all. Both should start the year at AA, so it's not crazy to think 1 or both could be knocking on the door.
  14. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 31, 2014 -> 01:30 PM) No way, he is safe fixed that for ya
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 31, 2014 -> 12:54 PM) Shoulda happened a month ago. Perhaps Hahn wasn't getting what he wanted a month ago....Nothing to base this on at all, but I think the reason it happened on the very last day it could have happened is because Hahn was playing hard ball and the A's finally caved.
  16. QUOTE (OsweGo-Go Sox @ Aug 31, 2014 -> 11:35 AM) Did Abreu pick up some tweak that I missed? Third game in a row at DH. Tweaked his hammy a few games ago. I never really cared for the "He's old for this level so he's no good" argument so I'm hoping Wilkins is legit.....Was it Wilkins or Black that Hawk was raving about in ST?
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 31, 2014 -> 11:07 AM) I am interested to see if they move this kid back to starting. That's what I'm hoping for. By the reports I've read he has the secondary stuff to do it.
  18. Why would a playoff team want him for the stretch run and give up one of their 10-12 best prospect, if he sucked and isn't good enough to be on a winning team?
  19. 12th rated prospect in the A's system per mlb.com.....10th by baseball america BA called his slider a potential plus pitch, and mlb likes his curve....I'm hoping the Sox work with him and get em to start again. Glad Hahn held out for a good piece. I knew he wouldn't be traded for a PTBNL or $$. Dunn had value.
  20. I'm gonna miss the big guy. I think guys like him have a place in a good offense. Oakland has or had the top ranked offense and they had 2 guys who were Dunn-esque in their lineup and now it likes like they're adding Dunn. If push came to shove and the Sox miss out on other DH candidates I'd welcome him back with open arms.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 30, 2014 -> 09:29 PM) If they're letting Garcia bat here, it says to mean Dunn's being traded. Meh, if it were still a 1 run game I'd say no doubt.
