  1. To add to those reports Blackmar- http://www.oriolesuncensored.com/2014/07/2...couting-chatter Chalas- http://orioles-nation.com/players/miguel-chalas/
  2. Looks like Delmar can field his position....
  3. Blackmar as a starter this year has a 2.79 ERA with a 1.09 WHIP in 18 starts. Glad to see we seemingly got something decent for De Aza as I see him as a solid hitter.
  4. Blackmar looks fairly decent. Chalas? not so much......Montas looked awful though too sooo.
  5. Merkin said he hasn't heard anything about it FWIW.
  6. Northwestern showin some life in the 2nd half, making things very interesting. Andddd they drop an easy 4th down conversion..... Well damn, valiant effort by the Cats to make things interesting.
  7. QUOTE (1dog @ Aug 30, 2014 -> 02:04 PM) For those who want VM, please give me a list of 36 year old guys that just signed big contracts and their subsequent stats. It just never seems like it's worth it to me. Tough to really come up with a list that specific, wouldn't know where to start. There have been many a guys who have produced well over the age of 35. Raul Ibanez had 29 HRs as a 41 year old. Torii Hunter is still productive at 38. Beltran was an All star last year at 36. David Ortiz has 30 bombs at the age of 37. Jeter was good till he turned 38. Victor Martinez is a professional hitter. If everything is as it seems and Hahn feels like this team can compete with a good offseason, then Victor Martinez should be at the top of that list.
  8. Not that it really means anything, just need 2 more wins to match last years total with a month to go.
  9. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 30, 2014 -> 02:28 PM) Another base hit. He's at .320 now. You don't necessarily have to hope for them to slump, but rather for Abreu to continue his pace. Wasn't he at .305 4-5 days ago? Ya, I edited out that last line right as you were typing. Gonna be fun to keep an eye on the last month.
  10. Good call by Robin. Once a runner gets on vs Bella it turns all to hell. Guy who brought up his struggles with runners on before the season couldn't have been more right.
  11. Also gotta factor in Martinez, Cano, and Beltre when talking about the batting title. Altuve- .332 VMart- .330 Cano- .327 Beltre- .327 Abreu- .320
  12. QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 30, 2014 -> 01:38 PM) According to WAR, it's his worst season since 2000. Touche...Guess his D isn't as good as he made it appear on that play (-19.2 D-WAR)...Still ranked 77th in the league in O-WAR with a 6.4. (I think I used those O/D WAR terms correctly lol)
  13. Torii Hunter, showing people you can play the game of baseball past age 35.
  14. QUOTE (Dunt @ Aug 30, 2014 -> 12:18 PM) This game is already over QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 30, 2014 -> 01:12 PM) I don't get why these teams keep pitching to Abreu with an open base. He'll get to 100 tonight. Cuz of that.....That's Dunns 4th against Max.....Adam Dunn hits good pitching.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 30, 2014 -> 10:01 AM) My question is why would Victor Martinez want to leave Detroit for Chicago? If I were the Tigers I'd be looking to open up DH for Miggy. 2 years in a row now his body has been broken down and it'd be wise to get him off the field.
  16. Victor Martinez...Professional hitter. I want.
  17. QUOTE (peavy44 @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 10:54 PM) I take him he can protect abreu. lol you said he was too old in the game thread......A game thread in which I said I hope Thome, who's apparently close to him, helps recruit him here after Hawk was talking about those 2. I'd obviously love it. Dude is a professional hitter, the type of guy who's gonna keep hitting well into his late 30's...Or at least I'd hope if the Sox end up getting him.
  18. Hopefully Thome can recruit VMart to the South Side.
