  1. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Aug 26, 2014 -> 10:17 PM) Apparently Robin is saving Dunn for when it really matters... sigh. What the problem is?
  2. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 26, 2014 -> 09:47 PM) Why does Hawk think Sanchez looks like Ordonez? He looks more like Avi with the air let out. They all look like they could be brothers honestly.
  3. Think I did much better in my 2nd of 3 leagues this year. (Reading through this thread has better prepared me the 2nd go around) QB- Cutler WR- Johnson WR- Edleman WR- Wright RB- Ball RB- Gerhart (What are thoughts on him this year?) TE- Cameron Felx- J. Bell Bench- Moreno, West, Watkins, Celek, Flacco. Made yet another oopsies with byes. Johnson and Wright both have week 9 byes, and on top of that I only have 1 WR on the bench. Cameron has a week 4 bye so I'll just dump Celek for a WR after that. Would like to keep Flacco simply because of Jay's injury history.
  4. At the time of Sanchez's promotion, Semien was only batting .223 against RHP. That's why I think the Sox were down on him.....5 days later he's up to .251. Danish was meh today, probably because I failed to have 2 danishes today (Thursdays my bros bday so I moved my cheat day, so I can also blame my brother).
  5. I blame RV. Typical August collapse!
  6. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Aug 26, 2014 -> 05:17 PM) If the Braves were really interested in Jackson, anyone think they could be interested in Danks or at least were at one time? Jackson's ERA is a full run higher than Danks while pitching in the NL. Jackson and Danks contracts end after the 2016 season. Hard to imagine the Braves not being interested. I believe there was a rumor out there about Danks to the Braves. Not sure if it was true or not. But ya, if they're interested in Jackson, they'd be interested in Danks.
  7. Upon further review, guy destroys LHP, which is indeed a plus, but he's not that good against RHP. Before looking at his splits I would have been game for giving up a guy like Montas, but now, forget about it if that's what it takes.
  8. If they can get a LH bat elsewhere I'd be all for Gattis at DH.
  9. Gordons career will go the same way as the guy he pretty much replaced in Anaheim, John McDonald. I know people will point out that fangraphs says Beckham isn't a great fielder, but comparing the 2 he's not much worse than McDonald has been the past few years. McDonald has played in the bigs 16 years and is a career .233/.273/.322 hitter.
  10. Bassit was smashed =( 3.2 innings 10 hits 5ER 3BB 1K Only 2 XBHs though, so there's that I guess,
  11. Good stuff as always NSS, now hopefully he doesn't get hurt like Beck did. Hopefully he starts out next year at A+ then goes from there. If he continues to smash, I could care less if he's 27 when he reaches the bigs.
  12. QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 25, 2014 -> 01:56 PM) The only problem is, it means the Sox need 6 new bullpen pitchers. That is a tall order in one year. I'd say right now Putnam, Petricka, and Guerra are all locks. Webb probably sticks around for at least a month or 2. The rest are such a mystery. If the Sox think they can compete, I'm all about trying to sign/trade for a closer, a good LH reliever, and a straight up loogy. Even 3 new additions is a tall order in one year, but I hope it happens.
  13. I'd simply like to see the record improved from last year....4 more wins to get to last seasons mark, 32 games to go. Go 9-23 and I'm happy with a 5 game improvement despite this horrid bullpen. With an average pen we're probably looking at a 10+ game improvement (Not 10 to add to the 5, but 10 overall). I think they'll do a bit better than that once Eaton gets back though, and I have 0 problem with that.
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 24, 2014 -> 09:57 PM) Was Buck available? He's done wonders in Baltimore. He's one of the few difference makers on the bench IMO. I wouldn't mind Thome. That would be cool if we have to keep picking ex-Sox. And Ozzie as his third base coach! Bring it on. That said, I do feel sorry for Robin and can stomach him being skipper the next 10 years or so. Why? Cause he's been given this horrific roster. Robin does know baseball, folks. Believe that at least. Showalter took over the O's job in 2010, so no....Also worth noting he had a 93 loss team his first full year there.
  15. Welp.... I've dumped Marvin Jones for Justin Hunter, Mark Ingram(wtf?) for Devonta Freeman, and Ebron for Hartline.... Yup, that happened.
  16. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Aug 24, 2014 -> 09:11 PM) That speaks poorly of your Stafford pick then. If you could still get a QB like RGIII in the 11th, you took your first QB too early. Even after you took Stafford, I'm sure you could have selected someone that would play more than one week for you in the 11th. It's usually difficult to get value in a trade for a QB because there are a bunch of decent ones. If RGIII was still there in the 11th, that strongly implies that your league doesn't really value quarterbacks. Hunter helps, though I actually meant Kendall WRIGHT. Somehow I morphed the two into one player. Especially for PPR, he's a very good mid-round pick. Admittedly he might have gone earlier since it's PPR, but he was merely an example. The point is you really needed SOMEONE more dependable as your #3 WR. You're going to be hurting in bye weeks between your WR/flex because of it. With Ebron, you're taking a guy that's unlikely to crack your lineup again. A lot of guys don't carry two TE's much less three. You could just have easily have taken a high upside WR, and that guy would likely out-produce Ebron. There's a pretty good chance that he doesn't produce what Kenny Stills did last year, and that's a guy that still has upside as well. As it is, you not only need Ebron to hit, you need to find a way to extract value for a middle-tier TE in trade to maximize the return on it. You're creating more work than you have to. It's possible it could still work with trades or pickups, but you sacrificed depth at a crucial position in PPR for depth at positions where you don't really need as much depth. I got Stafford in the 6th, right after Brady and Luck went off the board, so I expected there to be a run. And I guess I'll just have to wait and see. I'm around the computer 24/7 so I can work the waiver wire if need be. I don't think Shorts is a bad WR3, and I think Chip Kelly is gonna find a way to make Sproles a decent flex option. You guys are making me reconsider the Ebron pick though....My love for him as an athlete may have clouded my judgement. ....BTW, this is why I posted in here so much last year, I'm not that good at this lol.
  17. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Aug 24, 2014 -> 07:26 PM) Is this a 2 QB league? If not, that's a poor use of assets. You could have drafted a much-needed receiver and still grabbed a competent backup late (or not take one at all). Obviously ignore that if it is a two QB league. I also agree with Tru, in a PPR league with two flex, you needed more/better receivers. You've really only got 3 right now since it'll be several weeks before Jones is back on the field. V-Jax is solid but inconsistent, and Smith isn't as good in a PPR league (career high of 65 receptions). I'd like your team a lot more if you had someone like Kendall Hunter as your 3rd receiver. Even a low-ceiling guy like Brian Hartline would significantly help your WR depth. Like Tru said, I'd drop Ebron and try to grab another decent receiver. I can't imagine you're ever going to use him, and rookie TE's typically struggle. RGIII was there in the 11th round, I couldn't pass on that that late. He or Stafford could be traded for a WR if need be. I was unaware of Jones being out since he didn't have a cross next to him. I dumped him for Hunter. Ebron is just gonna be a wait and see guy. I absolutely loved what I saw from him when I was "scouting the NFL draft" and think he has the potential to be a monster...Which would then make Davis/Reed available.
  18. The thought was there, the results were not. Bashing the idea is all done in hindsight.
  19. QUOTE (TRU @ Aug 24, 2014 -> 06:14 PM) WRs are very weak, RBs outside of AP and Gio are questionable. I would suggest looking into Jeremy Hill, Carlos Hyde, Devonta Freeman, Andre Williams at RB and then Justin Hunter at WR if they are out there. Ebron has been very iffy from early reports and you already have 2 TEs so why have him? I really like Ellington this year, actually took him in the 3R, and I'm real interested in seeing what Chip Kelly does with Sproles. Going RB back to back to back did somewhat hurt my WR position, but I wouldn't call it very weak. Not flashy, but not bad. Had debated between Hunter and Jones in the last round. With 2 WRs and 2 RBs also on the bench why not snag a guy like Ebron who has huge upside IMO.
  20. Just finished up a PPR draft that I'm real happy with. QB- Stafford/RGIII WR- VJax WR- T. Smith RB- AP RB- Gio TE- Davis Flex- Ellington Flex- Reed D- Seattle K- Gostlowski Sproles, Ingram, Shorts, Ebron, Marvin Jones. Only whoopsies I made was Ellington and Gio both have week 4 byes
  21. Since we're not ignoring this.... http://boston.cbslocal.com/2011/11/16/repo...aking-2012-off/ Francona was not an option.
  22. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 24, 2014 -> 01:08 PM) Bradford is hurt again...so they may run the ball a lot this year as well. Yikes, out for the year....This only makes the decision a little harder. From a talent standpoint Vereen>>>Stacy IMO, but you're right, with Bradford hurt again they could pound the rock a ton. I'm torn here. I guess if I was in your position, and it was a PPR I'd do it. Fitz for Maclin pushes me over the edge.
  23. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Aug 24, 2014 -> 03:41 PM) Ventura can't think 2 moves ahead. EVERYONE knew that Ventura had just put the bat in McCann's hands...except for Ventura. His utter incompetence is stunning. McCann is not your typical LHH. He's hitting just .208/.265/.324 vs RHP. Headly has an OPS almost .100 points higher vs RHP than McCann.
