  1. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 10:07 PM) Rice and Dawson are the two guys in recent memory whose inductions bother me. And when I saw that Dawson had a chance, I thought "If Rice is in, I guess Dawson will get in, too." And the voters won't let Blyleven in. Blyleven will get in next year. He fell like four votes short.
  2. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 07:01 PM) That's Jon Heyman's s*** reasoning for why it's an acceptable package of players. Heyman is the worst baseball writer out there. For proof, just check out his Hall of Fame ballot this year. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writ...hall/index.html
  3. This is highway robbery. I can't believe that's all Arizona got.
  4. QUOTE (TomPickle @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 05:52 PM) It seems that Hank Conger is likely to be the PTBNL, he's on the DL right now. If that's the case the trade looks better for Arizona. Still a great deal for the Angels though.
  5. I highly doubt Trout is the PTBNL. Seeing that trade makes me dissapointed Kenny wasn't after him. I would have traded Hudson + Viciedo for Haren.
  6. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 05:40 PM) Ok. I wasnt sure if the PTBNL in that trade was Gio or that other lefty (forget his name, had really good numbers in the minors but wound up doing nothing). Haigwood
  7. I can't believe that's all the Diamondbacks got for Haren. What a steal for the Angels.
  8. With all the talk about how great a seson Pods is having, his WAR is just 0.9 right now.
  9. No matter what anybody thinks about Hudson, he needs to pitch well, as there is absolutely no other major league ready pitching prospects in the system.
  10. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 11:21 AM) Luke Scott and it's not even close. Brad Hawpe's name is also getting thrown out there now. The problem here is that Hawpe is a DH and a DH only. He's no better than Quentin out in RF. Plus you're taking him out of Coors.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 10:06 AM) He could be depending on how long he lasts. To me, he was just so dominant for about a five year stretch, and IMO that should be enough to get him in. He should have three Cy Young awards (should have won over Colon in 2005), which would basically make him a lock.
  12. I know it was discussed when the voting results were announced, but I just wanted to take one last chance to say that it's a joke that Andre Dawson is going into the Hall of Fame.
  13. Am I the only person who thinks Johan Santana is a hall of famer?
  14. Hey guys, first time posting in the Soxtalk Gym. Long story short, about a month ago I decided I want to live a healthier lifestyle and lose some weight. Right now I'm about 6 foot and 225 pounds. For the past few weeks I've been trying to jog every day for about 1-1.5 miles. In the past week I've also started doing 100 situps and 100 curls about four times per week. I also play in a hockey league once a week, and that's a great workout. If I do this consistently, I should be able to see some results right? My main problem is I'm a picky eater, and I eat a lot of bad food (pizza, fast food, etc.). But, I'm going to try to get some more fruits into my diet. I used to drink a ton of pop, and I've actually cut that out. Right now all I drink is gatorade or water.
  15. Flowers with another bad night. I've been really disappointed in him this season.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 05:02 PM) Who would be our 5th starter the rest of the way (and don't forget the uncertainty that Garcia can hold up the rest of this season) We would just have to live with somebody like Torres throwing BP every fifth day. I would be willing to live with that to get a guy like Fielder in his prime.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 04:58 PM) If it's Fielder, that's one thing. If he gives up Hudson or Beckham for Dunn, it will make me hate the front office's decision to not bring back Thome even more. I'm fine with giving up Hudson if we get Fielder in return. In no way would I trade him for Dunn.
  18. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 04:27 PM) Anyone looking for something to replace the volume with: Norm Macdonald at the ESPYs http://deadspin.com/5196193/espn-will-neve...r-do-this-again http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yC6TbH_Yzd4 Deadspin posted that a couple weeks ago. Absolutely hilarious.
  19. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 07:49 AM) The crazy thing is, if the draft were done over today, Tim Beckham wouldn't sniff the Top 10. Gordon, Posey, Alvarez, Smoak, Wallace, Matusz, Castro, Alonso, Davis, and Kelly are all guys in the first round who could go before him in a re-draft. Imagine if the Rays had drafted Posey or Gordon...wow. Tampa Bay has to be kicking themselves for drafting Tim Beckham.
  20. How the hell are the Cubs on Sunday Night Baseball three weeks in a row?
  21. QUOTE (Real @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 11:54 AM) Pretty obvious He has much less trade value as a DH, than say a possible 1B or 3B He's going to have more trade value as a DH rather than sitting on the bench every day.
  22. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZrFzGbM_g4Y The George Brett pine tar incident. Watching it never gets old.
  23. Bard just broke up Lackey's no-no with two outs in the eighth.
  24. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 22, 2010 -> 01:35 AM) How is this possible? What the hell do the Cards have in their system that Houston could possibly want? Carpenter/Wainwright/Oswalt. That's kinda scary come October. Shelby Miller is the only legitimate guy they have. He would have to be in the deal.
