  1. Is anyone else having trouble on ESPN.com? Every time I go to it to check my fantasy team my browser stops working. They just changed their site, hopefully they're just working out the kinks.
  2. Anybody see Quentin's takeout of Hardy at second last night? Wasn't as bad as Young's bush league play, but it was a cheap shot.
  3. Please, please, win tonight. At least make the rest of the season interesting. Unfortunately, I don't see it happening.
  4. And our starting pitching fails to show up, and when Floyd is bad, our awful manager refuses to pull him.
  5. Typical that Thome would be the one to f*** us in the ass. f*** YOU OZZIE!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 14, 2010 -> 11:05 PM) Ever power line for coho in the spring? Nope, only been salmon fishing during the fall.
  7. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 13, 2010 -> 09:21 AM) My dad and I have a boat out in Monroe harbor. I think over the last 2-3 years, we've spent DAYS of collective time trying to catch salmon out in the lake, and have caught exactly one. We've tried to research the best times, the best places, the best lures, etc, but no luck. Not sure what the issue is. Were you trolling? During late September/early October, you can catch them off shore using spoons or salmon eggs.
  8. About time we had a fishing thread. I don't go a whole lot, but I do go to a lot of local lakes looking for bass. I'll probably head out to Lake Shabbona in the next few days. If anybody wants to have a really good time, I recommend salmon fishing on Lake Michigan. During the fall you can catch them off shore.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 03:07 PM) There's some guy named R. Williams in Charlotte who could be an option. Never heard of him, but he has a 1.80 ERA. Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. I think Bowman did the right thing here. Turco is just as good as Niemi, but he's cheaper. He may very well put up better numbers with the Hawks.
  11. I just finished watching the entire series of The Wire. It might be the best show ever made.
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 03:28 PM) Casey Blake for Carlos Santana says hi. Forgot about that one. But at least LA got a solid 3B there, not a mediocre reliever. This deal puts Brandon Allen for Tony Pena to shame.
  13. This may go down as one of the worst deadline deals of all time.
  14. Looking like Ted Lilly and Ryan Theriot are going to the Dodgers for DeWitt and other pieces.
  15. From Cowley's Twitter Sounds like they weren't high on him at all. And I know most people here hate Cowley, but I love the guy. He's hilarious.
  16. I like this Jackson trade. He's got great stuff and he's 26. He's not as bad as his ERA indicates. 4.27 FIP, .318 BABIP. His fly ball rate is only 30%. People overrated Hudson on this board, he was a no. 3 starter-at best.
  17. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 07:08 PM) Last season with the Bengals was awesome I've always heard great things about the series. Can't wait to finally check it out.
  18. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 03:10 PM) Hard Knocks starts on HBO August 11. Not too interested in the Jets simply because of the lack of personalities, but still watch. I've never really seen the show, but now that I have HBO I am going to check it out.
  19. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index.php/t...-type-a-status/ Fangraphs with an article about Lilly's Type A status, it was written a couple of weeks ago. Looks like he is a borderline Type A at this point. Say we do get him and he accepts, offering him arbitration and having him accept it wouldn't be the end of the world.
  20. If the Cubs pick up a lot of the contract, I wouldn't have a problem with it.
  21. Per Rotoworld Didn't see this posted anywhere. Looks like we'll be seeing him in the ninth again.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 01:01 PM) There's a hell of a big difference between saying Baltimore did well in that deal and saying that the pieces Baltimore got could form the basis of a deal for Fielder. Ah, I misunderstood you.
  23. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 01:22 AM) Preaching to the choir, he's f***ing brutal. He's also one of these National Writers that uses the term "top prospects" for every f***ing trade that goes down. Nightengale did it for the Cliff Lee trade (describing the prospects that WEREN'T Smoak) and Heyman did it today describing the 2 guys that we 100% knew were included in the deal along with Saunders. From what I understand none of those 5 players involved in those trades are what anyone would call "top" prospects. Believe it not, Jon/Bob but not every minor league ballplayer is a "TOP" prospect, this distinction is reserved for the very best prospects in a given farm system. As the days go by I'm appreciating Jeff Passan more and more, who described today's trade thusly: A-f***in'-men Jeff. As a pretty big fan of Dan Haren I can't even put into words how much this trade upsets me; that he was basically given away in a salary dump when he's still one of the very best starting pitchers in the game and is under team control at a reasonable price through 2013. Passan might be the best baseball writer out there.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 10:18 AM) Even with that though, he's either a 2 month rental or a $10 million+ bill for next year. Take a look at what the Dodgers gave up for Sherrill last year. It wasn't exactly what I'd call "Pieces that you could turn around and swap for Prince Fielder". Josh Bell is a legit prospect. Baltimore did well in that deal. I can easily see a team willing to take Jenks, although we shouldn't expect much in return. Although who knows, we gave up Allen for Tony Pena last year.
