  1. The Belmont red line stop had a ton of cops when I was there about a half hour ago. And supposedly there's going to be extremely heavy security in Wrigleyville as well.
  2. So, how crazy is it going to get if the Cubs win tonight? I actually thought the night they won the pennant was pretty tame all things considered, especially with it being a Saturday. I'm guessing the potential parade would be Friday. Good luck to anyone that has to commute to work downtown that day.
  3. Hopefully the Sox brass would see what they did on the other side of town and the fruits of their labor. Unfortunately, we can probably look forward to a few minor free agent signings.
  4. I thought the coverage in 2005 was real good. Now there's Twitter and Facebook to amplify things. Cubs coverage is just different due to the fanbase. The media is appealing to the lowest common denominator, therefore you get the stories with people being interviewed at bars, etc.
  5. QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Oct 23, 2016 -> 03:23 PM) I heard cubby bear was charging 100 bucks at the door. Yeah I heard the same thing. Possibly the most annoying thing about this Cubs season is this infatuation the fanbase has with David Ross. During the ceremony last night, he got by far the loudest cheer out of everybody. I could understand if he was a player who had been there 10 years and been through the rough times, but he's been with them two seasons.
  6. I was actually surprised at how tame things were last night. I remember in Game 6 in 2003, fans were lined up across both Waveland and Sheffield. I thought the crowd after the game was actually pretty small all things considered, especially considering it was a Saturday.
  7. Houston is also a good spot for them.
  8. If Robin comes back.....man what a nightmare this entire baseball season has been.
  9. Anyone else want to see this guy get more of a shot? With the garbage the Sox are currently playing at catcher, I'd like to see it. Looking at his minor league stats, I really like his K/BB ratio. Don't know much about his defense.
  10. Extremely disappointing, though I blame Reinsdorf more than the front office.
  11. Heading into today the Cubs' run differential was +163.....+48 against the Reds.
  12. J.J. Hoover gets completely squeezed on a Zobrist walk in the 15th. Zobrist scores the tying run as Bryant hits a soft dribbler through the left side for the go-ahead run.
  13. QUOTE (lord chas @ Jun 19, 2016 -> 09:38 AM) We need a total top to bottom enema. All these scholarship employees need to go too. Brooks Boyer, Gene Honda, Buddy Bell, and others all got to go What the hell did Gene Honda do wrong?
  14. Trading Sale would be a franchise changing move. The Dodgers and Red Sox have stacked systems and could use the pitching.
  15. All comes down to player development. The teams that develop players win. Sox haven't done a good job of that for 10-plus years. So instead they're stuck going dumpster diving for guys like Latos, Shields, etc. Things aren't going to change until development does.
  16. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jun 15, 2016 -> 09:08 PM) Does he? He's taking pitch 1 a bit from what I've seen. Seems like it's been that way when I've watched, but I haven't watched a ton recently. He's had a reputation as a free-swinger in the minors though.
  17. Seeing Anderson come up and do well is a refreshing sign. Eventually pitchers will know he likes to swing at the first pitch and not give him anything, so he'll have to adjust. But for now it's good to see.
  18. Certainly the worst episode of the season, though Arya has been the worst storyline the past two seasons so it's not a surprise considering she was the showcase. Looks like next week's episode will be similar to "Blackwater" and "The Watcher's On the Wall" in that the entire episode will consist of the battle at Winterfell.
  19. It's pathetic. Guys with terrible ERAs (Ventura, Pelfrey, etc.) making it look easy against the Sox. Lawrie looks completely lost.
  20. Listening to Buster Olney's podcast last week, he said his sources haven't given him any sense Ventura is in danger. Take it for what it's worth.
