  1. This and the new luxury tax penalties will basically act as a de-facto salary cap. It's about time.
  2. Anderson hitting leadoff tonight. That's something I've never understood.
  3. I think at some point we'll see the mound either lowered or moved back to combat the insane velocity that's come on over the past few years.
  4. Terrible call. Wouldn't have mattered in the outcome, but you at least make the Cubs use Davis.
  5. Rodon's been unlucky on balls in play. And my god this ump has been bad for both sides.
  6. Dunkirk was great. I rarely see movies in the theaters but made sure to go see it. Only complaint was I wish there could have been some more dialogue. Either way, great movie.
  7. http://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/2017...9x7gLSBi2xkI.97 Doesn't include Rutherford, but it's safe to assume he slides in at No. 4.
  8. Does the BostonStrong tweeter have any track record of being right?
  9. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 05:27 PM) Yes...I've been saying for a while that the strikeout will be the death of baseball. Lots of people on this board thing it is an absurd statement, but 30% of at bats ending in two things that cause very little actual action / excitement is insane. I should point out, strikeouts with a bunch of runners on can actually be exciting (depending on the situation). But strikeouts / walks happening that often is a lot of time where nothing happens. Eventually I think they'll either lower the mound or move it back. I agree that something has to be done. The velocity certainly isn't going anywhere.
  10. Felipe Rivero, who the Nats traded for Melancon last year, has been real good for the Pirates too.
  11. The Instagram post has been removed
  12. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 26, 2017 -> 08:25 PM) Foulke, Baldwin, Sirotka and Howry out for ceremonial first pitch. #WhiteSox Based on the pictures I saw on Twitter, Foulke gained a LOT of weight. Wow.
  13. Great throw by Narvaez. He's definitely a guy I'm following this year, I think he's got a good shot at being a useful player.
  14. Not sure how accurate this radar gun is but Giolito's only throwing 88-90
  15. QUOTE (Soha @ Feb 18, 2017 -> 02:39 PM) He's already said two trades fell through at the ownership stage by the other team. He can't control if opposing owners wont sign off on deals. Ah ok. That makes perfect sense.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 17, 2017 -> 03:34 PM) Hahn confirmed on Garfien podcast they were close during offseason to a trade on par with Sale/Eaton Then I'd like to know why he wasn't moved.
  17. The Raiders have officially applied for relocation to Las Vegas, and the owners should vote in March. If they move, it'll be the third NFL relocation in three years. MLB has had one team move since 1972. The dumbest thing about this is apparently they're going to stay in Oakland while the stadium is built. If the Chargers can play at the StubHub Center, the Raiders can play at UNLV for a couple of years.
  18. I'm not sure I've been this happy about White Sox baseball since the Sox beat the Twins in the 2008 tiebreaker game. Even though they'll be bad next year, I'm stoked for the season and will definitely be going to more games.
  19. Ugh, not good news at all. Have a feeling this rebuild will be half-assed.
  20. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Nov 18, 2016 -> 09:34 AM) Not sure Toronto has the farm system to get the Sox interested enough to deal Eaton. His value is extremely high right now and he is on a cheap contract. The guys at BaseballAmerica seemed to really like the Blue Jays' system. Their Top 10 came out recently. http://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/2017...m1GLKC8x14eM.97
  21. I want to see a full rebuild. Not some half-assed rebuild with an attempt to win in 2018. I'd like to see everyone with the exception of Rodon and Anderson out. I do believe that with the talent the Sox currently have, I feel they could compete in 2019 if they rebuild the right way. The only way the Sox are going to win consistently for a 5-year stretch is develop from within.
  22. They're estimating $5 million people for the parade rally. Certainly it's not that much, they always overestimate this stuff. But how soon until we hear about how the Cubs had x more fans there than the Sox?
  23. One thing I thought about is, we've seen our crosstown rival win one World Series in our lifetimes. How do you think New York Mets fans feel? A Met fan in their 20s or 30s has seen the Yankees win five championships, including one over the Mets. Oakland A's fans have seen the Giants win three out of the past five World Series while they have to hear talk about their team possibly relocating.
  24. I can hear the fireworks going off outside my apartment. I'm glad Chapman wasn't able to close it out.
  25. I'm about a mile from Wrigley, thankfully on a quiet street that's usually never busy. No idea what to expect tonight. Hopefully I'll just be able to fall asleep.
