  1. Parade was awesome, too bad I couldn't head down there. LMAO at Kane and the cabbies comment.
  2. Unbelievable. Still can't believe the Hawks won the cup. I wasn't as invested in this team as I was with the Sox, but it's still awesome. I grew up playing hockey and was a huge fan during the late 1990's-early 2000's. Then with games not being on TV and the lockout, I just kind of lost interest not only in the Blackhawks, but in the entire sport. Plus, in my first year at NIU living in the dorms I couldn't watch hardly any games as I didn't get CSN or Versus. But the last couple of years I've started to get back into it, and I have been just crazy for hockey this season with the olympics and the Blackhawks. What a great feeling this is. The thing is, this team should be good for years to come, hopefully we can bring home some more titles. But I'll enjoy this one for now.
  3. Guillen needs to go. I give him a ton of credit for 2005, but the bottom line is his teams have underacheived every year except 2005 and 2008. Even in 2008 we saw some of his worst managing, with the three man rotation at the end of the season and putting Griffey out in center field.
  4. http://deadspin.com/5555714/this-is-pete-roses-corked-bat Shouldn't surprise anyone
  5. Have to hand it to the Sox. They've come a long way from the Lance Broadway/Kyle McCulloch days. At least there is something to be excited for in this terrible season.
  6. I've stopped getting excited when there is a guy that wants a ton of money available. Everyone knows the Sox won't take him. We go through this every single year.
  7. QUOTE (SnB @ Jun 5, 2010 -> 01:40 PM) best place to find an authentic jersey? the internet if full of fakes. Just get a fake. Yea, it might not be the best quality but $40 still beats the hell out of $250. My Toews should be coming in the next few days.
  8. I would be willing to trade everyone with the exception of Danks, Beckham, and Santos. I think we need to seriously consider dealing Rios.
  9. http://www.startribune.com/business/95570759.html I really think the government needs to do everything possible to prevent these things from entering Lake Michigan. Should they get in there and start reproducing, all hell would break loose 10-20 years from now. These things eat a ton and reproduce like crazy, which is bad news for fish like salmon, bass, etc. The silver Carp even jump out of the water when they hear boat motors, hitting people in the face. Who the hell is going to want to go boating and water skiiing, when there is a threat of a 20 pound fish smackin into you at 20 mph? Just check out how these things jump.
  10. Harper was ejected from a game at the JUCO world series yesterday for arguing a strike call. Juco rules state that if a player is ejected twice during a season, he's suspended for two games. Since Harper was ejected earlier this year, he sits two games, and his juco career might be over.
  11. I watched the Hurt Locker the other night. Great film.
  12. I truly believe that the 1985 NBA draft lottery was fixed so the Knicks could get Patrick Ewing. Check out this video, the guy puts all the envelopes in normally, and throws one against the side. Of course, the envelope David Stern picks has a huge crease in it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1mN3OGRGybA
  13. Galarraga is now one of my favorite players. I love how classy he has been. Milt Pappas can sure learn some lessons from him.
  14. It's over. I like Cowley, I think he's a straight shooter. When he mocks the sox all he's doing is speaking the truth.
  15. Has anyone ever done it? I'm only working part-time and trying to make some extra money. And of course I would be helping people. I know you can make around $200 per month if you do it a couple times a weeks. Just wanted to see if anybody has ever done it and what they thought of the experience.
  16. I'm at the point where I want Ozzie gone. That being said, I don't see anything happening. I mean, in 2007 when we lost 92 games we gave him a f***ing extension.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ May 27, 2010 -> 11:45 AM) I still don't believe that people watched this show for the character aspect of it. The mystery was always the intriguing part. For example, when the Others kidnapped Walt, people were asking why they kidnapped him with regards to why is he so special. I'm more accepting of the finale now than I was immediately after watching it, but I can't help but think of all the time that seems to have been wasted on meaningless events on this show. They should have just shown Penny and Juliet walking around in tank tops, and I would have been fine with that. Couldn't agree more. Yea, some of the character stuff was interesting, and it was nice to see their backgrounds, but ultimately I watched the show for the island's mysteries.
  18. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 26, 2010 -> 12:56 PM) Unfortunately, when they remodeled Soldier Field they made it the smallest stadium in the league (61,000), so no chance for a Super Bowl in Chicago. I think the minimum capacity is 70,000 or so. Just one more example of why Soldier Field sucks. It's a shame they couldn't have built a better stadium, there's no doubt Chicago would be in the running for future Super Bowls.
  19. Well, I've had a couple of days to think about it more, and I have to say that I'm still dissapointed with the ending. It's just that I think the whole alternate timeline was a waste of time. What kept me interested in the show from season one on were all the mysteries surrounding the island more than the characters. I mean, in season one I was wondering what the smoke monster was, who the mysterious people who took Claire were, who exactly Rousseau was and how she got there. I cared about stuff like that a lot more than why Jack Shepard hates his dad. To me, the show isn't character driven. Did I find the backgrounds of some of the characters to be interesting? Yes, but ultimately that wasn't why I watched the show. I'm not saying I expected an answer for everything. I thought the stuff on the island during the finale was good. The last scene with Jack dying in the same field he woke up in couldn't have been done any better. Instead of the whole church scene, I really wish they would have shown a few scenes of everyone's life post island. I mean, what did Richard do when he left? That would have been interesting.
  20. I'll be honest, I wanted Branyan to hit a ball 500 feet. I just have a sick feeling that Ozzie will say that Bobby "got the job done" and he'll be out there for the 9th once again.
