If the White Sox are fortunate enough to advance to the ALCS, I know they would start on the road versus LAA, but can anyone tell me who has home field advantage if they face the Red Sox? I think despite their record the White Sox would have home field advantage since they are a division winner, correct?

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 28, 2008 -> 08:00 PM) No we didn't. I am looking at my playoff/WS tickets right now, and there isn't anything there for a one game playoff. Unless its only online or something. I am going to go check. I got two tickets to a "tiebreaker" in addition to the other 11 potential playoff games. IT was in the mix. I would assume there will be an opportunity to buy tickets to that game, though. There are not enough season ticket holders to fill the park. I would bet there are another 10K to 15K seats available.

Does anyone know if a time has been set for a potential one game playoff on Tuesday? Trying to sort out my schedule. Thanks to anyone that has any news on this.

QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Sep 28, 2008 -> 07:37 PM) That'd suck if we can't play tomorrow. Bad weather could help the Sox get their rotation back in order. And no, I do not mean that Javy could get struck by lightening.

While I am not a big Cabrera fan, I can't argue with his performance lately, especially his approach against the Twins. Regarding his quotes, what is it that he said that was so bad? It sounds like a guy who is complimenting his teammates but also pointing out some shortcomings that they should be able to overcome if they wake up and start approaching each game right. Jerk or not, on the surface watching this team, it sounds like there is some merit to his comments.
-
My understanding was he loved it in MN. One of the big knocks on him in SF was he was always watching Twins games, almost like a jilted lover still lamenting over the rejection from his ex. If he did not get along with his teammates in Minnesota, it is news to me.

It is tough enough to watch this game with the Twins magic act, but the aggravating tension dripping from Hawk's commentary makes it unbearable. I know, shut off the sound and listen to radio. I would but the satellite delay makes it tough as well. I really hope Stone can reign him in a bit next year. Win or lose, baseball is supposed to be relaxing to watch and enjoy. Hawk makes that impossible. -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 10:11 AM) Now I'm confused again. Tony, did your rep just send you an email saying you got extra tickets? Did you request them in some way? My rep is about to get an angry email. I believe it was a presale for full season ticket holders only. It allowed you to buy two upper deck tickets for either (but not both) of the potential home games in the ALDS only.

2009 schedule announced for White Sox
Pants Rowland replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (watchtower41 @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 12:20 PM) Also good news for us that the Cubs face the rest of the AL Central... except for the Royals. Watch 2009 KC Royals be awesome a la 2008 TB Rays and win the pennant where they face the Cubs. Milwaukee will lose the division because they struggle at the Metrodome and the Cubs get several additional games in Milwaukee due to a Tsunami that ravages the NL West. -
Isn't Neal Cotts available to pitch?

QUOTE (Ron @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 10:48 AM) I e-mailed Triple Threat. They confirmed they can make them. $99.99 for the jersey plain, $149.99 with a name and number. I'll probably order one for myself soon. Thanks and welcome to Soxtalk.

QUOTE (Rooftop Shots @ Sep 14, 2008 -> 08:35 PM) For the last few years at the cell, they periodically play an audio of what sounds like a bunch of cheerleaders making some sort of a call/chant/whatever it is , and at the end of it you hear a loud and long OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooo!!!!!! Does anybody know what the heck they are saying/chanting and what it supposedly represents? I know exactly what you are talking about and have wondered the same thing as you. Whatever it is, it sucks.

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 08:39 AM) Baltimore almost seems like they're purposely trying to lose. Maybe they do not want to see Boston get in the playoffs again.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 07:57 PM) I've been saying it for a month now...Carlos Zambrano's shoulder is not healthy. At least he's got a good head on his shoulders.

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 08:01 PM) Mmm..I dunno.. I wouldnt put it past 'em. After reading the poll where so many Americans believe Iraq = Al Qaeda, I'll never underestimate our nation's dumbness again. Well, they are both muslims and kind of brown, so that is close enough for many. BTW, Obama has finally given me a compelling reason to vote for him.
-
Anyone catch Obama on ESPN yesterday? I did not see the whole clip, but here is an excerpt... Stuart Scott: “If the Cubs and the White Sox both make it to the World Series? Obama: “I would be going.” Scott: “Who would you root for? Obama: “Oh, that's easy. White Sox. I'm not one of these fair weather fans. You go to Wrigley Field, you have a beer, beautiful people up there. People aren't watching the game. It's not serious. White Sox, that's baseball. Southside.”

QUOTE (easyw @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 09:36 PM) I've worked in the Loop for over 10 years now - I don't go out to eat too often, beyond the chains , here are my picks: --Pan Hel bakery in Greektown for the spinach pies What a great call for lunch. Try some of the pastries for dessert. Louis cookies and the coconut cookies dipped in chocolate are excellent. Their bread is great to take home for dinner, too.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 04:33 PM) I'd take Danks over Zambrano, especially the way Z is throwing the ball lately. However, I do agree with you. This Cubs team is enormously talented. I didn't know Marmol hadn't allowed a hit in like 12 appearances. That was the one that popped in my head as well. Floyd has been pretty good as well but I am not ready to give him the nod here.Otherwise, this season, on any given day, I would probably go with the Cubs top three over the other 4 Sox starters. Overall, I think this Cubs team will win the pennant and put up a pretty good fight in the world series. I hope it doesn't happen, but I do not see the rest of the NL beating them, unless someone gets goofy hot like the Rockies did last year. They are likely to have home field throughout the playoffs and we all know how tough they have been at Wrigley Field this year. They also wear down starting pitching and get into other teams' bullpens which has really worked wonders for them all year. The series will be tougher though since they will have to start on the road and might not be able to build momentum.

QUOTE (oralsoxpodcast @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 12:20 AM) Totally agree. For some reason you can't talk about how good if not great Uribe is at shortstop. Naturally O.C. gives you a much better average, but if we're speaking purely defensively, and after having watched both Uribe and Cabrera play the position...Uribe would be my choice. 9th inning of the 4th game of the World Series, and we're holding onto a 1 run lead, I'd be more comfortable with Uribe playing short. Maybe we'll get to see him do it at 3rd. That being said, I don't hate Cabrera (or Uribe) as much as I did the begining of the season. I actually watched that 9th inning the other day and have to say, that was a much thinner looking Juan Uribe. He is still a great glove man, but he is not as good as he was in 2005. I think an offseason conditioning program would put him right back up there, though. Maybe they can resign him with a weight clause like Schilling had.

Did anyone notic that Mark Gonzalez mentioned

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 12:01 PM) At this point, it's a gamble either way. We're gambling Danks's long-term health if we try to push him 180-190 innings this year, but we're also gambling this season away if we try to bench him and go with both Richard and Broadway in the rotation. Damn Twins. I'd still really like to give Danks 1 start off in September even if the Twins stay right on our tails. And those reasons make me think they will not use the off days remaining to skip 5th spot in the rotation, whoever that 5th man will be. -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 03:59 AM) I'm scared absolutely s***less about Danks but if he keeps producing, I'm not going to complain. 2008 IP to date is 150.3 2007 IP was 139.0 What was the litmus test on acceptable increases to innings pitched before breaking down your pitchers over the long term? -
QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 21, 2008 -> 01:18 PM) LMAO!!! If you hadn't added the invisible man part, I wonder how many on the board would've gotten that. Great actor in many memorable films, especially Casablanca and Lawrence of Arabia but I would not have gotten the joke if left at name alone.
