QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 03:48 PM) How about Chicken Planet on Jackson just off of State? Half a roasted chicken, bread, two sides + drink= $6.00 You ruined my revelation. I was all jazzed to post about "the planet" and you stole my thunder. I got them to cater my son's 2nd birthday party and deliver it. I challenge anyone to make cheaper, healthier chicken w/sides from your own kitchen. Others of note: Courtway restaurant inside 29 S. LaSalle lobby (uust south of madison). Excellent fresh made rolls and the fastest sit down service around. Stocks and Blonds just under the Washington and Wells El stop. Menu is decent overall but on Friday the fish fry special is very notable. Place fills up fash, especially during lent. Jaffa Bagel inside Ogilvie Transportation Center - Great roast turkey sandwiches fresh off the carcass. Made to order but watch so they do not skimp on the toppings.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Aug 15, 2008 -> 06:35 PM) Anyone who goes to CO's deserves two black eyes. No kidding. Is that bar still in existance as C.O. Daniels or has it changed names like so many others?

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 08:38 AM) I think it would be a big pain in the ass, but if it drastically improved public transportation, it might be worth it. That! I would love to have the olympics for no other reason than the investment in infrastructure rehabilitation and expansion. Complete the north-south rebuild of wacker drive, expand the trains to include a line between ohare and midway, further develop the idea of a riverwalk, improve the south shore of the lakefront, etc. It would all be a welcome sight.

QUOTE (Wanne @ Aug 13, 2008 -> 08:07 PM) That Aflac question has me stumped: Name the last Sox pitcher to record 200 K's in consecutive seasons. My first thought was Floyd Bannister. so what was the answer? -
QUOTE (tommy @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 08:03 PM) Thank the guy in the blue shirt also. Why? Seems like he tried to mess up that play. Then had the nerve to ask for the ball after the catch.

Excellent hitter. Shakey knees. Looked good when he came up and I was surprised the Indians let him go. Just a solid professional hitter. Definitely one of the better sports nicknames you will ever encounter.

QUOTE (Gregory Pratt @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 01:24 PM) Doesn't that come through? I just read this and can not believe this guy is for real. He seems like a characature of a characature. I don't care for the general baseball demeanor of typical Cubs fans but this guy is beyond stereotypical Cub-Sox jabber. He sounds like an all-around repulsive person, Cubs fan notwithstanding. Am I being too harsh in my assessment?

Freddy hoping to have selected a team by the weekend so he can be ready for the majors in September. Probably some bluster by agent to get teams to act.
-
Supposedly Garcia wants to make a decision by the weekend so he can begin a minor league stint and be ready for September.

QUOTE (TCQ @ Aug 7, 2008 -> 08:00 AM) I have a buddy at notre dame he said that most people at least on the team hated rudy...f-ing movie magic thats all. And i heard they never even chanted his name. That was movie magic too. And i heard Jon Favreau never went there neither. My whole lifes been a lie up to this point. I saw the movie, believed it all happened as the film portrayed it, and still was hoping Rudy would get mauled by a pack of wolves at the end. God how I hated that dude. Watch Forrest Gump a few times and you may find yourself hating him, too. BTW, a college friend's father attended ND and was at the Rudy game. I called BS on the whole thing and he vehemently defended the movie's portrayal of that last game versus Georgia Tech. Who knows what the truth is.

QUOTE (Texsox @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 10:53 PM) So you would like AJ more if he was drafted lower? I never factored in draft position into whether I was a fan or not. I could not tell you draft position of anyone on my list except for Baines. I have a difficult time understanding how that works, "I really enjoy watching John Doe play, he's one of my favorites" "Did you know he was drafted in the 1st round?" "really!? he's washed up then, I take that back, I don't like watching him play!" BTW In my top five is a starting pitcher who lost 20 games one season. Todd Ritchie?

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 5, 2008 -> 04:15 PM) Is this for contributions only as a Sox? It's Frank if it's only as a Sox; Griffey or Tom Seaver or Fisk if it's combined performances with all teams. Would Griffey beat out Seaver? Didn't Seaver win 300 games? I assume you need to have played for more than a cup of coffee to be considered. Probably why Dick Allen did not make the cut, either.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Aug 5, 2008 -> 02:45 PM) Frank and personally it isn't gonna be close since defense is underrated. Frank's offense trumps anyone on the list. And for the record, I, too, undervalue defense and voted for the Big Hurt. I agree but there were some big names on that list. I know the Sox were an abyssmal franchise from the Black Sox scandal until the 1950s so it was a tough call between Frank and some of those guys that still excelled for the Sox from 1920-1950. Luke Appling (right hander as well with a .310 career BA and .399 OBP) was a tough guy to overlook and spent his entire career on the south side. He was a seven time AS who hit .388 in 1936 but never really hit for power. Supposedly wore pitchers down fouling off pitches, though. Ted Lyons also appeared to excel on some bad teams and is in the HOF with 260 career victories. Appears to have come back for a season (and did well) after serving in WWII.

Has this been posted anywhere? Some pretty respectable names, although Joe Jackson is not mentioned. I will be interested to see who comes out on top. http://proxy.espn.go.com/chat/sportsnation...B?event_id=3531

QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 12:21 PM) RICKIE.WEEKS.IS.A.DUMBASS. LOL! I know it should be a stale old joke by now, but the fact that the guy who inspired this format gets upset that people keep referencing it makes me laugh harder.
