  1. QUOTE(Beltin'Bill @ Nov 12, 2007 -> 02:47 PM) Any reason why you think it will happen so quickly after the negotiation window opens? Because we lied and told him the Farm sysyem was loaded
  2. I was there for the Pasqua HR-and I still believe it was farther than that and was the longest HR hit there-It cleared the concourse and hit the advertising sign. Also didnt Nellie Fox only strike out like 13 times in his MVP year?
  3. we could trade them a package with any of those guys, the Marlins could turn Garland into more prospects via trading him. It is possible
  4. I just wish Williams would shut up-I have heard nothing worth listening to or reading for some time. If he's trying to hype players value, it never works if he makes deals. Good thing he's not an agent
  5. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 9, 2007 -> 07:34 AM) Burns? Gossage? We're going back to the 70's now? There wasn't "always" someone ready. I was old enough to follow the team a couple decades ago or more, and believe me, there have been plenty of stretches when the team was bad and there was next to no help from the minors. I could go back further than that. But we have not been able, until Josh Fields, to bring up capable replacements for injured players. I never saw anyone as bad as Andy Gonzalez with this team an extended time. I think Wassermann will work out, but no one really expected him to. Maybe the problem is they dont trust their minor league players to give them extended looks. Perhaps a number of them could play in the majors. Actually a Matt Gurrier would be an example of that. That certainly was the case with Brian Anderson. I wish he had the audition Owens & Richar got. The fact that we have been competitive, except last year, has kept us from extended looks at young players. So I and others may be a bit wrong about our young players now, maybe some should be brought up sooner
  6. QUOTE(knightni @ Nov 9, 2007 -> 01:09 AM) Are we talking Ordonez/Lee/Crede/Garland/Buehrle, etc.? That was 1998/1999; not that long ago. Most of their other minor leaguers were overvalued. And Thomas, Ventura, Alex Fernandez, the young pitchers like Britt Burns, Rich Gossage, Terry Forster, and position players like Ray Durham, there was always someone ready. There were more, but the point is, we have nothing resembling this any more
  7. Yes, a steady decline-as an entire organization, mostly during the Williams regime. Many of you arent old enough to remember the respected farm system we once had.
  8. I like the way Richar swings-he has power potential, and speed. Here's a What if.................... What if we do come across a second base/lead off either by Free agent or trade. Does anyone think Richar could play LF?
  9. Another day passes and no improvements. Good thing Williams went there ready to deal.
  10. I dont care about the payroll-if you have a 90 loss team and can get a player like this, you do it and make your adjustments later. One player will not turn it around, but we have to hit in our division, and he would sure help
  11. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 6, 2007 -> 11:19 AM) What's weird is, it seemed like the club had one of the best benches in baseball in 2006 - Mack, Ozuna, Cintron, Gload and Alomar. But with Ozuna's injury, Gload gone, Mack being traded, Alomar replaced by Hall and Cintron inexplicably falling apart... they suddenly had one of the worst benches in baseball in 2007 with the likes of Gonzalez, Hall, Terrero, Molina, etc. And subtract versatile dependable replacements like Timo and Willie Harris from the year before-and it makes you wonder what the plan was?
  12. Tigers took a chance on Maggs & it paid off-after Bora$$ declared him fit-he did miss a year-but ended up OK So its possible

Does anyone know how many Bora$$ players they already have?

QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 3, 2007 -> 06:25 PM) I completely agree with this. I'll be surprised if he's with the organization at this point next week. Hopefully he's traded for Pat Burrell or Damon, and not some AAAA pitcher. Yes I agree-the Yanks are definatly anxious to fill 3B to make a statement to Bora$$-and nostayRod.
  15. It is harassment-you dont have to say or do much-and those comments are way beyond minimum harassment occurances.
  16. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 31, 2007 -> 11:56 AM) Why put Crisp in LF? You'd put him in CF as far as I'm concerned. Carter is a pretty big price to pay, but Crisp would be a significant upgrade in CF. He is, in my view, slightly below Rowand in value - but he's relatively cheap at about $5.5M per year for 2 years (then an $8M option in 2010). And there is always the chance he might regain his Cleveland form. He''l be 28 on opening day, 30 in his option year, so he's not too old. Has some speed. I just hesitate with Carter. Konerko and Thome are getting old, and Carter looks like he might be the real deal to replace one of those two in a year or two. Seems like a shame to trade that away. Also, any online link? I'm curious if this is just spit-balling. Of course, the word CHEAP rears its ugly head. This would be bad-its an excuse NOT to pursue another OF

  18. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 30, 2007 -> 08:13 PM) Well then, there is no way this team is going to win next year if you're right on that. Because we can't upgrade the lineup without moving pitching (our best asset) and moving pitching means that 2 of those guys start. You are correct sir-give me a chance to improve every day with a solid position player, over an every 5th game pitcher
  19. I just wish they would quietly not get involved instead of this being the first thing we hear from them every off season. I wouldnt deal with this ridiculous salary either, just stop making it sound like everything they do is based on money. Geez I'm tired of that
  20. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 29, 2007 -> 07:36 PM) Nothing? Yeah as of now-nothing-from an 88 win team already.
  21. Point is-they gave up NOTHING to strengthen them significantly. WE will trade Garland an established starting pitcher, and get less. Thats the faith I have in Williams
  22. Did I hear the Tigers got him from Atlanta?
