  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 26, 2014 -> 08:03 PM) I didn't get you were saying after this season. my bad, should've clarified that.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 26, 2014 -> 08:00 PM) What makes you think he would clear waivers, or not be taken back by Washington? after this season he doesn't have to clear waivers he will have spent a year on the major league roster and i'm pretty sure he'll have two options.
  3. Flowers will be much better served in a back up role, and with the year closing, having nieto down at AAA so he can work on framing pitches and getting consistant at bats would do him a world of good as well as serve as some depth.
  4. Please move Avi to left field and sign Rasmus this offseason. Also can't wait to just see our core perform night in and night out.
  5. make that 0 for 0 with 3BB now at 50 walks and 55 strikeouts on the year at AAA as a 23 year old in 78 games; just remember though his celing is just a utility player....
  6. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 24, 2014 -> 03:40 PM) I think I'm in on the #MarchToMatuella now. love it
  7. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 23, 2014 -> 06:54 PM) I prefer Matuella. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Aug 23, 2014 -> 07:14 PM) I'm with you. Also really like Nathan Kirby. Honestly I'm with both of you I meant #roadtocameron in jest. I would prefer the sox pick the Duke stand out. Great command of his fastball that can hit 97 a great 12-6 curve, a good feel for his changeup and a potential average slider. Sign me up.
  8. I was just spending some time looking for possible comps for Andy and I'm curious if the board feels that Garrett Jones would be a fair comp. Jones didn't get a cup of coffee with the twins till he was 26 years old, he spent two years in the IL before coming up in '06 and '07. Here is how their numbers compare.
  9. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Aug 22, 2014 -> 03:45 PM) Sanchez went 0-5 in CLE earlier this year. Hope he does well meh, if he goes 3 for 5 tonight with a double and a home run and a walk, his small sample size will look great.
  10. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 22, 2014 -> 07:05 AM) Cubs prospects have 0 bearing on ours. Seriously the law of independent trials is at work here. As others have said the fact that in his second go around at AAA for the majority of which he was 21 and about 5.5 years younger and also a switch hitter says a ton about his talent level.
  11. I agree with what others have said, I think the reason Semien isn't being called up is because of Super 2 considerations and thats ok its a few more days to save a lot of potential headache and hassle in the not too distant future. I too believe a lot of people across the different sox outlets are under rating Semien, personally i think he has the capability of being a player like Ron Gant and if that comes to pass that would be huge. As for Sanchez everyone has always praised his defensive chops at 2B personally i think he could be an adequate SS and seeing how he is so young I wouldn't be against putting him strictly at SS next year at AAA to start the season, if Hahn doesn't find a trade worthy of Ramirez's talents. Sanchez will still only be 22 for the majority of next season, he'll still be nearly 5 years younger than the average age in the IL. Also I'm not opposed to letting that infield get comfortable with each other: Smith, Ravelo, Johnson, Sanchez and Davidson, thats a fair amount of depth and potential regulars there.
  12. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Aug 21, 2014 -> 09:05 PM) Is he a starting MLB third baseman? Defensively, he's just not there. I disagree hes a slightly below average third basemen if you're to believe the defensive metrics and hes a 2 win platoon bat that is really nice to have for cheap. My hope is next year provided Saladino recovers from TJ that they use him as his platoon partner. I would like to believe even with this horrid year Davidson is the future for this franchise since power is so scarce in the game but I'm a proponent of Conor being teamed up with a competent defender and hitter as a lions share of a platoon.
  13. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Aug 21, 2014 -> 07:52 PM) Next dominoes Danks and Dunn...wishful thinking It wouldn't surprise me to see Dunn go to the Giants now that it appears Belt may be lost for the rest of the season with a concussion.
  14. best of luck Gordon, honestly thought you would be this franchises Chase Utley
  15. QUOTE (LDF @ Aug 20, 2014 -> 05:37 PM) I have been watching several Cuban players and Asian players for the past several months. with re to Alfredo Despaigne, he was playing in mexico with a fake passport, waiting to get some time in so he can petition mlb. however, mlb powers investigated and forced mexico to banned him for life. he then went back home to cuba. here it is discovered that he does not want to give up his citizenship to cuba b/c of some family ties to the gov or something. long story, he is now in japan playing, he is 1 or 3 or 4 players I would love to the sox to get. oh well. thats not true at all, MLB has gone on record saying they wouldn't enforce the ban of the mexican league on mlb. if Despaigne wants to play in the bigs he has to defect from cuba and establish residency somewhere else, simple as that.
  16. QUOTE (southside hitman @ Aug 14, 2014 -> 08:44 AM) Interested in writing recaps for futuresox? Haha haha i would've loved to about 6 months ago; but now i've got a 3 month old son
  17. my takeaways from tonight AAA: - Avi is still hitting while striking out and getting ready to come back up. - Wilkins continue to hit 2/3 tonight with another double and a BB, Really want to see what he can do in an extended look at the major league level, even if he flames out and is nothing more than a AAAA player, the sox would be well served in finding out if he can be a serviceable DH and 1B backup. - Semien started at SS tonight and then was moved to LF and Sanchez took over for him. How do people feel about Semien starting left field for this team next year? if we don't land Castillo or Rasmus? - Sanchez continues to hit 2/4 tonight and still over .300 for the season over .400 his last ten. Really hoping he can develop into Erik Aybar for this organization that would be a welcome sight. - Davidson 2/4 with a HR and no strikeouts tonight still over .200 AA - Rangel 3/5 with a BB, a HR shy of the cycle and back at 3B for game one. Is there anything to read into this? Looking forward to when he eventually gets to AAA. Nice article from the 12th on our other Cuban first basemen link, - Thompson 3/7 with a K. What is the boards take on him? are we looking at a best case scenario 4th outfielder? he will only be 24 at the start of next season but his last two years he has stagnated at AA and there hasn't been much improvement from his first go around where he hit .280. This year his K% and BB% are trending in the right direction from last year but not by leaps and bounds. - Kevan Smith 1/3 with a K. Another interesting guy in the sox org that doesn't get much if any talk. He has hit and hit well every year he has been with the sox he is just older just turned 26 this past june. Does anyone have a read on his defensive ability? are we looking at a best case scenario a respectable back up here or something more along the lines of AJ Ellis / Robinson Chirinos? A+ - Carlos Rodon, I was just reading that Rodon's last strikeout was on 3 change ups...nasty. - Rondon has hit well at A+ 3/4 tonight. I wouldn't mind seeing him start there next year and possibly get a sip of coffee at AAA next year if he can make the biggest jump in all of baseball to AA and perform admirably. - Hawkins and Barnum more of the same hope they can both pull themselves out of the cooler they've been in lately and end on a strong note for the year.
  18. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 10, 2014 -> 09:21 AM) Noesi with the White Sox 6-7 4.15 ERA, 115IP, 43BB, 82Ks, Opponents BA .242, and a WHIP of 1.36 With a 4.69 fip & 4.47xfip for scrap heap pick up not bad at all, he could conceivably be a 1-1.5WAR pitcher next season over 30 starts. For league minimum, thats a great job by Hahn finding a serviceable 5th starter when people like Jeremy Guthrie are making over 8M for similar production.
  19. I agree I think Wilkins, Semien and once Avi finishes his rehab bring him up. As for DFAing De Aza, where is this hate coming from? hes been solid in the field and batting the following: .343/.361/.400 - .761 over his last 10 games, .298 /.375/.368 -.743 post ASB & .293/.352/.384 - .736 over his last 30. With how fragile Eaton is and how s***ty leury is it would be foolish to DFA him or give him away for nothing if anything bring him back next year as a 4th outfielder after Hahn actually signs someone like Castillo. If anyone on this team needs to be DFA'd its Beckham.
  20. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 10:49 AM) Same with Spencer Adams. Look at the damn movement here: https://twitter.com/sevenfuturehit/status/495851260621635584 https://twitter.com/sevenfuturehit/status/495851888466984960 its like he is throwing a whiffle ball out there, that is some sick movement.
