Maybe Pau is pissy about the failed trade like Odom was. Still, there's no way.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Dec 16, 2011 -> 09:56 PM) Nolan won't do that. The only way he will make Hardy look bigger than Bale is shooting the bulk of any scenes they are in together with Hardy closer to the camera than Bale, and mostly 3/4 shots from the waste up...it will give Bane a larger appearance. That and they'll have a Bane stunt guy who IS big. Bane has a mask over much of his face, I'm sure they can get away not using Hardy for a good portion of the action sequences.

Daily Show skewered the FFA guy pretty bad. His complaint was that the Muslims on the show aren't Sharia-loving extremists. Since we all know that 100% of Muslims are evil, the show must be a lie.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 14, 2011 -> 09:30 PM) Centers arguably better than Russell: Mikan, Ewing, Sabonis. If we've overrated Russell for dominance vs weaker competition, then shouldn't Mikan be WAY down the list for playing in an era where the average center was a 6'6" stiff and the league average FG% was in the mid 30s?

Can anyone explain why they would rank Mike Myers much higher than Jason Voorhees? Is it just liking Halloween 1 better than any Friday the 13th? They seem like basically the same character.

QUOTE (Espy.Teahen @ Dec 13, 2011 -> 05:18 PM) "Everyone says he struggles throwing the ball. What I saw last night, he had no problems throwing the ball,He threw the ball extremely well when I was watching." - Tom Brady His passer rating was a 68, and that's with the Bears giving him tons of yards with the prevent defense. -
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Dec 13, 2011 -> 04:55 PM) I thought perhaps a busted water pipe, or maybe a sewer. I thought it looked a little too clean/finished to be the bat cave. I think of it as having the walls of an actual cave, in my mind. Looks like some kind of electronics setup up top. /overanalysis of largely blurry photo

QUOTE (Tex @ Dec 12, 2011 -> 12:54 PM) I wonder what kind of a reception Tebow would be receiving if he wasn't a Christian. I am trying to think of an athlete in my time that so many people want to see fail. None, he'd be riding the bench behind Orton because he wouldn't have the cult of personality he does now. -
QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 07:54 PM) I don't follow the logic here at all. If Chris Paul and a couple of playoff appearances couldn't keep them out of financial trouble, how is winning 30-35 games with far less marketable players than Paul going to save them? It's not, but I think 20 wins a year with players even less marketable than the guys they got is worse. And I'm not sure they're 30-35 wins bad.

QUOTE (Tex @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 01:50 PM) Of the minor sports, the LPGA has the toughest standards, I do not believe there can be any debating that point. I started a Weltall's House Ping Pong HOF and I haven't let ANYBODY in.

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 07:19 PM) That team simply misses the playoffs for the next 3 or 4 years in the west, racks up a few late lottery picks, and is stuck being awful when those guys decline anyways. The only way that team succeeds is if they get a dramatic upgrade at the point somehow. Yeah, I agree they're not in great shape either way. Given their crappy financial situation, fairly weak fanbase, and talks of contraction, can they survive with a string of 20-win seasons? Lucking into a Chris Paul or Kevin Durant doesn't happen often.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 06:12 PM) LBJ was a free agent. Right, but I think most people think they talked about teaming up long before he was.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 06:32 PM) The league doesnt own the Nuggets. True, but they Hornets were supposed to be able to act independently, weren't they?

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 06:46 PM) On the court it's more talent, but age is a big factor since New Orleans killed any chance of competing for at least 3 years by trading Paul. Scola is 31, Odom is 32 and Martin is 28. They're going to have to reload a few years because none of those guys is a young piece you can rebuild around. The Nuggets on the other hand got Gallinari (23), Chandler (24) and Mozgov (25). Those guys were also cheaper, the trio New Orleans got makes almost $30 million combined. If Paul just walks after this season, they have even less chance of competing because their only strategy will be "hope you luck into someone awesome in the lottery". Jack/Martin/Odom/Scola/Okafor is at least a respectable team. There are always going to be different strategies that teams can take. Trying to stay relevant VS starting from scratch. Youth VS veterans. Project players VS known quantities. Some people may not like the direction Demps took (though many do and I've yet to hear some great alternative), but it should have been his right to make it. This trade was not unreasonable.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 05:06 PM) OK, I can see the Rockets and OBVIOUSLY the Lakers being upset. The Hornets? Let's recap once again because I'm bored and have nothing else to do. Hornets give up BEST PLAYER IN DEAL BY FAR. They don't get back the non-Paul best player in the deal (Gasol). They take on another $20 million in borderline all-stars and roleplayers, get older, and get ONE pick back that will be in the 20's. WHAT THE f***! Thank god the league has stepped in and intervened. Recap: Hornets losing Paul would rather get than 3 good players for him than nothing. This trade was stopped because people didn't want the Lakers to improve, not because it was bad for the Hornets. The Nuggets were in the same situation with Carmelo and they got far less (Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, and Timofey Mozgov), but that trade didn't get blocked.
-
QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 02:57 PM) Wasn't there also an unprotected first round pick from Houston in the deal? Yes, also Goran Dragic. Martin/Scola/Odom/Dragic/#1 (probably around pick 20 since it's a Knicks' pick)

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 02:25 PM) Currently? None. It's obvious Paul wants NY or LA. He won't extended anywhere else. But f*** him. He's under contract. They don't have to do a thing. That package is so insignificant that you have nothing to lose either way. 3 good starters is "so insignificant" and they should just wait and get nothing? You're not being reasonable.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 02:18 PM) That was me recognizing that it wasn't happening due to Paul not wanting to extend there. That's no excuse to settle for crap. What were the better options?
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 01:05 PM) OK? Did you read the first paragraph? It was all about Paul signing an extension I don't blame them for not wanting to deal Curry with no assurances that Paul would extend. You said the Hornets had a better offer available in Curry. They didn't.
-
Team sources: Golden State Warriors would trade Monta Ellis, not Stephen Curry, for Chris Paul http://www.mercurynews.com/warriors/ci_19492287
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 12:44 PM) There are much better offers. Stephen Curry for one. But, of course, Paul is not going to sign an extension with GS. That's fine. But that ridiculous Odom/Martin/Scola haul does nothing for the Hornets in the short or long-term. So there's really nothing for them to lose. If Paul wants to sit out a year with no pay, so be it. The league did nothing wrong here. They own the team and nixed a disgrace of a deal. What were the details of the Curry offer? I think you're really underrating the proposed package. Odom/Martin/Scola were #15/22/80 in Win Shares and #20/36/53 in PER. They're GOOD players. The league didn't nix the deal because it was bad for the Hornets. They did it because they didn't like what it did for the Lakers. That's wrong.

QUOTE (Tex @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 04:21 AM) If you would agree that people could participate in a non government sanctioned marriage ceremony or similar event to mark their union, I'll join you. I don't see what would stop them. A wedding is just a particular kind of social gathering/party.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 12:31 PM) For that trash? Yup. If anything to send a message to these p**** ass players that you're not going to hold us hostage by the balls when you're still under contract. Can you imagine a Hornets season ticket holder being told we just traded a superstar PG in his prime for Lamar Odom and Kevin Martin? The Hornets are in a position with no leverage. 3 starters is a decent haul. It's not like there are a bunch of other superior offers we're aware of them getting. If Paul wants to hold the Hornets hostage and refuse to play, then punish him. You don't play or get paid this year. Don't punish the Hornets for trying to do what's best for themselves.
