KW offered to step down or move to another spot
max power replied to chisoxfan09's topic in Pale Hose Talk
From what I heard, the future GM for the Cubs is likely to have about as much control over his team as an assistant GM in the white sox organization. That remains to be seen, of course. If that is the case, Hahn probably would not want go there, as he wouldn't feel he has a chance to succeed. He loves the cubs? I didn't know that. -
Sox acquire Marlins' #4 & #5 prospects for Ozzie.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 11:15 PM) Because when talking about if KW got Florida to take Rios with Ozzie, I said "In before J4L says "I'd blow Kenny"" Well it all started when he said he would blow Kenny in some other thread right? Somewhere in the Diamond Club I think. -

I don't think he would even take the cubs job. It would be a lateral move. The buzz around ricketts is that he wants a puppet GM. -
9/27 Blue Jays at White Sox

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 08:25 PM) Did he get swallowed by a blackhole or something? I am pretty sure he made national news in another game this year but I can't remember the details. -
I sent a few texts back and forth with lawrence holmes or his producer about this today. He thought it was still unprofessional how kenny handled it because he sent a text about it, then called him, which left cora confused. Personally, it didn't bother me much. The confusion likely came about because guillen reportedly told cora he would manage, not because the message was delivered via text.

Its a nice haul for a lame duck manager who only cares about himself and money. I doubt its enough for jordan4life to blow kenny though. Which is what the organization really needed. At best he may fluff him up a little and walk away, or brush against him as he walks by. -
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 09:34 AM) Sandy Alomar? Is Kenny gonna hire Roberto & Carl Everett as coaches? lol. Actually, would that be so bad? Roberto as the bench coach and everett as uh . . . nevermind.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 09:26 AM) Steve Stone was on 670 this morning and stated that the search will be very "quick", and he's pretty sure it'll be Sandy Alomar, and if not Alomar, Martinez. Will they hire the new guy before trading ozzie or do they have to wait?

Morel last 28 days slash - .253/.366 /.532 /.897

QUOTE (scenario @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 01:47 PM) Morel had a TOTAL of 7 walks in the first five months of the season... And has 15 so far in September alone. I think fathoms berating of him got him to change his approach. "Walks and HRs, good. Errors, bad." Morel said to himself upon reading the forum's threads. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 09:12 AM) SI_JonHeyman Jon Heyman Of course I should have realized joey cora would go with ozzie. Cora's the 1 who does the work while oz talks and tweets What happened to - "they got me fired".

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 09:07 AM) Purely intentional. We actually called each other to match outfits when we woke up this morning. We should have gone with our original thought - he might be tough, but it looks like he sucks at baseball. Well, I mean, anything is good, but I'm surprised he ever made the majors with his minor league lack of success.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 09:00 AM) 10/02/09 1:29 AM ET Marlins Minor Leaguer shot in Puerto Rico Wounded in drive-by attack while driving through hometown By John Schlegel / MLB.com Osvaldo Martinez, the 21-year-old Marlins Minor Leaguer who was shot several times in a drive-by attack in Puerto Rico on Wednesday, was the innocent victim of gangsters battling for control of drug distribution in public housing projects, according to The Associated Press. Police spokeswoman Maria Rivera told the AP that Martinez was driving through his hometown of Carolina, just east of the capital city of San Juan, when he was shot three times because it "seems that [gunmen] confused him with another person." There have been no arrests. According to the report, Martinez was recovering from surgery and in stable condition. Emergency room physician Dr. Benjamin Rodriguez said his "wounds did not have complications and they did not injure organs." The Marlins released a statement Wednesday night about the news: "The Florida Marlins are aware of a shooting incident involving Minor Leaguer Osvaldo Martinez in Puerto Rico this morning. At this time, we are trying to get more information. The entire organization's thoughts and prayers are with Osvaldo and his family." Signed as an 11th-round pick in 2006, Martinez played in 130 games for the Class A Jupiter Hammerheads of the Florida State League, batting .254 with 54 runs scored, 45 RBIs and 16 steals. In Puerto Rico, Martinez played for the Criollos of Caguas and recently began playing with the Arecibo Wolves. Got to say he is tough to be shot 3 times and make it! He might be tough, but is he "chicago tough"? I think not.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 02:46 AM) I heard the Hawk interview. I wouldn't go as far as to say he ripped on him, but he made it quite clear that this move needed to happen. He seemed to think that Ozzie hasn't had the same excitement for the job the last few years. Ozzie said it himself. Money is everything to him now. He doesn't give a f*** about anything else.

Thank you for making the right moves in 2005.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 12:12 AM) Why can't the Ozzie haters say at least, "Thanks for the memories." I would think that will come in coming days or months. The man is not evil, folks. You can't take away 2005. And our favorite team's failures are not all on this man. Give him his props, please. Or consider doing so. Because they were mostly bad memories. My memories of ozzie himself, not the white sox while he was here.

I really feel bad for marlins fans right now.

I'd be happier to see greg in a bar than ozzie. -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 04:58 PM) He's professional, smart, proven, and classy. I'd love to have him. To see how many people gripe about LaRussa or even Francona, it just boggles my mind. Especially when you have the crap the Sox have ran out. I haven't watched a game in a month and don't miss baseball at all. I hate this team and hate this organization right now. They are classless in the way they act and this is the most unlikeable team I've ever been a fan of. And to hear that the organizatoin might have zero major changes, it blows my mind. I completely agree with you. Id be thrilled with either of those two. I have watched them some though. Next year, I won't watch the ozzie guillen show, which is how the nation sees this team, unless the team is in first place all year. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 23, 2011 -> 10:10 PM) Crazy that Kemp also has 40 steals on the year Where do you think his season ranks historically considering this on top of everything else?

Is calling someone a donkey really that bad? -
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 23, 2011 -> 09:34 AM) This is the same thing as when people refer to a player as bad. Sure, he's light years ahead of any of us, but that's not the implicit comparison. And everyone knows this, but some people just want to stand out and bring a philosophical point into a discussion that doesn't need it. You are way off base by saying I want to stand out. People here really think he is 5' 9" tall and about 165 lbs. Read their posts. I don't think he is that small of a player. He is young looking and that may deceive people regarding his size.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 23, 2011 -> 08:06 PM) Are you guys gonna watch next year? Seems doubful with some of the comments made about 2012. That depends mostly on what changes are made to the team and management for me. Id still watch on tv for sure, but I doubt id go see more than two games if they go about things the same way as this year.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 23, 2011 -> 08:08 PM) Actually, we were happy with the performance but wanted to see how he'd do against a big league lineup. His ERA against any team but the Twins this year has to be in double digits. No one seemed to care about the twins lineup at the time. My point is simple. The verdict is still out on stewart. He isn't this bad and he isn't as good as he was against the twins as he was that night. What he will be is unkown right now. This isn't a good time to accurately judge the trade.

You guys are so funny. I have a feeling no one was saying all this when he almost threw a pefect game.
