  1. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Nov 6, 2011 -> 02:38 AM) As always, I am wetting myself with excitement for the winter meetings. That's when s*** really goes down. When are they? Before or after new years?
  2. b****es don't know s*** about my infrastructure.
  3. I feel like going into hibernation for a few months.
  4. I hope he hits 159 bombs next year.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 4, 2011 -> 08:29 PM) Why? Do athletes avoid the NBA or NFL because of their hard slotting system? Does the nfl have a hard slot now?
  6. I kind of think that the teams performance next year has little to do with if mark is around or not. For that reason I would not overpay the guy. Of course, mark has sentimental value. Please spare me the war argument btw. You can't predict what sale's value will be. If they don't sign mark ill assume they are more likely to keep danks and floyd.
  7. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 3, 2011 -> 10:28 PM) I thought J4L didn't like hockey? lol. That joke is still gold.
  8. Interesting that I've never heard it pronounced with a tilde. Maybe people were just more ignorant of spanish when he was a popular player?
  9. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 3, 2011 -> 10:55 AM) That doesn't change the fact that Robin lost that "fight" pretty decisively. If your criteria for deciding a fight is one guy bleeding from an area of the body only likely to bleed if smashed with a hammer, then there's never going to be a winner. What I was attempting to convey was that I don't care who won, it was under three seconds and no damage was done. Yet some people go on and on about 'Ryan kicking Ventura's ass' like they are little kids at a playground.
  10. I'd imagine someday the board will crap out, anyhow. They all seem to do that eventually. Some sooner than others. One place I used to post at had been around since 2001 and the owner decided to do a bunch of heroin or something. Next thing you know, the board is gone. Happens all the time.
  11. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 2, 2011 -> 09:46 PM) Green? No, no green. The consensus here is that the sox will have to kick in 3 million dollars to even make a team interested. I haven't seen anyone else arguing with that consensus but me, but I could have easily missed posts. Yes I know its merkin. But at least someone agrees with me.
  12. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 2, 2011 -> 11:22 PM) I can't imagine how hard a person would have to punch in order to cause another person to bleed from the top of their skull. That's my point. It doesn't even hurt to get punched in the top of the head. The guy is more likely to hurt his hand.
  13. That crap is so overblown and weak anyway. People who say "he kicked his ass', I think, have never been in a proper fight in their lives. Robin gets headlocked, while being held onto by two other people, smacked a couple times in the top of the head, and doesn't even bleed. The whole thing is over in like 3 seconds or less. And people still talk about it here like he was KO'd or hospitalized. Or that its sooooo embarrassing to lose a fight. Get a grip people.
  14. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Nov 2, 2011 -> 02:43 PM) In the spirit of fairness, it should be pointed out that Derek Jeter didn't win it this year. Yeah it was only 6 years too late.
  15. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Nov 1, 2011 -> 05:59 PM) Now available for your reading "pleasure:" http://www.amazon.com/When-Theo-Met-Tom-eb...7303&sr=8-2 lmao. Unbelievable.
  16. Remember when miguel cabrera was being intentionally walked but instead got the game winning hit? There is a logically extreme example.
  17. Four wrongs make a right and four rights make a circle, which is alright with me.
  18. QUOTE (PolishPrince34 @ Oct 30, 2011 -> 03:37 PM) In order to get get compensation for a Type A free agent you need to offer AJ arbitration. There is no way the Sox going to offer him at 6 million a year at the Age of 37 in 2012. No chance we get compensation so the best hope is an injury happens to another club during spring training or the season. He'll be 35 for the entire 2012 season, but you are almost certainly right about not offering it to him.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 29, 2011 -> 02:50 PM) Ozzie's legacy was 2005. He was shown the door because of multiple years of failure and turning the locker room into a completely dysfunctional mess. In 5 years, when you ask about Ozzie, the first thing you'll remember is 2005. The fact that he became a caricature of a manager for a few years will be the part that goes away in memories. It's only because certain people insisted that we had to view his current performance during the lens of 2005 that it seems like 05 has been forgotten. Yes. People still love ditka and he went through a similar situation.
  20. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Oct 30, 2011 -> 01:22 PM) How about top 10 batters and top 10 pitchers, and then any randoms anyone wants to throw in, like former Sox players or whatever. Sounds good. I'll donate a prize.
  21. Also he was making more money in 2010 than he will next year. Not less.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 30, 2011 -> 02:13 PM) AJ complaining about the 2010 trade rumors isn't enough? There are also people here who have said flat out the Sox tried to trade AJ and received crickets chirping in reply. AJ also hit about .220 in April, 2010, so his 2010 numbers looked like crap at the time. So you are basing it all on rumors. No, that doesn't seem like enough to me. The fact that they are published rumors doesn't help. No where in that article does it say they were offered nothing of value in return. I am not saying you are wrong, I am just saying I would need more evidence than that to believe a catcher coming off a year with a .300 average and .750 OPS has exactly zero trade value. You are hurting your own case by saying he sucked in april 2010. I mean, if that's the reason no one wanted him at the time, it doesn't suggest that no one would want him right now, and that was the point of my post.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 30, 2011 -> 02:01 PM) The phrase "All in" wasn't used until offseason 2010. They tried to move him in May 2010, before the 25-5 run, and would have done so had anyone wanted him. Yes he was healthy, but he was also a free agent at the end of the year, so moving him would have been an effort to get something for him. He also earned 10-5 rights in June of 2010. Yeah I was talking about deadline time 2011 with the second part of my post. Not sure why I called it last year. They could have moved him quite easily in may 2010. They probably felt entitled to a return, if they even tried. He was coming off a .300 year. I am not going to believe otherwise without a reason. What is the reason? Why do you state it like its a fact?
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 30, 2011 -> 01:43 PM) They've at least shopped him 2 years in a row. 2010, they'd have moved him had they had any takers, and that was when he was paid less. What makes you think they'd move him in 2010? He had no suitable replacement then. Last year too. Was he even healthy at the deadline? They were still going "all in" at the time.
