  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 22, 2011 -> 08:01 AM) ckamka Christopher Kamka Let the records show that the only guy to hit HR off Verlander & Weaver (1 and 2 in AL Cy Young vote) in 2011 was Adam Dunn. Seriously, I can't believe it.
  2. I think we will get better production out of morel than figgins. He does not need more time in aaa. He is either going to take it to the next step in his career now, or never.
  3. I was 6 years old in 1988. For those that remember 1988, why did gibson get the nod over strawberry? His numbers are crap comparatively. I thought for sure I'd find out that he was a center fielder when I first saw them. But no. Both played the corner. Edit: probably the batting average. Too bad.
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 19, 2011 -> 08:04 PM) Get over yourself, I could care less what you think. I said what happened and you want to get all terminology nazi on me. Grow up Well if you weren't so condesending I wouldn't have wondered why you were. In any case I apologize.
  5. Hoping for henderson to take the bout tonight and get a title shot afterward. I find the fight tough to predict but I would say a KO by henderson or a decision by rua both seem to be likely outcomes.
  6. I've never heard that before. Regardless, what you said was misleading to the average fan, as you didn't specify which it was and the term is much more commonly associated with a kick. If this were a boxing match you would be well understood instead of vague and confusing regarding the type of strike thrown. Part of me wonders if you are just hoping for a response like mine so you have a chance to be a smart ass in a vain effort to sound knowledgable. Alternatively, perhaps you were just offended about being misunderstood. I'm not sure which is the case but you may want to focus on being clearer in the future.
  7. QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 18, 2011 -> 02:48 PM) It's not that they should have been better. Halladay's numbers were perfectly normal and neutral in terms of luck (.298 BABIP). On the other hand, Kershaw had a .270 BABIP against when his batted ball rates were inferior to that of Halladay's. On average, Halladay gave up less balls in play that were likely to leave the yard and induced more weak pop outs than Kershaw. Their LD%, which more or less determines a pitcher's BABIP due to their likelihood to fall for hits, were almost the same. The difference was more or less contributed to defense and luck. BUT, that is only me trying to explain the difference in their WHIPs. When you adjust their ERAs to their home parks, the two are literally on par. In fact, Halladay was 1% better. If you're really trying to find who the best pitcher is, you need to put them on equal ground. Kershaw had an advantage by pitching in a pitcher's park while Halladay pitched in a neutral park that slightly favored hitters. That alone says Halladay was better in terms of ERA. No, that alone does not. There are so many other factors that you are ignoring in that statement. Some of them can never possibly be measured by statistics, no matter how advanced.
  8. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 18, 2011 -> 10:10 AM) I kind of like it, because I don't really use Twitter. He helps enable my laziness. +1
  9. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Nov 17, 2011 -> 12:17 AM) I've been lusting over Gardner for a while now. I want to see Danks for Gardner + prospect trade. At least that makes some sense. Throwing in Q?
  10. QUOTE (soxfan-kwman @ Nov 16, 2011 -> 11:49 PM) Quentin & Danks for Brett Gardner & prospects. Unless you name some prospects that looks horrible.
  11. And even more ironic, is that you rushed to judgment by putting any belief in that rumor in that post.
  12. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 15, 2011 -> 08:51 PM) http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/...ult-source-says New rumor, Mcqueary did speak with the police. This is why we dont rush to judgment based on hearsay evidence in a grand jury indictment. You rushed to judgement, making assumptions, in this thread. I read it. Please save the lecture.
  13. QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 16, 2011 -> 11:07 AM) 4 yr - 60 mil + performance bonuses. *pukes* I'd go 4 years 44 mil. Or 3 years 36 mil. I thought my offer was low compared to what most would give. Yours just seems outrageously high.
  14. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 12, 2011 -> 08:30 PM) Finally starting to get a handle on this year's NFL season... Hit a big bet last week on the Bears with the Bears ML and over the total. Dallas -5.5 over Buffalo St Louis +3 over Cleveland Denver+150 outright over KC Seattle +7 vs Baltimore Chicago -2.5 over Detroit NYG +3.5 vs SF NE +2 vs NYJ Minnesota +13 vs GB wow
  15. QUOTE (Real @ Nov 15, 2011 -> 12:00 AM) De Aza is a fringe AAA/MLB player, hell no he isn't an MLB leadoff hitter. What are you basing that on? If its on his age alone, like so many other people, you may want to to take a closer look at his career.
  16. He should have said absolutely nothing. Taking 20 seconds to answer the question, "Are you sexually attracted to young boys?" is not a good strategy.
  17. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 12, 2011 -> 09:29 PM) Cain dropped early in the first round by JDS. Roundhouse to the temple, sit down. ground and pound, goodnight It was a punch, not a roundhouse (kick).

    i am drunk

    I'm drinking a glass of vodka on the rocks, extra strong.
  19. I just read the second half of this thread today. Madness. The things I do when I'm bored at work. I have very little to add other than its great to see everyone finally took a step back to wait for more evidence and reliable information. Most of the aguing was based on incomplete knowledge of the situation, though it seems a lot of those involved aren't willing to admit that. Personally, everything I know about the case is from this thread. I can't wrap my mind around how all of the proposed facts would fit together. It just does not make sense to me.
  20. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 10, 2011 -> 02:07 PM) How do you pronounce your name? Flay-vum or flah-vum? Fla-vum.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 10, 2011 -> 11:49 AM) While i appreciate the intellectual exercise you are trying to take people on here, you are pretty much wasting your time here. And that is coming from someone who is always wrapped up in stupid arguments. lol.
  22. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 10, 2011 -> 11:41 AM) Mac, We dont know what Paterno was told. He has yet to be given a chance to say what he was told. All I am saying is that Paterno at least deserves a chance to give his side of the story and why he took those actions, before we rush to judgment. Im not saying that at the end of the fact finding I wont agree he should be fired, Im just saying that we dont have all the facts, so how can we be sure? How do you know that he wasn't given a chance by his superiors before being fired?
  23. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 10, 2011 -> 11:35 AM) Husker, Paterno isnt the president, the President could have banned Sandusky. The President did further interviews with the GA and then did nothing. Paterno is a football coach, his job is to report the action and let the appropriate people handle it. Correct me if Im wrong, but in 2002 Sandusky was not even part of Paterno's staff? If you heard one of your colleagues had been seen raping a 10 year old boy, would you feel morally obligated to tell the police? Or force your superiors to tell the police? Don't you think that warrants a investigation?
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 8, 2011 -> 01:08 PM) The "Low risk, high reward" move is holding on to him for 1 more season. The High Risk, low reward move is trading him. I agree with that but if someone wants to overpay for him with prospects that kenny really likes he would pull the trigger and I would be happy about that.
