QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 09:59 PM) Definitely would seem that Ramirez is going nowhere if this does go down... At least this year I would say.

"finalizing terms" expected with the white sox is what he said exactly.

Fox just reported we have him during the game. *fist pump*

Ozzie will further endear himself with these comments

They don't really come to watch baseball though. They come to get drunk, go hang out in wrigleyville and watch baseball. So I don't think they are better fans in any way. They just have a more attractive non-baseball experience overall when attending a game. -
You left out defense.

All of them, but some more than others.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 20, 2013 -> 08:45 PM) I think the Tigers vs. Red Sox could be a great ALCS, one of the better ones in a long time. It could be if both teams represent themselves accordingly or it could be a sweep. Its all about who is hot at the time.

Considering the number of problems this team has offensively signing 2 players would be a more effective use of that money.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 25, 2013 -> 02:46 AM) PK seems to have good hands. Gillispie bobbles alot of grounders. He reminds me of an ordinary college infielder who is not reliable. I could be mistaken. I haven't seen the lack of range everybody's talking about with Paulie. Maybe on pop ups to the outfield or in foul ground since he can't run. It seems to me Paulie gloves everything and Gillaspie does not. If I'm mistaken, fine. I haven't seen as many games this year as last. I never got that impression. I wonder if there are stats to back that up. I wish I have seen more games this year. To me it seems like Gillispie is doing a mediocre job. -

QUOTE (scs787 @ Aug 22, 2013 -> 11:05 PM) 5 hits in his last 2 games...Would be real nice if he turn into something but I'm not really counting on it. I think he will be a replacement value player but maybe I am too optimistic. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 22, 2013 -> 10:51 PM) Personally, I think it's nuts to pitch Reed again tonight. No reason to risk injury. I was thinking, which is painful at this point - Do you think that over pitching a guy in a period of time can cause a long term injury? I kind of think it it would just be a short term muscle type injury. I wouldn't even risk that at this point either, though. -
QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 22, 2013 -> 01:05 PM) BHB is one of the sweetest beers I've ever had. Better than macros for me, but yeah isn't anything to write home about. He's been promoting a new variety, MVP edition or something. Also, that is an excellent O-face Like a porter or sweeter?

QUOTE (scs787 @ Aug 19, 2013 -> 12:42 AM) I stand corrected. I thought his post was the same as the poll....It's possible that a few teams like Philly, San Diego, San Fran, or the Mets all finish with a worse record. So did I. Then I read his post and wanted to change my vote to an option that didn't exist.

QUOTE (scs787 @ Aug 19, 2013 -> 12:25 AM) No one has said 7 or 8...I think 5 or 6 is a possibility if they continue to play like that have been in August (.500 so far for the month). I don't think there's a chance they finish behind Houston or Miami. I think Milwaukee w/o Braun has a good chance at a worse record. I'm really hoping the finish ahead of the Cubs, just cuz. I also wouldn't be surprised to see them finish ahead of the Twins. The OP does.

7th or 8th pick? Jesus. I want something in the middle to happen. Young guys play strong but we get the 3rd or 4th pick.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 18, 2013 -> 11:09 AM) Here is why you should pull for the Sox to bring in Axe to kill games. The Sox will lose 90+ games. It's better for them to lose 100 and get Rodon than lose 95 and get the 3rd pick. Why? Scouting for baseball is getting better and better with the improvement of technology. #1 picks are becoming more and more of a sure thing (Stras, Harper, Cole). 100% accurate? No. More accurate than even 6 years ago (Tim Beckham)? Yes. The Sox are in a position to rebuild and rebuild fast. They have an ace, they have a #2, and a #3 already in place. If Danks/Rienzo/Johnson/Leesman can be #4's and #5's, the the rotation is actually set. They have Reed, Jones, and Webb to build the pen around. Maybe even Petricka and Leesman. They have a good bats for next year in Alexei, De Aza, Garcia, and Dunn in place. Maybe Gordon has really figured it out, Conor, Phegley, and Viciedo can all improve. Maybe L. Garcia makes Alexei expendable. The Sox have a lot of cash to spend on FAs like Abreu, Morales, and McCann. Hell, if they clear Dunn they can even make a run at Ellsbury. So I'd rather the Sox lose 5 more games and get a talent like Rodon in the system than five meaningless wins because their stay at the bottom of the league may be very, very short lived. I just don't think they can possibly catch those awful teams, especially houston. So that weighs into my decision for hoping to see the players on the roster do well. Another thing - if the players on the roster just suck all year enough to lose 105 games then we have more major problems than a number one pick will solve. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 18, 2013 -> 12:28 AM) I can't believe my love the Sox is still getting questioned with "troll" accusations. El Rockin is the most optimistic Sox fan ever, beyond belief, and yet nobody calls him a troll. I just praise him cause he's so optimistic. I think Dick Allen is the only one who has mentioned some of my opinions actually turn out 100 percent correct yet my haters bring up the "troll" stuff occasionally. I wouldn't attribute it all to haters. I suspect most people are pessimistic in general. Posters here don't seem to persecute the negative posters nearly as often. I'm sure there are other reasons I feel this way too. Maybe I am just biased. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 10:08 PM) How do you know Miggy is clean? I don't, I just don't like giving credit to past hitters who were consensus cheaters.
