  1. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 8, 2014 -> 05:47 PM) Adam Dunn on the boos he got from White Sox fans: "I have a fantasy (football) team and I wasn't happy with those guys either." Wow, that's kind of horrible. At first I thought it was funny. But then I thought, that really trivializes all fans interest and desire to win for their team. I mean, we shouldnt care at all that he sucks, because we aren't on the team. So fandom of a team is equated with fantasy teams? Ugh. I'm not even a hater and I don't like this comment at all.
  2. I'd rather see that 40m go toward a contract that is long term.
  3. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 1, 2014 -> 07:35 PM) Greg is right. The Sox have an incredibly small, but very loyal fanbase that needs a winner on the field. I remember the map of fandoms by county and the only White Sox ones were Cook, Kankakee and Will counties. What about lake county, IN?
  4. Maybe it doesn't even help abreu see better pitches except rarely, but having a big bat after him definitely helps the sox score more runs.
  5. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 31, 2014 -> 10:34 AM) Lineup protection is a myth. Eventually, it will become an idea left in the past. Seriously? Do you have an explanation for this?
  6. I really don't want victor. He is 36. His eyes could deteriorate the slightest bit this offseason, enough to make him a much worse hitter. Then we have another old bad one dimensional player. Who else is a free agent?
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 31, 2014 -> 10:18 AM) He pretty much sucked, but he isn't an asshole and he always gave good effort. He also wasn't paid with my inheritance money, so while I was disappointed in the results, hating Adam Dunn isn't on my radar. Did he?
  8. I didn't vote for these: I am disappointed and hold Robin Ventura responsible for the bullpen debacle (Hahn didn't do his best work. Injuries were an issue. Coops vertigo had more to do with it. I'd vote this option 4th) Finishing on a sour note takes some of the positivity away (I hope the sox suck)
  9. QUOTE (TheHammer @ Aug 24, 2014 -> 04:19 PM) Why would someone who has donated to ALS research be annoyed by this? The only reason I can think of is that they are a huge narcissist who only donated in the first place to get some kind of credit for being someone who donates money. I have donated to ALS. I find this annoying. Its the narcissism (HEY LOOK AT ME!! ICE WATER!!!) that I find annoying. That's why its popular, because it appeals to the selfish (which are the masses). Overall its a very good thing, we agree. I just don't like watching the stupid videos. I don't find that part entertaining in anyway. I'm kind of tired of your implied insults and closed mindedness. Believe it or not, you don't know why or how other people have formed their opinions.
  10. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Aug 24, 2014 -> 09:17 AM) Go to MLB.com and listen to the video from beckham. I kinda feel he knocks the sox a bit. Well Gordon were excited your gone.... I don't really agree but I am glad he is gone. He talks about HIS baggage with chicago. Takes responsibility for it.
  11. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Aug 21, 2014 -> 09:28 PM) I did my challenge today and donated to ALS and Down Syndrome Association of NW Indiana. And honestly, without this challenge being a viral phenomenon, I probably would have never donated to ALS, so all the people who "hate how annoying it is" have no soul . So you needed a viral, attention whoring event to become aware enough to make a donation, but everyone who had donated to ALS research before it existed is soulless if they are annoyed even a little bit. Gotcha. I dont believe in souls but that is still a pretty ignorant and derogatory thing to say.
  12. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 18, 2014 -> 09:02 AM) The guy is already ridiculously strong, i doubt PEDs would solve his lack of contact issues Testosterone promoting type PEDs also help with vision and hand eye coordination from what I have read.
  13. I don't agree with the implications in the phrase 'only 5 1/2 games back in the WC'. The sox suck. That's why people don't attend. They suck. There are 4 teams who suck more in the AL. That's all. They were horrific to watch last year. Its going to take more a lot more winning than they have been doing to bring back the fans in numbers.
  14. If anyone did care I believe Jose Abreu, the best new hitter in baseball for many years, would be more of an attraction that some prospects.
  15. No s***?? I have vertigo right now too.
  16. QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 6, 2014 -> 12:18 PM) Flowers on pace for just under 2 WAR. That doesn't seem bad.
  17. What about the start of the year when he was hitting everything? How the f*** did he do that if he couldn't even see?
  18. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 15, 2014 -> 09:51 PM) I've liked the transition to El Hombre better. Or Pito, which is the actual nickname that he has. Dick?
  19. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 15, 2014 -> 07:56 PM) A person with knowledge of the situation told Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle that Brady Aiken has a "cut-and-dry" issue with his left ulnar collateral ligament. It sounds like Aiken might have an abnormally small UCL, and even though it's not damaged, the Astros are contending that it makes him more at risk going forward. "He may have some (of the UCL), but not much," Drellich's source said. Aiken's advisor, Casey Close, is claiming that Aiken is perfectly healthy and worth every penny of the previously agreed to $6.5 million bonus. The Astros are willing to offer the lefty $3.16884 million. The two sides have until Friday afternoon to work things out. Source: Houston Chronicle Poor astros fans.
  20. I'm willing to bet that a lot of the same people who complained that we never go over slot are complaining that we did with Rodon.
  21. Is beckham a substantial upgrade for them?
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 30, 2014 -> 12:44 PM) How many left shoulders does he have? At least 3.
  23. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jun 14, 2014 -> 11:30 AM) No, it "is" a Jerry thing, just as it "was" a Comiskey, Veeck, and Allyn thing. You're correct: no owner of the Sox has been able to build sustainable success, which is why the franchise has had attendance problems for decades upon decades. But Reinsdorf is the owner now, so the spotlight and microscope is on him. And my point in responding to a poster who rightfully pointed out that the solution to the attendance problem was building sustainable success was suggesting we try a new owner, because the current one has proven incapable of building a consistent winner over a very wide, 34 year period. f*** that's sad. Personally, I've never been less entusiastic about being a sox fan. I can't tell you why exactly, but it is a combination of last year, robin, jerry, the blackhawks, and most of all, stone and hawk. They just bore me to death. I can barely listen anymore. Maybe I need to get to some games.
