Gooch has a huge intangible meaning to this team and its success. He has been key in many, many tying/go ahead innings, always doing what Oz asks of him and never questioning. Add to the fact that he is doing it against a league of pitchers and hitters that he has never faced or seen....its quite amazing.

yup Al, I expect someone from the bullpen to be perspiring out on the mound by the 6th inning no doubt. Sad to say, but true.

Don't be surprised if you see an old Sox guy revist the Southside on the September callups, maybe even before if someone gets hurt. He is raking the ball in AAA, and IMO a decent fill-in if/when we need him... Norton, you're the greatest!!

Jenks' "stuff" has never been the question...its teh stuff between the ears that has always been the issue. I sincerely hope Jenks is mentally ready to help this team out.

Kinda baffling to me also Kalapse...I'm not ready to throw Jenks into this division race. I'm also not ready to EVER see Kevin Walker on the mound for the Sox again. BMac needed to be sent down, yes. But SO does Walker, or released.

No one should get their hopes up concerning trading Contreras. He makes quite a bit of money still this year, and most teams can see that Jose just doesn't seem to respond to anyone out there while on the mound. Not sure if there is a pitching coach in the majors that can get through to this guy.
