    Maggs

You got it, man. That is the situation. The numbers are there for Soriano, and at a MUCH cheaper price. I am probably in the minority here, but I'm all for that trade.
  2. Sorry to hear that, Mark. We'll look forward to seeing ya back on the boards soon!!
  3. That first line you typed there bones r, that was a joke right? Go listen to almost any rock band out there right now, and see if they dont list The Beatles as one of their main influences. BANDS, people that play music and write it, not people that sing lyrics written by others.
  4. Jas, a couple of things. 1st, I for one DO NOT want another infielder-to-centerfield experiment during the season. If Soriano comes over, he plays 2B, and we live with the defense. Also, if we decline Sullys 3 mill option, I'm not sure he is gonna turn back around and re-up with us for less money. Also, I STILL am not sold on bringing in Ponson at a contract that is worth more per year than our farm grown guys that may deserve more. I don't think anyone will be trying to acquire Konerko, that money is super glued to our payroll for 2004. Same for Koch. Everett will go somewhere else, but honestly, if we can do the trade for Soriano, that opens up RF for Carl. CR would have to be AaRow/Reed Spring Training winner. With the raises to Loaiza (~500K-->3.5 mil), Konerko (6 mil-->8 mil), we are already adding payroll on to a number still supposedly set at about 51 mill. The ONLY way we get to have a 60 mill payroll is if Colon signs, thats it. If not, JR gets to staple his wallet back.

    Maggs

Folks, baseball is a game of economics, plain and simple. Profits and losses, attendance numbers and concession sales. I'm sorry that some people on here think that Maggs is the Almighty himself, cause he is not. There are guys out there putting up the numbers that he is putting up making ALOT less than the $14 mill he is scheduled to make. When such moves are to be made, economics are the #1 deciding factor, I'm sorry to tell you that. I'm all for trading Maggs if he doesn't want to rework his contract for this year, reward him with an extension on top of it. But if he doesn't, and the right offer comes along, I say Thanks for what you did for the franchise Maggs, but we are forced to make a move that fits our current financial situation. Now, for some posters that say, "Anyone that wants to trade Maggs is a retard" or something along those lines: listen, I would be probably low on my estimates that at least 90% of Sox fans don't want Maggs going anywhere. Fact of the matter is, if we can make a move that will benefit the WHOLE club, and clear some payroll room, we must do so. $14 mill for 1 player on a $60 mill, 25 player roster is unacceptable, plain and simple.
  6. yeah...and then they dropped out of oblivion, like the rest of british music before Oasis...AND THEN, RH came back AFTER Oasis blew the door right open... which brings me to... which is even easier for me....you're wrong. sigur Ros? they influenced who? the 12 people who bought their album? If you would have said Bjork, then maybe...cos she's why anyone even listens to Sigur Ros. good lord...I need to go home. Oh give me a break, you're full of s*** and you know it. The Bends was immensely popular, and with Pablo Honey Radiohead created a considerable fan base. Was OK Computer huge because of Oasis? No, and neither was The Bends. Sigur Ros hasn't influenced anyone? Radiohead has made it pretty clear that part of Kid A was based off of Agaetis Byrjun, the group's 2nd album after Von. Also, I love it how you're completely ignorant and assume the following: Sigur Ros is unpopular and everyone likes Sigur Ros because of Bjork. I don't listen to Bjork at all, and I really doubt I will.

  8. I'll just agree to disagree with ya on the 1966-70 part, winodj. As for James Brown, yeah...I can believe that.
  9. All I have to say is..... Rod f***ing Stewart??? :puke
  10. Wow....Killa, I hate to say this...it could be a first....I...AGREE with you!!! No reason to put the money towards that sack o' garbage in the NBA, when he can let the kids get experience in Chicago now, without the felon. Spend that money on the area that needs it, 333 W. 35th St.
  11. Yeh, I would like to see Sully back o nthe Southside, but not at his current $3 mil option price. Too much for our club to spend on any setup guy not named Marte. BTW, Jas, why back to Red? The Green wasn't fitting? Green is where its at!!!
  12. No need to get testy, PA, just all of us voicing our dofferent opinions. You have your belief that Oasis provided some important purpose in the music world, and I think that even the music of The Greg Kihns Band was more important than anything that Oasis did. Thats the beauty of the message board, that we all do have opinions. NO reason to call Everyone out in one stereotypical yhelp, disclaiming that everyone here likes Creed and Metallica :puke
  13. You can't expect JR and his boys to just change the way they operate after over 20 years of the same ole s*** every year. Therefore, I am proposing possible trades and signings that will keep this regime happy in terms of the payroll, and keep us competitive.
  14. I'm only happy if they decide that its Maggs that they must trade to clear the money. I'm not so sure that there is anything wrong with K-Dub being in charge. Soriano, the kid can only improve. Maggs, OTOH, is gonna break our payroll with his salary. Soriano is younger, cheaper, and fills a position we need.
  15. Damn, Killa, I apologize. I'm so used to refuting all your posts that it came naturally for me to blame you again on that one I am sorry. Yeah, hehe, guess that is what K-Dub means, I just now noticed it.
  16. We can hope so, IB72. I would love to give K-Dub my opinion on it. Thats a trade that you can make and know that it was with the best intentions for the club. You are filling more than 1 need by doing so.
  17. Agreed, Yahtzee...why trade the guy when he is finally coming into his own? He is starting to become a complete player, minus the occasional fielding gaffes. If anyone, Maggs goes to the Yanks for Soriano, we get about $12 mill off the books, and get a needed second baseman also.
  18. I am right there with ya on that thought, Yahtzee. I think that Jose time has served its duration. I'd love to see us make a run for Matsui, and trade Maggs for Soriano...thats a damn fine infield IMO.
  19. Agreed, Mario Kart was loads of fun. Another personal favorite of mine was F-Zero on Super Nintendo. We used to sit around and play that game for hours.
  20. PA, that may be the biggest understatement I've seen in a while. Oasis' influence on the grand scheme of the musical scene is minute at best IMO.
  21. Good call Cali, FNM were way ahead of their time when it comes to Rap-Core music. As for the Gallager brothers in Oasis, , those guys....wow, gonna be bigger than the Beatles, but yet you can't stop bickering with each other. good luck with that, Assclowns.
  22. I for one am voting 'neigh' when it comes down to paying our .237 hitting Rock Glove another $5 million for his efforts.
  23. Maybe, Killa, but the guy is starting to be Frank Thomas Part II. Going and whining to the Press everytime things arent so great. I can think of other ways for this organization to spend $5 million.
  24. Obviously, IMO The Beatles were the biggest musical influence...and I agree that what The Who brought to music was unmistakable, if thats a word. I'm gonna add a couple here that are influential to me, of not the world: OutKast---Yeah, I know, doesnt seem right, but what those 2 do lyrically, and the mix of jazz, rock, metal, etc. is amazing if you just sit back and listen, Fiona Apple--- To me, she is the first real younger generation female who can just sit on a Piano and play music from the heart. She was the first IMO to do so in quite a while. Foo Fighters--- IMO, what Dave Grohl has done Post-Nirvana has far outweighed what he did with them. His ability to cover each instrument with his group, his vocals and lyrics, and the fact that everything they do gets better and better. OK, so not the most groundbreaking artists, but those that influence my musical background the most right now.
