    Soriano

If Soriano is brought in, I dont want another failed second baseman-to-Center Field experiment. Put the kid at second, let him play the position everyday, and quit trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. Its not like we haven't seen plenty of errors out of Ray-Ray and Blockhead Jiminez at the position.
  2. Good Lord, KW....if the Yanks are offering one of the most exciting 2Bmen in the league, who is still cheap AND young, how the hell do you not take that deal?!? I guess it makes too much sense for K-Dub, and he is confused. Its $14 mill off the books, management, thats all you need to know with this regime.
  3. I'll take K-Dub's word on this one. I believe him, and can only hope that this will further convince KW not to bring Manos back to the Southside.
  4. WHOA!!! What the hell?? I dunno what happened there. Just did my normal quoting procedure.
  5. No chance in hell that we can give credit to a guy that can't even sign in correctly!!!
  6. Yep, how true Jas....Case in Point, Albert Belle...
  7. Wait, I thought JosE6 was Mr. Clutch for our team? God, I get so tired of hearing that everytime he goes 1 for 4 with a HR.
  8. No offense to Jason, but I think I'd :puke if I had to see a calendar of dudes in their draws!!! Scary thought
  9. Huh? I wasn't saying that you said we should get Manny, I was just posting the fact that for all the positives about his production, between Maggs and he, thats 57% of our projected payroll.... :puke
  10. I'm probably alone in this line of thinking, but I don't wanna see a salary cap in Baseball. Look at how many veterans get cut in the NFl because of salary cap reasons. There are other, better ways to control spending in the MLB. The salary cap in football IMO has had catastrophic effects on the guys who served their time in the league, and get rewarded by getting released because of the cold, hard numbers.
  11. I second that notion ABoz, don't watch it, don't honestly care anything about it. Theres always that lull between the end of football, and the beginning off baseball to me.
  12. NO chance. Lets see, with Manny and Maggs, we would only have 57% of our payroll in 2 players. Thats a GREAT idea!!!
  13. No offense to Kip, but it was Capn12 that gave you that hint....damn you!!

    maddux

Wow, I feel.....so....misinformed. I thought Maddux made 20 mil last year. At 14.75 million, its a bit of a different situation. But if the best offer that Maddux gets is a 6-7 million for 1 year offer, the MLBPA will be SCREAMING collusion at all the owners.
  15. I'm not arguing whether or not the Union is doing its job or not though, cw, I'm saying that the MLBPA as a union is too strong as it is, and anything that happens from now on to heighten its power is obsurd. IMO the MLBPA does not have much ground to walk on, and they are already teetering ever so closely to losing their livelyhood by alienating those that are the most important to this game that they control.
  16. And don't forget, after they put in their minimum service time, they have a pension to look forward to also!! :fyou MLBPA
  17. I'm not normally an ass man, but Holy Hell in a Handbasket, look at that ass!!
  18. Yeah, but when you combine one of the games best hitters, with one of the games worst work ethics, this happens. Every team would grow tired of Mannys attitude towards the game after a while.
  19. Yeah, Steve my fault. San Diego got him from the Reds, so that Atlanta would NOT get him. I got too many baseball facts rolling around in my head, sorry!!

    maddux

Yeah, but Jas, the MLBPA would never allow that. Going from a 1 yr/20 mill contract to a 1 yr/6 mill one, thats a 70% decrease in salary, and MLBPA doesnt believe in that!!!
  21. So, Rex, that current contract is pretty much set in stone for Manny then? If thats teh case, yeah no one is gonna bite on Manny
  22. The most well known usage of the waiver wire was when San Diego put Randy Myers on waivers in the 90's, and teh Braves picked him up to keep thier competitors from picking him up. They were stuck with a broken down reliever with a HUGE contract.
  23. SS2K4, cant you use an image program to convert it to JPG?? Go download ABC from Download.com. Its Advanced Batch COnverter, it will allow you to convert to all kinds of file formats.
  24. Come on now!!! Lets get serious....its nothing like Willie Haris asking for 20 million, because at least Willie can run
  25. I don't really think you can say that a "large portion" of their stuff was pop based. Of their 17 albums that were released in the US, 8 of them were pre-Rubber Soul, which is when most Beatles 'historians' would say their sound changed. Even then, there was alot on those first 8 albums, after "A Hard Day's Night" that could be considered creatively different.
