I Believe
QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ May 4, 2015 -> 02:38 PM) And you should too. From the encroaching darkness heroes emerge. Let KC and Detroit have their April, for our Summer of the Sox hasn't even begun. Only 140 left. But I'm with you.

The White Sox Looming Decision
QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ May 4, 2015 -> 02:37 PM) What are you digging at? What do you want me to admit? That I speculated about KW's influence? Again, I continue to be suprised that you are a mod here. I have been nothing but cordial to you for weeks and you insulted me for no reason after 8 pages of good discussion and then when I answer you you continue to dig at....what exactly? I have no f***ing idea who runs this club at the end of the day. Neither does anyone here unless they are JR or his family. Given that, we can only surmise and use induction. I have surmised that Micah over Sanchez was KW. Why? Because KW has drafted a million Micah's and not a single one has ever panned out. The move reeks of his scouting stereotype hard on -- a track star on the baseball field. Kind of like Emilio Bonifacio.

Ventura on his job status
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 4, 2015 -> 12:40 PM) if these guys like Robin as much as they say they do, they had better start to figure things out quickly. Eventually fan response at the gate will dictate a change is needed. In this , the 35th season Jerry Reinsdorf has owned the White Sox, please tell me when attendance determined a manager's fate.

2015-2016 NFL Thread
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 4, 2015 -> 12:26 PM) Its really surprising no one wasted a 7th on him. His agent told teams after the 3rd round that if they drafted him, he would not sign, and thus be eligible for the 2016 draft. Now he isn't eligible. Each team has something like an $88,000 pool of bonus money to give their UDFA. He will lose some bonus money, assuming he is cleared of any wrongdoing, but in return, he gets to pick his spot.

The White Sox Looming Decision
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ May 4, 2015 -> 12:22 PM) I don't think his point is that the team is this bad, but rather that the team has dug themselves into a hole that requires an exceptional performance to get out of, and that he doesn't think the team is capable of such a performance. That's a reasonable claim, I think. I mean obviously all of us are going to hold out for a magic run because, as you said, it's not reasonable to expect ALL of our players to blow this hard, but his larger game theory point is an interesting one: if you think you're out of it, do you take advantage of the small market and sell early? Then why isn't he saying the AL West race is over. The 2001 White Sox, after losing Frank Thomas and David Wells, finished the season 83-79 with Jerry Manuel at the helm. On May 5th, they were 8-19 11.5 games out. Granted they didn't win, if they playoffs were set up then like they are now, they missed by 2 games, but too much is made out of this doom and gloom.

The White Sox Looming Decision
Considering Cameron pretty much runs fangraphs which likes to mention sample size from time to time, I find it odd he can come to total conclusions based on 24 games of role player performance.

The White Sox Looming Decision
This guy gave the White Sox an 8% chance to begin with and now feels the need to pat himself on the back. There is no question the team has been terrible, but as I pointed out yesterday, during the course of a 6 month season, stretches where you lose like this happens to just about everyone. And I would guess if you looked at numbers during these stretches, players numbers are generally awful. I looked and Detroit and KC last year, the 2 teams that made the playoffs. Detroit had a 7-17 stretch, KC had a 9-17 stretch. The 2005 White Sox had a 5-12 stretch and a 7-12 stretch. If the team truly is as bad as they are playing, they have no chance anyway. But to think a team that hasn't homered in almost 2 weeks and has 1 starter with an ERA below 5.00 is what it is, well, I don't agree.

Why does *any* member of the White Sox front office deserve their job?
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 4, 2015 -> 09:14 AM) My opinion is that yours is wrong. Right.

Why does *any* member of the White Sox front office deserve their job?
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 4, 2015 -> 09:02 AM) Ooh, I know the answer! It is a far more mature reason than the reason for this BS post.

Why does *any* member of the White Sox front office deserve their job?
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 4, 2015 -> 09:06 AM) Counsell was being groomed for a spot ever since he retired. If we hire another high school volunteer, I imagine people will indeed be pissed. If we hire Dave Martinez I don't think they will be. Robin was working for the White Sox when he was hired. It is amazing being "groomed" for the position didn't include actually coaching or managing, and included letting him interview to be Boston's hitting coach and Tampa Bay's manager. Just more of the grass is greener.....

Why does *any* member of the White Sox front office deserve their job?
QUOTE (flavum @ May 4, 2015 -> 09:01 AM) Fans venting about an under-performing team is what you're going to get from any fan base. I don't think anyone is coming off like they have all of the answers. It seems like people here bother you more than the Sox. Which I would have to ask, why do you post here if it bothers you so much? No one is coming off like they have all the answers? Really?

Why does *any* member of the White Sox front office deserve their job?
QUOTE (flavum @ May 4, 2015 -> 08:50 AM) Just pulling the pins from the grenades, huh? All these threads are much to do about nothing because Ventura isn't getting fired any time soon, but if he was replaced by a guy with no experience, all the experts here, who have all the answers, would be complaining even more.

Why does *any* member of the White Sox front office deserve their job?
QUOTE (oldsox @ May 4, 2015 -> 07:49 AM) On the subject of ineffective Managers, the Brewers just fired Ron Roenicke. And replaced him with someone with zero managerial or coaching experience. A Soxtalk no no. The only people who know how to manage a baseball team with no managerial or coaching experience are people who post on message boards.

Why does *any* member of the White Sox front office deserve their job?
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 4, 2015 -> 08:12 AM) I feel like this is a lot more of Hahn's team then people want to admit. Kenny is the boogeyman to this board. It's gone from slurping Hahn during the winter, praising every move, to now every move has KW's fingerprints on it, he has to go. While I do agree he should go to at least make it appear Hahn is the actual GM, Hahn is now the Don Cooper of White Sox executives. Nothing he does is bad, only good. If bad occurs, it has nothing to do with him. If Hahn totally disagreed with the moves being made, I am sure he could put up a stink, and ultimately find another job pretty easily. I also don't think the winter moves were bad, and ultimately the White Sox will play better, hopefully starting tomorrow.

Why should Robin Ventura have a MLB manager job
QUOTE (TitoMB @ May 3, 2015 -> 06:11 PM) For every example you can find of a good team having a bad stretch, I can find 5 bad teams that have had the same thing. If you are saying the White Sox are a bad team, changing managers does nothing.

Why should Robin Ventura have a MLB manager job
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 3, 2015 -> 05:53 PM) If you don't want to call it that, then it is a team that is one of two things. Fundemenetally worthless, or incredibly tight. Either way, there is a breakdown somewhere in getting this team to play the kind of game they need to play. They don't look relaxed. They don't look comfortable, and then don't look confident. These are supposed to be Ventura's strengths. He is supposed to be an even keel guy that keeps his team from getting to high or too low, and gets respect for going about things the right way. Whatever is going on there, one thing can't be denied. When this team gets on the field, they are a disaster right now. It is a bad stretch without a doubt, but ever team goes through them. KC went through an 8-13 stretch last season, then lost 4 of their next 5. The Tigers went through a 7-17 stretch. This one is blown out of proportion because it is the beginning of the season and its all we have. Just keep in mind most teams will go on stretches where they win 8 of 21 or even worse.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 3, 2015 -> 01:45 PM) From where? Melky! Garci, LaRoche, Abreu, Alexei will hit a few, Flowers. Soto. Kris Bryant has 0 HR in about 70 PA.

5/3 - Sox @ Twins
QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 3, 2015 -> 01:42 PM) Det and KC are way better than Sox 140 games or not. Team is going nowhere, team on the verge of a 4 game sweep to the division doormat. Why do you watch if you think there is no chance? Do you like to be miserable?

5/3 - Sox @ Twins
QUOTE (fathom @ May 3, 2015 -> 01:40 PM) Abreu Then they should trade him, but I think that claim is ridiculous.

5/3 - Sox @ Twins
QUOTE (Butter Parque @ May 3, 2015 -> 01:41 PM) You're right but this team as constructed has black holes at Catcher and 3B. That wont change. As it is now, they have liabilities at SS and CF. That could change. This team also has liabilities on 3/5ths of the rotation. More than likely, the best they will be able to do is have liabilities at only 2/5th of the rotation. Add in the fact that there is little chance of developing any power within this lineup and I don't see where this team can make the improvements needed to become a consistent winner. Enlighten me if you do. Power will come.

5/3 - Sox @ Twins
QUOTE (Mike F. @ May 3, 2015 -> 01:40 PM) You give the same shtick of excuses every single day. Say what you want, but this team is horrible in just about every way. Nothing else has to be said. All you do is whine and complain. Why watch the game?

5/3 - Sox @ Twins
QUOTE (reiks12 @ May 3, 2015 -> 01:36 PM) Sox players look like they don't even want to be on the field It is nice hyperbole, and you will get a few chronic complainers to agree with you, but just mention one player whio doesn't want to be there?
