QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 26, 2015 -> 08:12 PM) Sorry for actually watching and enjoying other teams and players outside of the White Sox. I guess I should be crucified by the D.A. Witch-Hunting Brigade. Luckily, the Salem Witch trials and the time of the Scarlet Letter passed a long time ago...or did it? You don't enjoy White Sox players. When you talk about WAR, you can mention 25 failed prospects but totally forget the most successful.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 26, 2015 -> 08:10 PM) Because they're our divisional competitor and happen to be well ahead of the White Sox in every single bullpen category. If the White Sox had the bullpen of the Twins or Indians or even the Tigers (outside of Soria), then there would be no need to mention them at all. Just post White Sox bullpen is nails and Caulfield gets upset. Vs. the great KC Royals 11 IP 8 hits 1 earned run 0 walks 15 strikeouts
-
I just wonder why anytime you post positive comments about the White Sox, Caulfield opposes and always seems to mention the Royals. I womder if it will be another 30 years until their next playoff appearance.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 26, 2015 -> 07:44 PM) Another thing, maybe we want to actually get to .500 before we start considering any aspect of our team "elite" maybe. http://espn.go.com/mlb/stats/team/_/stat/pitching/split/128 Maybe when we enter the Top 10 in the majors for bullpen ERA, for example...or top 3-5. http://espn.go.com/mlb/stats/team/_/stat/p...ded/order/false Opposing OPS, 9th. http://espn.go.com/mlb/stats/team/_/stat/p...ded/order/false WHIP, just 17th. Not nails. At least not yet. Once again, if they put up KC's numbers for the next 15-20 games, we can revisit this thread again. Petricka and Rodon are new additions. The bullpen stats are out of whack because of Drabek. Your Royals had a ton of trouble., bit did score a run. The Royals fade has started. My condolences.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 26, 2015 -> 07:33 PM) Since this thread has been made you know the bullpen will blow the next game right? No. This thread is the truth.

QUOTE (kev211 @ Apr 26, 2015 -> 06:58 PM) He's played pretty good defense all series. Especially on ball. I would've had him in there. DRose had a huge block earlier. His D has been a lot better overall, although he did get smoked that last play.

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 26, 2015 -> 07:08 PM) 2003 bullpen was pretty good, that rotation was something awful. Billy Koch was the closer. Not good. An awful trade by KW. They may have won the WS if they kept Foulke.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 26, 2015 -> 07:05 PM) Please, delete this thread. Every time....and I mean every single time, someone says something like this, it backfires. Remember all the accolades in 2003? And I wouldn't be penciling in Jake Petricka as a future All-Star just yet. If the White Sox can go the next 15 or so games and only allow 3 ER from their entire bullpen over 60+ innings, then, and only then...should this thread have life. If they can have an entire series without the bullpen giving up runs to the Detroit line-up (especially at Comerica in a tie game late), then we'll be much more likely to be convinced. Go read kansascity.com and tell us what Hosmer likes to eat for lunch. White Sox rule.

Just thought I'd mention it. Petricka is pretty good, and he is a 7th inning guy. When Rodon settles down, OMG. Good luck AL.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 26, 2015 -> 06:51 PM) from their system? Someone, I think it was rabbit but perhaps not, noted this...not sure what the time frame was, but it was about the idea that Sox minor leaguers eventually produced the highest WAR at the major league level, maybe in 2014 or 2011-2014 or something like that? Trying to figure it out. I'm probably leaving some obvious names off the list. OF Chris Young OF Michael Morse OF Paulo Orlando OF Sweeney/Viciedo 3B/2B Beckham or Marcus Semien SS Alexei Ramirez 2B Micah Johnson or Eduardo Escobar 1B Jose Abreu DH Chris Carter C Flowers/Phegley Escobar/Semien/B. Morel/Lillibridge Buehrle Gio Gonzalez Quintana (pushing it a bit) Hector Santiago Daniel Hudson Addison Reed Sergio Santos Nate Jones Clayton Richard (seems he's out of baseball now?) Lucas Harrell Erik Johnson Andre Rienzo Scott Carroll/Dylan Axelrod Casper Wells/Leury Garcia/Adam Dunn It was pretty much because of Sale and Reed.

QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Apr 26, 2015 -> 11:08 AM) Operative word: "supposedly". I believe that rumor was from way back in season 1 of the "new Comiskey Park". If memory serves me correctly, someone called the Jonathan Brandmeier show and merely said it happened, but obviously with no evidence to back it up. It was quickly debunked and dismissed by the team, and the story pretty much ended at that. It started as a rumor then became a fact. Google Comiskey Park bullet damage

Albers to DL; Carroll Called up, Surkamp DFA, Webb 26th man
Dick Allen replied to flavum's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Mike F. @ Apr 26, 2015 -> 10:03 AM) If Webb comes in, something would have to have gone horribly wrong. If Carroll goes a couple innings in the suspended game and is unavailable for the regular game, unfortunately for him, I think he will get sent down if Webb is in the clubhouse. -

QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 26, 2015 -> 09:55 AM) Daniel Webb is also in the Sox clubhouse. Probably in case they have to use a lot of guys in the suspended game. -
I do know there was an incident where a gun was supposedly fired from the now torn down Robert Tayler Homes and it did a little damage in the upper deck. It occurred on a non game day.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 26, 2015 -> 08:40 AM) 3-4 years ago...not so much since he's become such a defensive liability and would further worsen one of the most subpar defenses in the majors. When hasn't he been a defensive liability?

As usual, could have played these games today. Pretty rain free afternoon downtown. It is cold. Probabky would have had 12,000 Abreu blankets left over.

4/24-26 - The Pale Hose vs. The Team That Inspired Lorde's Angst

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 25, 2015 -> 09:07 AM) The argument is that Kazmir threw 20 balls and 83 strikes that day...that just because it wasnt a FB doesnt mean he didnt intentionally throw it well inside with a clear purpose. Snd you know for a fact Eaton's actions were interpreted that way how exactly? Lets not forget the indisputable fact that Eaton wasnt known as a perfect angel with his veteran DBacks teammates. LMAO. Take your Royal blue colored glasses off for a minute. Who was the guy Eaton got into it with? He got 7 games. If Eaton started it he would have at least received a fine. And as long as you are calling something imdisputable fact, why don't you take a break from kansascity.com and link some of those incidents as proof Adam Eaton is a bad guy and Ventura just an innocent victim. The only source that said Eaton started it was Harold Reynolds. Eaton told people he was yelling at himself. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 25, 2015 -> 09:14 AM) Nobody's debating the Herrera one...but they cant tell the truth unless they want to end up like Sale in the Victor Martinez and Prince Fielder situations. I understand that, but only you Royals fans are buying the innocence garbage. When Nolan Ryan hit Robin and then beat Robin up, Robin got suspended, Ryan did not. You are allowed to defend yourself. These guys getting suspended shows the Royals are not innocent. -
QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 25, 2015 -> 09:08 AM) May 28 could be a possibility. The Sox would have to fly back from Toronto on their way to Houston, and the Royals will be in town to face the Cubs. That is too advantageous to the visitors.

That announcement should keep the rain away.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 25, 2015 -> 08:50 AM) “You go back and look at all this, and we didn’t start any of it,” Yost said. “None of it, with the exception of what happened in Anaheim (Trout incident). And nothing happened. Nobody got beaned. Nobody fought. That was our fault. But everything else, we didn’t start any of it.” In the coming days, players like Ventura, Volquez and Cain could face suspensions from Major League Baseball. Now the club finds itself in a curious place. Manager Ned Yost continues to defend the behavior of his players, despite the ugly optics of these incidents. Yost referenced how Samardzija hit Cain with a pitch on opening day, how the Brett Lawrie of the A’s took out Alcides Escobar with a slide, how Oakland’s Scott Kazmir hit Cain, how the White Sox’s Adam Eaton jawed with Ventura on Thursday. Read more here: http://www.kansascity.com/sports/mlb/kansa...l#storylink=cpy Read more here: http://www.kansascity.com/sports/mlb/kansa...l#storylink=cpy Samardzija hit Cain after a Royal acted like they won the WS running the bases after a homer. Apparently Eaton did yell something when Ventura walked at him and mentioned Fuddruckers. But Eaton was yelling at himself. It is Yost"s job to back his players, but if they really think they are fairly innocent, they are going to get hurt this year. Kazmir hit Cain with a slider. What about Ventura hitting Abreu? Ned was a catcher. He knows he is reaching. -

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Apr 24, 2015 -> 08:56 PM) Time to end the Avi in RF experiment. Avi will start hitting again, but defensively he is getting worse each year and he is pretty young. That is scary.
