Sox acquire Adam Eaton from ARZ, deal Santiago, Jacobs
Dick Allen replied to Baron's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Skaggs and Santiago for Trumbo? I know he makes a lot less money, but look at Trumbo's numbers vs. Adam Dunn's numbers and it's not like Trumbo is a magician with the leather. -

QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 12:57 PM) MLB Network touting an appearance by Kenny Williams. Looks like 10 or 15 minutes way. Damn. I thought rick hahn was in charge. It's probably a repeat of his earlier appearance. -
QUOTE (dayan024 @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 12:41 PM) Bruce Levine @MLBBruceLevine 1m Improving defense and base running number one priority.according to Ventura. Buh bye Alejandro.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 12:29 PM) I'm still trying to figure out why everybody is so anxious to get rid of a 26 year old starting pitcher who is 4 years away from free agency and has a 126 ERA+ in 224 innings. It's been rather obvious the White Sox aren't very high on Santiago as a pitcher moving forward. Their actions speak volumes. Cooper for some reason, isn't a fan. -
I don't think anyone is really saying Cutler isn't as good as McCown, but right now McCown is playing like a Pro Bowl QB. If you really think he can sustain this type of performance, there is no reason to bring back Cutler, even if he is better. I don't know how you can determine that, but if it can be determined by the people closest to the situation, the money would be better spent elsewhere as the offense is plenty explosive enough. One problem though is if you let Cutler walk and McCown gets hurt, can the next guy be as good?

Can someone enlighten me? What is so great about Adam Eaton? -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 10:40 AM) No they don't. If so, explain Theo. Theo does the interviews. Hoyer doesn't. Hahn is in the same boat.

QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 10:38 AM) Kenny is giving Rosenthal a ton of s*** right now....good to see What about?

QUOTE (balfanman @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 10:35 AM) I can understand this, but haven't the GM's of other teams been on there? The other GMs have the authority KW has. Hahn does not. I wish they would let him do his job. I agree there is no need for KW to be there. Make Hahn legit and have him do the interviews.
-
QUOTE (balfanman @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 10:32 AM) Why is Kenny on there and not Rick Hahn? Because as Geddy Lee sings, the more things change, the more they stay the same.

Maybe the learning the offense has some merit, but it is funny McCown can come in right away and hit the ground running. If you had to choose between the 2, there is no question Cutler is better, but if you determine this offense makes a journeyman like McCown this efficient, and his performance isn't a fluke, the question is how much of your cap do you want to commit to Cutler when you have half the roster as free agents after the season.

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 08:44 AM) Because Nieto is 23 in A ball and Perez is 22 and has made it to AAA. Nieto would be completely overmatched against big league pitching, at least Perez might be able to adjust given his experience at different levels. How many picks do the Sox get to make? Do they still have two slots open since Bellisario and Paulino signed after 12/2? Check out the recent history of the rule 5 draft. The Sox will be lucky if they actually draft a guy who sticks. The fact is neither is probably ready to take a roster spot. Maybe Nieto is a guy who the Sox feel could be decent in a couple of years, and more likely a guy his former team would either say keep him if you like or work out a trade.

QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 07:16 PM) I'm starting to get antsy for March. My baby boy will be watching his first sox game on the 31st... At the age of three weeks old. Dope. That is dope.

QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 05:54 PM) No team would add that much dead weight even for sale. Hence why I said" that'll shut most teams up" Considering Sale's contract moving forward and he will average about what a guy like Vargas got for 7 years, I think a team would have no problem taking the one year left on Dunn, but it would cost the Sox prospects, which makes zero sense for the White Sox.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 04:21 PM) Doug Padilla @ESPNChiSox 1m White Sox power meeting in suite included Hahn, KW, Reinsdorf, Buddy Bell, Ventura. Snacks of chips and nuts not as impressive. Buddy is probably still telling them Mitchell will be a star.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 04:10 PM) I've heard every arm is on the market, except Sale. They have signed 2 free agent pitchers and were in on Josh Johnson. It is pretty obvious what they are looking to move.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 02:18 PM) Not. Gonna. Happen. If it does happen, I think most Sox fans, if informed, would be doing cartwheels. Meeting his price is going to be next to impossible.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 02:05 PM) Wow, guy on MLB Network said Sale is a very strong number 2 on his way to a good number 1 starter.. What an idiot John Hart.

If you think the White Sox need to totally rebuild, trading Sale gets it on the fast track. You acquire at least 2 or 3 drafts worth of top talent who have already had minor league seasoning. If you think a re-tool is all that is needed, you keep Sale. If its a waste to have a top end closer on a bad team, isn't it a waste to have Chris Sale pitching on 90 loss teams?
-
QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 10:39 AM) I'm pretty sure the point was the prospects could bust and then your screwed. Sure, but set the team back 5 years?
-
QUOTE (daggins @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 10:35 AM) I'd put it at like 5% chance Sale gets moved. Teams are pretty hesitant, generally, to give up young, very talented guys, and there is simply no need to trade Sale yet. The problem with a Sale trade is other teams want at least a fair deal. The White Sox would want one where they didn't even have to think about it.
-
How would trading one pitcher off a roster of a team that lost 99 games possibly set that team back 5 years? Lets not get carried away. Sale pitches once every 5 days. I wouldn't trade him unless blown away, but all the rebuilders if they did trade him for prospects, would get their wish. The team would still be crappy, but the farm system probably goes to top 10.
-
QUOTE (staxx @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 09:59 AM) If we can get that deal, I'll drive Sale to the airport Does anyone who ever voluteers to drive someone to the airport if they get traded, actually drive them to the airport when it happens?

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 09:38 AM) Why would you want Adrian Gonzalez? He is trying to kill Balta.
