  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 1, 2012 -> 12:30 PM) Yeah, hello... Punch AJ? Brooks gets a lot of s***, and some of it he probably deserves, but that campaign was genius.
  2. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 1, 2012 -> 12:28 PM) Gavin Floyd is now on one of my fantasy teams. I hope that doesn't screw anything up. It looks like he's at the beginning of his annual 6 week role. Its a good time to pick him up. Don't forget to dump him when the time is right.
  3. QUOTE (That funky motion @ Jul 1, 2012 -> 12:23 PM) That pic of Eddie, makes me feel old. Keep in mind Eddie was looking a little bit older than his years. He had the Mickey Rourke facial surgery, put on a little weight, got ahold of Ronnie Woo Woo's dentist, and looks much better these days.
  4. QUOTE (IowanSoxFan @ Jul 1, 2012 -> 11:23 AM) Random thought: Can we PLEASE bring back the "diamond sock" on the road jerseys. Nobody actually likes the change, do they? I've seen a couple people complain about this. It doesn't bother me one way or the other, but why not compromise and put a patch on each sleeve?
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 02:38 PM) Why would Peavy agree to any restructuring? If Sox won't pay the option then he'll go to the highest bidder like all baseball players do. Most likely, although the Sox have to pay him at least $4 million more no matter what. They may be able to work something out assuming he makes it through the season unscathed.
  6. 8 times shut out this year. Mercy. The Sox offense really is all or nothing these days.
  7. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 02:21 PM) Greinke's not perfect, but he'd be the best fit for the Sox, imo because the biggest spending clubs probably will shy away. That said, I don't think the Sox will go on the free agent market to upgrade the SP. Like I said, if the Sox had a deep run in the playoffs with Greinke, I could maybe see them working out a deal. So you think the Sox can get Greinke by giving up a guy with too many holes in his swing who at best develops into a 5-6-7 hitter and is not worth the wait. You're a piece of work Marty.
  8. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 02:27 PM) I just want to clarify here that we should win all games in which our starter surrenders 4 runs. Is that correct? I don't like getting shut out but losing 4-3 or 4-0 is a loss all the same Who is saying that? The Sox have scored 0 for Peavy. Again. He pitched well enough to win. He has been getting zero support. Are you saying he gave up 4 runs so he should lose?
  9. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 02:25 PM) Those other losses, hell yeah it sucked that we didn't score. He didn't pitch that great today, so the run support isn't a big deal. If you would have told him he'd give up four runs today he would have hoped and prayed for an ND He pitched well enough for a victory. If the Sox don't score here, they will have scored 2 runs total his last 4 starts.
  10. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 02:22 PM) It is what it is, but it by no means entitles Peavy to be upset about run support. Quintana giving up a ton of runs yesterday and winning has nothing to do with it, he got lucky. He gets less run support than anyone in the league. He won't complain about it, but he's certainly entitled.
  11. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 02:19 PM) He gave up 4 runs. He has nothing to b**** about If he pitched Thursday he gets a no decision, yesterday a win, today a loss. He's been snakebit this season. They don't score when he pitches.
  12. For Peavy to win any game he was hung with a loss on this year, he would have had to have thrown a shutout. Today appears no different.
  13. I don't know and doubt Flowers would be a plus offensive player if he played every day, but these swing and miss guys seem to have an even bigger problem when they don't play much.
  14. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 01:53 PM) 1.) I compared Viciedo to Nelson Cruz or Carlos Lee. Pretty decent players. 2.) You think Youlilis is washed up. Just stand by it, it's an opportunity for you to be right. 3.) If that was part of the price of getting a top-of-the-rotion starter, why not? 4.) You need to get out amongst the public more often if you are comfortable making that judgement based on message board posts. Turn off your PC, Dick. So you think Viciedo is a decent player? Many will be shocked. A thread started Viciedo is not worth the wait. With this post: I don't believe Viciedo will be worth the wait, too many holes in his swing without much development of patience. At best I see him as a 5-6-7 hitter, not the dynamic 3-hitter we had hoped. I think it'd be a good move to deal him before his value drops further (see Beckham). At best a 5-6-7 hitter. At best, so obviously not there yet. I do think Youkilis is washed up, but his acquisition was well worth the small price paid, and hope I'm wrong. You are miserable. Your main purpose in visiting this board is to get into arguments. You''re such a sourpuss you can't even get anyone to meet you for free beer.
  15. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 01:44 PM) I'm shocked that Adam Dunn struck out. SHOCKED Its for charity.
  16. The Yankees are loving that second deck today.
  17. I wonder how Rowand is doing in the radio booth. I'd tune in but live downtown and the reception is zero.
  18. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 01:26 PM) 100 x 10 = 10K donation 15 x 10 x100=15k
  19. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 11:05 AM) 1.) Saying Viciedo is overrated (particularly on SoxTalk) isn't the same as saying he sucks. 2.) The Sox were never rumored to "give up too much" for Youkilis. Nice hedge on your part. 3.) Where could the Sox find a slugging LF'er? Really difficult to say .... Oh wait, Adam Dunn played LF as recently as 3 weeks ago. 4.) Every post a whine? Not enjoying the Sox in first place? Why do you feel the need to pass that kind of judgement based on postings on a message board? 1) You can't stop saying trade Viciedo. At no time have you mentioned he's a pretty decent looking young player. Nice try. 2) They had been rumored to be giving up Floyd at one point, Thornton, Crain, actually on the day of the deal. Boston wanted Parra and AZ to eat a lot more money than KW actually paid. No hedge on my part at all. 3)Adam Dun in LF full time? LMAO 4)I can read your posts. You are obviously a very unhappy individual.
  20. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 10:38 AM) Where did I write that Viciedo sucks? OTOH, you have gone on record as saying Youkillis is washed up. Maybe you're right. Yes, but they gave up crap to get him and are paying him peanuts. I don't have a problem with no risk moves, especially when your other best option is the ODog. Youkilis could break down today. I was terrified the White Sox were actually going to give up something useful to get him. His back is a question mark, his hand was in ice after his first game with the White Sox. He's sick to his stomach. Chances are Youk isn't going to be the answer. I hope he is, but as I stated before, its very rare another team is paying a player more money to play for his current team, than his current team and that player turns out to be a difference maker. You have said Viciedo is overrated. Slugging LFs are easy to find. Of course when asked to name a few who were easily available, you were uncharacteristically silent. The Sox are in first place. Why don't you enjoy it? Every post is a whine.
  21. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 10:25 AM) Flowers is starting today in place of AJP, it seems odd to me to give someone a day off after having a 2 HR day. I know there has always been a fued between AJ and Jake, but has it gotten to the next level? I don't recall last year AJ not catching for Jake but it seems like this year anytime Jake starts AJ isn't behind the lineup. I may be wrong but this seems to be an issue this year. It could just be a regular day off for AJ but he doesn't get many off. It does seem Robin conveniently gives AJ his days off when Peavy is pitching, but I wouldn't read too much into it. I do think they butt heads, but I really don't think there is the hatred that some assume. It is a day game after a night game and its 95 and humid in NYC. If Jake goes deep into the game and a pinch hitter or runner is needed for Flowers, it won't be any big deal AJ is catching Peavy.
