White Sox claim Daniel Moskos, send to Charlotte
No reason to complain about this move. One thing I'd like to know is how is Cooper going to teach him a cutter if he's in Charlotte?

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 6, 2012 -> 04:50 PM) I deserve credit for changing Dick Allen's Internet persona from the best poster to a sarcastic one. Wow. I'm not being sarcastic. How many playoff appearances have the Marlins made since Ozzie left for Chicago? Zero. Viva Ozzie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I actually admire that you stick to your guns regarding Ozzie despite all the contrary evidence. But even you have to admit, some of your points are pretty silly.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 6, 2012 -> 04:46 PM) I would assume the GM or Ozzie will take the fall for the high paid acquisition flopping. Its obviously the GM. He signed the guy to be the closer. Ozzie does what any good manager does........he gives his closer the ball. If he keeps failing, so what? Heath Bell wasn't Ozzie's idea. The faster they can clear any other decision maker out of the Marlins organization and leave all the tough decisions to Ozzie, the better for them.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 6, 2012 -> 04:36 PM) It's a performance business. Ozzie gives Bell the ball; Bell has to get the save. No excuses. Right. Now if Bell actually did what he was paid to do, that's when you can give Ozzie credit. He can't make everyone an all star, but a pretty good majority. I don't think most people understand Ozzie, when he was a 3rd base coach, was THE driving force in the Marlins' last title run. How many 3rd base coaches can say that? Whatever Ozzie gets paid, it isn't enough.

QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 6, 2012 -> 02:59 PM) Really? If we get rid of CJ, Brewer and Korver we have a good chunk of money to throw at someone who could be a starter for us No. They would still be over the cap.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 6, 2012 -> 04:24 PM) He was not silent. he told Bell that was a f***ing lie when Bell said he felt like nobody had his back. And he looked like him like he was crazy when Bell said that stupid thing at the end rather than stroke the closer's ego. hey this is a performance business. Ozzie told the guy he couldn't get his curve over for a strike and called him on it when he said nobody had his back. MASTERFUL IMO. It was MASTERFUL. Bell has been lights out since. If Loria has half a brain, he'll stay out of Ozzie's way, that's for sure. He also should rip up his contract and double it both in years and amount. Ozzie IS major league baseball. The Sox doing better even after losing Quentin and Buehrle and their closer for virtually nothing and the Malrins doing worse than last year even after adding Reyes, and Buehrle and Bell, be damned, Ozzie makes every team he is around better.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 6, 2012 -> 03:22 PM) So you must have some problems with his kids' twitter posts. I did not care in the least about those. Twitter is a f***ing joke. Take twitter with a grain of salt IMO. Ozzie agrees. They weren't paying him enough to say the free sunglasses he was wearing were great, not to mention other products, so he told those companies what they could do with their pennies. He's Ozzie Guillen, show him the money or get out of the way.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 6, 2012 -> 03:14 PM) You guys ever heard of letting your assistant coaches, uh, coach? The manager is the assembler, the man who creates an atmosphere, who runs the show. You guys don't work at companies where there is some clueless f*** who DOES NOTHING? The highest of the higher ups on site at our company (not the owner, the highest of the everyday work people) does nothing but send out emails all day and sit there like some king honcho. It seems to me all companies in America have such an "organizer." Ozzie lets his assistant coaches coach apparently. He runs the show. If you guys think he's "lazy" I think you need more proof than some article saying he likes to f*** around on the internet and play games. That's all part of his genius. Let the coaches coach, he's got free time to make stupid comments, play video games and more importantly, make some extra cash so Oney doesn't have to get a job and Ozney with his 1st round talent can walk around with some cash in his pocket instead of getting slapped in the face with a 50k check from the White Sox to play baseball.

Aj A clubhouse cancer?
4 months ago, no one would have believed some of these posts. I love AJ as a catcher but he will be 36. I wouldn't go too crazy. First see how the year plays out. He's really working at about $4 million a year right now as last year's salary was partially deferred. I would go maybe $5 million to $5.5 average for 2 years if he finishes strong.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 6, 2012 -> 02:53 PM) It's not fair to evaluate Ozzie based on whether or not the players respond well and perform after dealing with him. Whoever would evaluate a manager based on that obviously doesn't know what they are doing. Ozzie is probably the best IPad dominoes player in the world. That's all you really need to know.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 6, 2012 -> 02:30 PM) You guys don't even have an open mind on the matter. You tell me Ozzie didn't handle that situation PERFECTLY? I will lose respect for you if you actually say Ozzie handled that poorly. You are better than that. It may be the best thing I've ever read. How many people are allowed to listen into (read) the conversatoin between the closer and the manager when the closer is sucking?? At least I have an open mind on KW. There are no absolutes with me. I may not like KW but I give him props when he deserves them. Ozzie handled that PERFECTLY and you should show your baseball knowledge IMO and agree with me on that at least! I agree. Ozzie pushes the correct buttons just about every time.He handled it like no one else could, and Bell just took off from there. He's a genius. If Loria, his son in law and the GM can keep their own egos in check and just let Ozzie be Ozzie, there is no reason to believe the Marlins won't have the biggest collection of Championship trophies in baseball except for the Yankees in the next 10 years. Sox fans really don't know what they are missing right now, what with the winning and the lack of off field controversey. Marlins fans are in for a treat. Ozzie will be a HOFer one day.

Humber DL, Fukudome DFA, Bruney recalled
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 6, 2012 -> 01:12 PM) Charlotte Knights @KnightsBaseball @whitesox Philip Humber to continue his rehab & is scheduled to start tonight for @KnightsBaseball. Gates open at 6:00 PM, 7:15 1st pitch. IMO, a big start. If he gets knocked around again, KW needs to start keeping a close on on starting pitchers. Of course if Danks can get back and Floyd can do anything, the Sox 5 match up favorably with any team in their division.

Aj A clubhouse cancer?
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 6, 2012 -> 01:03 PM) Part of me can't wait until he leaves Chicago, so we can hear some of the stories the beat reporters have been sitting on. I doubt you will hear any if any are out there. Gonzalez is a class act, and isn't afraid of players. If he had something he thought was newsworthy, he'd put it out there. I don't think Gregor would do anything. The only one Cowardly enough, is you know who the former beat writer, and he gets along with AJ. I really don't know how many don't like AJ, I'm guessing Peavy is one, but the notion that everyone hates him is false. Face it, he was part of the "idiots" with Rowand and Crede, and I used to see him from time to time out with Dye on off days.

Aj A clubhouse cancer?
QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 6, 2012 -> 11:43 AM) He will not be a coach. No one can stand the guy and no one will listen to him as a coach. I doubt he'd coach, but not because of that. There are plenty of jerks, if he really is one, coaching and managing today. It has been said that AJP's personality has mellowed since he became a father.

QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 01:45 PM) I cant wait until Tyler Flowers is off this roster. I don't think his swing is built to be a part timer. He'd still probably suck if he was an everyday player, probably a lot, but not as much as he does now.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 01:34 PM) Like what? Wasn't he suspended for PEDs? I think that's why the Mets got rid of him. He looks great so far, but lets see how it goes once he's been around the league.

Run Differential
I don't know if he's lost a step or not, but just catching throws at second base instead of 2 feet in front of it has meant several outs for White Sox pitchers this year instead of another RISP.

2012-2013 NBA thread
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 5, 2012 -> 08:22 AM) The one constant is Rose, Deng, and Noah not being 100% at critical times. This is because we go for best record in the league each year and ride our horses 40+ minutes and they break down. Rose's knee was a fluke. He was hurt all season with various ailments. Noah was fairly healthy and screwed up his ankle or the Bulls probably at least beat Philly. I don't think you can blame Deng's wrist problem on too many minutes. The Bulls do have a roster that is lined with players who spend a lot of time unavailable to play for a good portion of their careers. Rose just this past season and obviously next, Noah, Deng, Rip, Boozer (except for this past season) you can pretty much count on to spend some time on the injured list next season. I think the question is do the Bulls have a roster that is capable of staying healthy all year and remaining so for a playoff run? Next season is a wash away season anyway. No sense the Bulls do something that might prevent them from a big move when Deng comes off and Boozer is sent packing.
