  1. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Apr 28, 2012 -> 04:25 PM) Magic Johnson even defended Thibs. They wanted to send a message to Philadelphia. That, they did. I can understand taking out your starters in football, but the situation in which Rose was injured occurs 20 times a game, if not more. Anyone giving Thibs crap about it is someone who really has a hard time being happy about anything.
  2. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Apr 28, 2012 -> 04:20 PM) I guess they got it from the NBC station in Miami. Figures. I think the Bulls can still do OK with Watson, he was better than Rose in the first half today. I think they could still make the finals but not win if Rose is done, which from how he left the court, seems almost assured.
  3. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Apr 28, 2012 -> 03:21 PM) Well among other things he had to know people were going to be attacking him for leaving starters in especially Rose after the injuries during meaningless minutes. Maybe now he will stop doing it after 2 years of people complaining. That's ridiculous. It was a 9 point game which is nothing in the NBA. Besides, taking him out there and thinking that will make him OK for the rest of the playoffs is beyond laughable, and Rose hasn't been playing much lately. Getting him some extra minutes could be good for his wind. I think he's probably done this year, just because he can put weight on it doesn't mean its totally screwed up, but I don't blame Thibs one bit. It was going to happen sometime soon.
  4. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Apr 28, 2012 -> 04:11 PM) Torn ACL and MCL for Rose I don't know if it is true or not, but I went to the game and took the UC Express back and people were saying that on the bus 5 minutes after the game, so I thought it was probably more rumor than fact at that point.
  5. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 28, 2012 -> 08:39 AM) Adam Dunn. That disaster cost $56 million. Lots of things are "simple" if you are willing to spend a ton of money on it. Once again, another of your claims proves false.
  6. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 28, 2012 -> 08:17 AM) B, can I get some evaluations of the guy like SINCE HE TURNED PRO. Also, please no more from his agent, that's just silly. You still haven't answered the question.....You said its simple to find sluggling LFs. Name some that would be simple to obtain.
  7. I was afraid of this. He was a nice and funny man. RIP.
  8. When Frank Thomas first came up, he pretty much did most his damage the other way. People get excited about young guys with power. There were some on here that thought Josh Fields had 50 HR potential. That was for a season, not a career.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 08:12 AM) So what's the next thread? Dick Allen brought it up in the game thread last night. Alexei Ramirez should be traded because he's PROBABLY older than his official age and by the time we're actually competitive, he will be well past his prime and trending downwards in all aspect of the game...and that maybe his April offensive woes aren't the typical "he'll warm up eventually in the summer months as usual" but the first signs of real decline. First off I just mentioned his average had been crashing and someone mentioned his April norm. I would bet a lot of money he is older than listed and someday his bad April is going to continue into May and June, ..... I never mentioned a trade. Obviously guys are going to slump. Look at Pujols.
  10. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 09:37 PM) It's April. His career OPS in April is under .600. Mid-May is the time to start getting worried. Yes, but someday it will be not because its April, but because he's lost it.
  11. QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 09:35 PM) 17 hits now for Dunn. 49 more to reach last years total. Its hard to believe how pathetic he was last year.
  12. Infield hit. Adam might have his streak snapped tonight.
  13. Dunn looks like he's lost a few pounds since the season started. Maybe he cut down his beer consumption.
  14. Alexei's average is crashing. The one thing you have to worry about with him is there's a pretty good chance he's a bit older than reported.
  15. QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 09:24 PM) Ohman having a couple of good days. An inning of scoreless relief yesterday, and now a couple tonight. Way to go loogie. All that means is bad is coming.
  16. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 08:52 PM) Huh. Almost forgot that today is the reason Mel Kiper Jr. is employed by ESPN and makes more money than most of the guys he talks about ever will. Someone I work with was wondering why Mel doesn't get a job in the NFL. I told him he makes more money doing what he's doing and he'll never be accountable for being wrong. He'd be a fool to stop doing what he's doing.
  17. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 09:20 PM) We will mark your words, Dick You should.
  18. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 09:19 PM) Man I am so sick of watching Gordon Beckham play baseball Give him 2 weeks. You'll change your mind. He's pretty close to figuring some things out.
  19. Viciedo will be silencing his critics soon.
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 08:54 PM) Boston with nine runs off Humber. Man is he rotten tonight. They should have traded him when he had "max" value.
  21. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 05:16 PM) What is this upside that is thrown around on this board. Hawk and a few people on this board think he could be the next Vlad Guerrero I guess, but I've never seen overt-the-top glowing reports on his potential. I always thought Carlos Lee when considering upside
  22. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 05:07 PM) Don't care what one year of OPS says. Slugging LF'ers are simple to find. Name a few that are available
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 03:35 PM) It also means you have destroyed the pen for the next few days as well, as you don't have a long man either. If Robin had to use Stewart for a significant stretch yesterday after 14, someone, probably Stewart, would have been sent down to Charlotte.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 04:42 PM) Really? Because I just checked the stats for all of 2011. There were 7 left fielders in baseball who qualified in PA's and had an >800 OPS. There were...7 second basemen who met that standard. The average OPS league-wide for LF's was .727 and for 2b was .708. And LF's had a needle loaded Ryan Braun who also stood out and helped carry that position. It certainly seems like both are at a premium. Don't cloud Joe/Marty with facts. It makes all his arguments insignificant, just like the White Sox without Ozzie.
  25. 52 ABs and people want to kick him to the curb. He sucks, but he's got a lot of value they say. What? The bottom line is the Sox have $10 million invested in this guy. They aren't going to get rid of him anytime soon unless its for someone they think is much better than him. Not for someone who may be better than him, and teams usually don't do you favors like that. If you judge 23 year olds on 52 ABs, how in the world do you endorse rebuilding projects? You'd be suicidal by the second week of the season.
