Eloy to IL, low grade hamstring strain - retroactive to 4/4
Dick Allen replied to raBBit's topic in Pale Hose Talk
They aren't going to rebuild anytime soon. They might trade TA if Montgomery is mashing, but thats a longshot IMO. The thing is, they are right where they were at after 2000, 2005, 2008. Maybe they have a season where all goes right and its 2005 all over again, but anyone thinking the holy triumvirate of JR, KW, RH were capable of building a team with sustained success, wasn't paying attention the last 23 years. -

There are some positives. This is a mild strain. Burger and Sheets can platoon at DH so they won't play the field, and this probably puts an end to Pedro thinking Eloy in RF occasionally might not be so bad. -

Burger and Sheets should be fine platooning as the DH. And it gives them no reason to put on a glove. When its really going to suck is when Moncada, TA, and Robert get hurt. The back up plan isn't as good. -

He's seems like he's been around forever, but Eloy is still only 26. -

He did run a grounder out last game, and I thought I saw a little twitch by him, but no one said anything so I figured it was nothing. -

And it begins. Thats too bad. Eloy looked like he put a lot of effort into putting himself in a postion to stay healthy, but guys who get hurt all the time tend to keep getting hurt. -
He said he thought he was just missing his spots, but there is a feeling he may have been tipping his pitches.

Ruiz looked great in the WBC. I was hoping the Sox had a nice surprise this year. Not good.

This guy has been like a high school umpire. Strikes are balls, balls are strikes.

Moncada now has just as many doubles this season as he had on July 1st last year.

You have to wonder about Conforto. Andujar formally of the Yankees, really looked like a stud hitter, hurt his shoulder and now sucks. Bellinger hurt his shoulder. Conforto did bounce back from an injury with his other shoulder, but there's a chance he might just really suck now.

For those saying Grifol has "growing pains? using his bullpen, what was he supposed to do? He has to use what he has.

Robert went 113 feet to catch the ball in the 9th.

Totally agree. Just running to 1B has changed dramatically. Moncada had 4 doubles and 3 homers through June last year. He’s almost there after 4 games. Grandal looks so much better, and while defensively he still has issues, he’s one of the few catcher in MLB who has thrown out a base runner. Robert looks like the 2020 version with the glove, and the bat seems to be ready to pop. TA looks great. Andrus concerns me, but I do think hit 2000 is weighing on his ABs. The starters look good. Right now the shakiness is the bullpen. But it’s one series. That can turn around. I’m much happier now than I have been in a year about this team.

Anyone not happy with a split in Houston is just looking to complain.

One thing I do know Robert doesn’t make that play last season.

People take spring training performance way too seriously. Good and bad. The more positions your team has available depending on spring training performance, usually the worse your team is.

You do realize if he hit 1 homer this series he’d be on a pace for 40.
