  1. I don't understand people expecting Colas to perform like anything but a rookie.
  2. I know it's been tough, but this team does play harder than last season. I think things will be better soon.
  3. To be fair Johnny Bench in his prime wouldn't have thrown him out.
  4. I'm hoping he's pressing because the next one is 2000. But the fact was except for last season, he's been Leury Garcia with the bat in recent years.
  5. I thought Gio looked pretty good. When they scored 2 in the first, nothing really hit hard. Sox are being burned by the guys you can expect them to be burned by, Diekman, Kelly, Ruiz and Santos. I think that’s a good thing.
  6. I don't know if this has been mentioned but TA has reached first a ton this series, and I don't think he and Abreu have even looked at each other.
  7. Bummer probably isn’t available back to back nights yet. They just had to roll with Diekman. A Hahn mistake that will keep haunting. Graveman not getting Maldonado was grave as well, and Bregman and Tucker with stellar defense also killed the Sox last night. Oh well. I would have taken 1-1 at this point since the schedule came out.
  8. i don't know about that. I don't think many pitchers like to call their own game. Plus, guys with sharp breaking pitches, usually trust one guy to block them.
  9. When Vaughn dropped the pop up, I thought, here we go, but they hung on. A beautiful way to start the season.
  10. Tony wasn't accurate with the minor leagues. The reason Hawk got the GM job was the crap they had to call up from the minor leagues when someone got hurt. Himes fixed that, but there is no way he would have stuck with LaRussa.
  11. That is true. If Hawk didn't fire Tony, he doesnt get the A's job, which means he doesn't get the Cardinals job, and doesn't ever get to say he is a HOF baseball person, brother. He's just another Ricky Renteria or Tom Trebblehorn. If you think about it, Tony owes a hell of a lot to Hawk for firing him.
  12. Second hiring easy . When they fired LaRussa, they were about to go into a rebuild and he would have been canned eventually anyway. After he got fired in 1986, the team played better for Fregosi.
  13. I guarantee you the Sox would owe Leury Garcia $11 million less today than they do if Tony LaRussa was never hired. His return screwed this team up in so many ways. One of the worst hires of all time IMO.
  14. If he played RF for the Sox last year, he missed the cutoff man. I think everyone did, and when they threw it to him, it was usually dropped or skipped by...one of the more awful seasons of all time, yet somehow they won 81 games. Just shows you how good they could and should be. Hopefully Pedro can clean up a lot of things.
  15. Im not too concerned about hot and cold during spring training. Bill Melton once hit 10 homers in spring training for the Indians in 1977. He hit none during the season. But having Colas debut against this guy would be cruel.
  16. Having a good series in Houston would go a long way in getting the bad taste in our mouths about 2022 to go away. If they lose and don't look good, it will be depressing almost immediately.
  17. Apparently, SeatGeek is the official resale site of MLB now, and season ticketholders using their teams site to re-sell, will be directed there. I think its a downgrade from Stubhub.
  18. I suspect the Phillies won't be the last organization he plays for this season.
  19. Pache coudn't stick with the rebuilding A's. Exactly how could he be expected to help a team trying to win?
  20. He probably has more of JR's ear than a normal marketing guy. He is on the BOD and was a co-founder of JR's Silver Chalise VC company. I think it's done pretty well. But, I don't know how you blame him for RH and KW performance the last couple of seasons.
  21. I think they play better, are a little more healthier, but lack of depth with the starters will hurt. Better than 2022, but 82 or 83 wins not getting 19 each with . KC and Detroit.
  22. The guy has mostly sucked the last 4 or 5 years. He got minor leaguers out in spring training . Who cares?
