WTF are we waiting for ? Call up Viciedo !
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 11, 2011 -> 01:43 AM) I did at one point have someone call me out on the Dayan shirt, saying he wouldn't do anything for the club right now. He was stared at in disbelief. You ran into Rongey?

This organization is in disarray
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 06:52 PM) The Sox SHOULD ... Fire Ozzie tonight and Kenny tonight. Release Rios over the break and eat the contract. Bring up Dayan and have him play third; Morel can come in in late game situations if Dayan can't remember how to play third. Trade Pierre (at the moment you trade him, put Dayan back in left). Send down Beckham if he doesn't hit the first two weeks after the break. Shut down Peavy. These things all should be done IMO. Beckham's hitting .313 his last 10 games. I saw some rips in the gamethread by a few people. I suppose he's supposed to hit .400 with 50 homers or he's a bust.

All-Star Break Prognostication Thread
KW will be found and will give his: "I believe in the talent" speech. Ozzie will come back from Miami or Venezula and will say he thought about quitting, he didn't need the job and that he is rich.

This organization is in disarray
QUOTE (spiderman @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 06:04 PM) In fairness though, we did get to play the Yankees and Red Sox some in the first half this season. In year's past, we would get them over a two week period (along with minny). This season, I believe both teams still have to come here, I'm guessing we're not going there anymore. The Sox have a better record on the road than at home. There's only 70 games left and the post ASB starts out with 9 road games then Det, Bos, and NY for 10 at home. We will know very shortly if there is any life in this team.

White Sox vs. Twins, 1:10 CT, CSN
Fitting ending. Hawk says you have to tip your cap.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 04:07 PM) Was the WP on Santos or AJ? I missed it. It was on Santos, but it bounced back from the wall right to AJ and he missed it.

At least we have Dunn and Rios turning it on in the second half to look forward to.

White Sox vs. Twins, 1:10 CT, CSN
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 04:00 PM) I'll take Hawk's side on this one: 1. Couldn't you say he's taking a shot at the Sox by saying "Gee, with all the injuries to the Twins, it's hard to believe we're 1-6 against them this season?" 2. He can't flat out call the team garbage because he would lose his job. Hawk could very easily get away with ripping the Sox.

White Sox vs. Twins, 1:10 CT, CSN
The OFs taking their sweet time getting to that one.

White Sox vs. Twins, 1:10 CT, CSN
QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 03:56 PM) Hawk really needs to stop with the Twins flattery. You want to know why we're so f***ing bad against them? 1) We are a mediocre team. Period. 2) We hype the Twins up to be perfect. For a large part YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS. Hawk is so spineless. I can't remember the last time he said something outright negative (but truthful) about the Sox. Hawk needs to check the results of Twins games against everyone but the Sox.

fire walker
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 01:04 PM) I think the argument is what young hitter or unproven hitter has come to the White Sox and flourished under Walker? Most aren't going to give Walker credit for Frank, Maggs, Lee, PK, Thome and Dye. Those guys were established long before they hooked up with Walker. I guess you can say CQ? Though he's been maddeningly inconsistent. Anderson? Fields? Getz? Beckham? Swisher? As where with Coop you can obviously point to Loaiza, Contreras, Thornton, Floyd and for the moment Humber. Dye had struggled for a couple of years with injuries. Thome had been hurt. Konerko was hitting like Adam Dunn currently is hitting but making more contact. Aaron Rowand swears by Walker. Pods became a better hitter. Crede was alright and was really starting to flourish in 2006 when his back gave out. Look at his numbers at the end of August that year. Alexei Ramirez, Iguchi. Again its a case where the perception is any success pitchers have is because of Cooper. If they fail they just suck. With Walker, if the fail, its because of Greg Walker. If they do well, it has nothing to do with him.

fire walker
QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 10:35 PM) I don't disagree. However as long as we've had both coaches I think hitting has been overall a MUCH bigger issue than hitting. Besides, numerous "meh" pitchers have come here only to turn themselves into real names. What hitters have done that? I can't think of a single one off-hand. Quentin is about as close as it gets and for the most part that was simply one year. That is a huge misconception. Since 2004 Walker's first full year the White Sox offense based on runs scored in the AL ranked 3rd-2004 9th-2005 3rd-2006 14th-2007 5th-2008 12th-2009 7th-2010 11th-2011 The pitchers ERA were ranked 12th-2004 2nd-2005 10th-2006 12th-2007 6th-2008 2nd-2009 8th-2010 6th-2011 So in the 8 years 4 times the offense was ranked higher than the pitching and 4 times the pitching was ranked higher than the offense. You could blame USCF, but most Sox pitchers have pitched better at home than on the road, and KW spends more money per pitcher than per position player over the years.

Was that the right call?
QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 11:42 AM) You guys probably won't believe this, but Dunn when batting .180 still has a big presence in the lineup to an opposing pitcher. When he comes to the plate pitchers are still focusing in harder to remember scouting reports and not make a mistake to him. Adam Dunn is a big man and a big name and while the numbers might not bear it out, there's something to be said about a big bopping 3/4 hitter that has been one of the best power hitters around for that past 8-10 years. Pitchers remember that, none of them want to be the one to help him bust out of the slump. They all would rather see a hot-hitting AJ or whoever else. Great move, have Ramirez bunt so they can walk Konerko and the big "presence" Adam Dunn about 2-60 against LHP facing one of the better performing LHP's this year. GMAB. If they were so scared, why did they put Konerko on? Not only did he take the bat out of Ramirez's hands, he took it out of Paulie's hands. It was an idiotic move. There is no defense, especially considering he later refused to have Beckham bunt with no out and the winning run on second.

The official "end of Ozzie soon?" thread
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 09:03 AM) even if ozzie was thinking of retiring, i think he would view this as a embarrassing moment. i agree with steve, if thos happened the way cowley told it, ozzie would have exploded on twitter, and so would his son There's also a couple things that no one has mentioned. Cowley tweets his stuff, whether its true or not, Oney hasn't said anything. Makes me think Ozzie isn't too upset about this if it is true. Oney did pop off Flowers was being called up because KW traded for him, thought it should be Lucy or better yet, the Sox should get Ivan Rodriquez.

The official "end of Ozzie soon?" thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 09:49 AM) The 2011 Red Sox and Twins responded without changing managers. The 2011 Twins still have a worse record than the White Sox.

The official "end of Ozzie soon?" thread
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 08:34 AM) There's no way that is true, because Ozzie would already have tweeted and lost his s*** in an interview by now if he knew he was out the door. Who knows, maybe Ozzie threatened or offered or was thinking about quitting as he has threatened before.

Backup Catcher
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 08:25 AM) Has there been an announcement on who's being called up? Is it T-Flow time? That .868 OPS in Charlotte suggests he could be somewhat useful with the bat if called up, but he probably wouldn't play much with AJ hitting well. He was yanked from the game yesterday so its assumed he's coming up. The question will be can he make contact at the major league level? So far the answer appears to be no.
