  1. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 2, 2011 -> 04:12 PM) Karros is right. Being too nice to Byrd here. Either that or they think he'll be bailing or too worried about pitches inside, and won't be able to cover the outside corner.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 2, 2011 -> 04:08 PM) Do you think a no hitter would send the team reeling? Absolutely. Luckily it won't happen today.
  3. Just setting up another DP.
  4. QUOTE (MAX @ Jul 2, 2011 -> 04:04 PM) Have you tried moving the dish or resolving the issue somehow? That seems awfully high. I'm in a muti unit dwelling. They have been out probably 50 times and the same thing happens. Like was stated earlier, the standard def usually is OK, but its hard to watch standard def when you are used to the HD, and as I stated, I can't believe HD quality could be higher than DirecTV's.
  5. QUOTE (FlySox87 @ Jul 2, 2011 -> 04:03 PM) Ohhhhh. You guys were talking about literal rain! I thought the first dude was being metaphorical. Well, that's good news then. I live in El Paso. It rained yesterday for about thirty minutes, and that was the first time I've seen the stuff in four months. That's good. I can't imagine DirecTV customer satisfaction being very high in Seattle.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 2, 2011 -> 03:59 PM) This is almost Walker-like. Its Rudy Jaramillo. Its only the hitting coach's fault when its the White Sox.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 2, 2011 -> 03:58 PM) It'll go out for me during the rain 2, maybe 3 times a year. Has to be really, really bad rain with thick clouds and usually seems like high winds (getting debris in the air and trees moving). Cable would go out once, maybe twice a year when I had cable. I usually have a little bit of stuff on the DVR just for whenever that happens. Mine goes out about 80 percent of the time it rains.
  8. QUOTE (FlySox87 @ Jul 2, 2011 -> 03:49 PM) DirecTV, my place, MONDAY! God, I'm more excited than Anthony Weiner in a sex chatroom. You're not going to happy when it rains. When the weather is nice, DirecTV has the best HD picture, but when it rains, at least at my place, you lose the picture at least half the time.
  9. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 2, 2011 -> 03:47 PM) Do intentional walks count towards WHIP? yes
  10. Thank God for Jaramilloball.
  11. I hate Fox games. Hawk is the only guy I know who works "equidistant" into every telecast. When baseball season ends, I don't hear that word for almost 6 months.
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 2, 2011 -> 02:34 PM) I'm more worried about 4 K suckfest. I don't think Dunn has a prayer against Garza's good slider. He's going to put one on the board today. Guaranteed.
  13. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 2, 2011 -> 01:18 PM) (mis)Adventures in RF today. RF in Wrigley is a tough RF to play.
  14. Did the Sox already clinch the BP Cup? Was that tie goes to the winner of the last game just for the first season? If today is the clincher, I may have to go.
  15. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 2, 2011 -> 01:31 AM) Can I ask what makes Juan Pierre a leadoff hitter at this point? I'm seriously tired of hearing: "who is going to lead off if it's not Pierre?" Do we need to replace his awful obp, 50 percent steal percentage, what the hell are we replacing and why the f*** is he still considered a lead off hitter? This is something I totally agree with, although right now Pierre is on a hot streak. Wait until he goes cold again and its time to make a change.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 2, 2011 -> 02:34 AM) Pierre can bunt but not for a sacrifice. Ramirez and Beckham should never try to bunt again, unless it's on their own for a hit. Morel can do it PRETTY well. Vizquel, obviously. Not sure about Lillibridge...but it could have helped the last 2-3 times he's been up with RISP. Ozzie has been adjusting to this problem by putting runners in motion a lot more often recently to avoid the double play....but we don't exactly have a roster full of contact hitters after Pierre, Vizquel and AJ. I'd feel fairly confident about Morel making contact, too. Believe it or not, the White Sox, even with Adam Dunn, have struck out fewer times than any other team in baseball.
  17. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 10:21 PM) This is my last post on the issue, because its really not worth arguing with someone who doesnt understand that people are entitled to their own opinions. If you like indoor football and championship games being played indoors, that is great. I personally dont, that doesnt mean Im 9, it just means that for many reasons I think that it doesnt make sense to play the entire season 1 way and then the Championship game another. So Im just going to bow out and admit that all football games should be played indoor like arena league, because that is Illinikrush's opinion and any other opinion is that of a 9 year old. Was fun to have a good football conversation while it lasted. I have a question for you. I agree with Illini but can understand why people like the game outdoors, but say they played the game at Soldier Field, and your team, I'm guessing Wisconsin by your name was playing. Would you rather have it be a 60 degree day with perfect conditions, a 12 degree day with wind and some snow, 45 with rain? The only way to guarantee the weather is to play indoors and I don't think football is really too different of a game indoors than out with the conditions the same. Almost all Big Ten teams play on turf now. All you are eliminating is possible rain or snow, wind and cold. The dimensions and playing surface is the same. I think it helps determine the best team, rather than some fluke. Of course I've never been big on watching the games in the snow. I did used to love the games that were muddy, but there aren't many of those anymore.
  18. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 12:47 AM) I don't think ANYONE has a problem with Dunn getting days off. The problem is Cowley is going to argue we permanently bench Dunn and give up on him in favor of Viciedo, when you simply cannot do that. What player would you get rid of to bring up Viciedo? Exactly. Pierre is gone in 3 months either way, he can be sacrificed. Ozzies needs a leadoff hitter? How much have the Sox won with Pierre on the team even when he's playing well? The Sox are 4-1 this year with Pierre out of the line up. I'm quite sure Cowley did get Oney's approval before submitting his piece of trash.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 11:26 PM) Dunn in RF Cook's K rate has a real good chance of improving.
  20. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 12:11 AM) Ultimately leadership has to be internal. The manager can't bench everyone. The leaders of the clubhouse have to set the standard. I hate to bring up 05. It's cliche. It is the basis of what all future Sox team's will be judged by though. Say what you want about Crazy Carl... but I guarantee you somebody would have left with some hurt feelings or a black eye after Lilly's play. The players set the standard for what's acceptable. At some point in Everett's career, he decided that winning trumped everything. He was instrumental in that team's success. Ideally, Omar's that guy. But, leaders are born, not created. I think 99% of Everett's leadership credit is BS. Where was his leadership when a 15 game lead dropped to 1.5? I bet if you asked each member of the 2005 White Sox about Carl Everett's leadership skills, you would get more laughs than actual compliments.
  21. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 12:08 AM) We weren't a good first half team this season. But if guys like Dunn, Rios, Pierre and Beckham can get back up during the second half, we would easily top our first half winning % in the second half. As long as the pitching holds up.
  22. I haven't paid much attention to the Rockies this year, but in the 2 games in this series, they look like the NL version of the 2011 White Sox. Get a win today and get at least 2 at the dump in Lakeview and things will be looking up.
  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 09:27 PM) If Lillibridge would have gotten hit by the ball the other day and made the play last night, we might be .500. Of course, without him earlier in the season....we're 6-8 games under. Where have you gone, Juan Pierre's "burst." Pierre wouldn't be the first guy to lose a step at 32 or 33, also all those steals take a toll.
  24. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 09:25 PM) Sox need to figure out some sort of way to magically score runs that doesnt involve hits. Im thinking swinging at passed balls for dropped 3rd strike. Or maybe just trying for walks and being beaned. Im just not sure that a team of AAA players would be consistently held under 3 runs so often. Its just unbelievable. Giambi is playing first. That could be a start.
