  1. QUOTE (Real @ May 23, 2011 -> 09:02 PM) Why the f*** did we give AJ a 2 year extension, what a joke Who should they have brought in?
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 23, 2011 -> 08:56 PM) Yeah, that was too harsh, but he's costing himself some serious money right now. I doubt it. He still has plenty of time to put it together. 3 of his 6 losses he gave up 3 runs or less. In 2 no decisions he gave up 2 earned runs or less.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ May 23, 2011 -> 08:52 PM) Do you see JR giving that long of a contract to a pitcher? After watching Dunn and Rios perform, I doubt JR is going to give out big money for a lot of years to someone he isn't very familiar with.
  4. QUOTE (oldsox @ May 23, 2011 -> 08:43 PM) Anyone remember why Cincy let Hamilton go? Can't remember the details. The Cubs actually owned Hamilton for a couple of minutes. They selected him in the rule 5 and sold him to Cincinatti.
  5. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 19, 2011 -> 07:38 PM) These crowds have got to have KW nervous. The problem is, unless they get ridiiculously hot they aren't going to get much better and KW and JR know it.
  6. QUOTE (JoshPR @ May 19, 2011 -> 07:33 PM) Man AJ is brutal He's not the hitter he used to be, but the average AL catcher is hitting .225 with a .650 OPS so far this year. Offensive catchers are becoming extinct.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 19, 2011 -> 03:52 PM) Unless the White Sox want to compete. That's the catch-22. If the Sox hang around the race, they're hanging around because Peavy's performing. Dumping that contract means throwing in the towel on this year. Plus he has a NTC. The catch 22 for KW is if the guys play well enough to earn their money, they will win, but if they don't he'll have to try to move them, and it will be tough to move high priced guys who aren't performing.
  8. According to Stone's numbers, AJP is actually average to second.
  9. QUOTE (Real @ May 17, 2011 -> 08:59 PM) anybody else think CQ has looked a little better in RF this year compared to last year? He has, but maybe its because Pierre has been so bad CQ looks better.
  10. Jesse Crain has a toilet seat hairline and an mohawk. That's nice.
  11. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 17, 2011 -> 08:49 PM) For those who care, Viciedo is now 2/3 tonight with a BB. Hitting .322 now. He can't help. Ozzie would have to play him every day. Guys who aren't hitting would have to sit. That is out of the question.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 17, 2011 -> 08:28 PM) Endy Chavez needed 3 rangers of's to get hurt before he got a starting role, and he's still outplaying Pierre. Everyone in baseball is outplaying Pierre.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ May 17, 2011 -> 08:20 PM) Dunn chases ball 4, that's after Alexei swung at a face high pitch. I hope we get shut out if it means Walker's one step closer to being canned. Yeah, Walker has them brainwashed to swing at everything. C'mon.
  14. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 17, 2011 -> 08:09 PM) Hitting coaches have no effect on players whatsoever. They literally get paid to sit around and do nothing. What has Don Cooper done to John Danks?
  15. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ May 16, 2011 -> 09:34 PM) Dick, if things keep going the way they are, meaning with the way Pierre is handling things up here at the big league level, and with Viciedo just tearing it up at AAA, something has to give at some point. Just when is "that point" do you think, in your judgement? I was told by someone yesterday Viciedo was being called up today, so I assumed Pierre would sit for a while. Then I read Ozzie's comments after yesterday's game. Unless KW takes Pierre off the roster, Ozzie is going with Pierre. I feel a KW/Ozzie blow up if Pierre doesn't start playing better soon. Its been 40 games and they are going to be over 10 games back. I've been with the guys preching patience, but its to the point where you have to show you can contribute now or sit down.
  16. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ May 16, 2011 -> 09:30 PM) One gets the impression that Hawk is going out of his way to promote Viciedo on recent telecasts. They have to do something and Viciedo has shown he's one of the better hitters in the organization, the major league club included. Its ridiculous if they make him keep taking batting practice in AAA because they don't want to hurt Juan Pierre's feelings.
  17. Pierre making the routine seem difficult. If the Sox truly are "all in" its time they put a better player in the line up.
  18. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 16, 2011 -> 09:18 PM) Rios under .200 now crips. I'm hoping its his toe, but if not, crips is right when you consider how much and how long they have to pay him.
  19. Its so bad Hawk is getting aroused when the ball comes within 10 feet of going out.
  20. Boring games and cold weather mean lots of empty green seats for JR.
  21. Did Jim Thome ever have a 40 game stretch with the Sox where he was as unproductive as Dunn has been? Dunn needs to start earning his check.
  22. I was told by someone who knows someone that Viciedo was coming up today, and I assumed it was for Teahen, but Viciedo was in Charlotte's line up tonight before it was PPD. Like was mentioned above, you would think if they were going to replace Teahen, they would have had someone in Chicago before the game today, so apparently the Tank is going to be staying in Charlotte.
  23. Viciedo is getting called up tomorrow. I believe Teahen will be DL'd. It will be interesting to see how and if Ozzie uses him.
  24. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 14, 2011 -> 01:11 PM) Now you're comparing the careers of Peña and Dunn, as if they're similar. Peña has been crap for quite some time, but he's been less crappy than Gray. But this year, Gray was noticeably outperforming him. Dunn is a consistent league leader in HR's and OBP. Let's not act like Dunn/Lillibridge and Peña/Gray are even remotely similar circumstances. They are the same. You're basing it on 10 IP.
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 14, 2011 -> 08:43 AM) All though I am shocked he got claimed so quickly. It was the Mariners and he was impressive against them. If Tony Pena was making the minimum or near which is what I assume Gray is making, he'd get claimed.
