  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 9, 2010 -> 09:09 PM) WTF? didn't I explicitly say Deng + Noah? I'm just telling you, like 99 percent of all NBA trade talk, the report with Noah is BS. It specifically said Denver doesn't want Deng. It can't possibly work even if the Bulls were to be willing to give up Noah if Deng wasn't involved.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 3, 2010 -> 07:52 AM) The issue might not be as much the Bulls being unwilling to give up Noah, but instead it might be the Nuggets understanding that they're going to have to extend Noah this year and as such Noah not offering really anything in terms of salary relief. Deng's contract + $10 million+ to extend Noah in exchange for Anthony means they've taken on an additional $5-10 million in salary, and I believe they're in tax territory, so that's nearly $20 million out the door in that deal. The report is BS. Noah is making $3.1 million this year. They have this thing in the NBA called a salary cap. The Bulls don't have cap space for the trade. For the Bulls to get Carmelo, Deng has to go to Denver or be part of a 3 team trade.
  3. QUOTE (Cali @ Sep 9, 2010 -> 05:38 PM) I could easily see Danks getting traded this off-season, and depending on the haul we'd get, I'd be all for it.... Trading Danks makes no sense for a team trying to win.
  4. The Twins have been very shakey in the late innings. They almost blew it again. Fuentes has a back problem and has only pitched the day he reported to the team when he got the save. There is still hope, but a sweep next week is almost becoming necessary. Any more slip ups before that series and the Sox not taking all 3 probably woud be curtains. Hopefully they can breeze today and vs. KC. Fields, Betemit, Betancourt isn't exactly murderer's row at 3-4-5.
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 9, 2010 -> 02:53 AM) Teahen just doesn't have a position. He simply sucks at third. He's bad in right. He's not even good at second. Bad bad acquisition. Again, he'd be OK to play once a week assuming he doesn't cost us that game ever week with his glove. I just think we can't afford to keep him around, especially if Omar retires and we start him at third. Him playing everyday will show up regularly in the won/loss column if he's in the field somewhere. The problem is money if they want to get rid of him, which I suspect they do. They obviously saw something sometime, somewhere, that made them think the extension they gave him was well worth it. They aren't going to pay him to play somewhere else even though it actually might be more cost effective.
  6. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 8, 2010 -> 07:38 PM) this detroit team is really not very good. play some f***ing baseball! Especially without Cabrera.
  7. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 8, 2010 -> 07:36 PM) Kenny needs to do a better job of building a roster. We basically played a man down on offense all year long because he listened to the whims of a man who is pretending we are in the NL. Ozzie proofing the lineup is the key for any executive who is above him. Role players especially lefty marginal players become keys in our lineup. Oddly imagine if we took the money we spent on Manny, added Kotsay and Teahan. We might of had a real DH. Its one thing to trade for Teahen, but to give him an extension......................................oh my.
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 8, 2010 -> 07:32 PM) Andruw Jones=814 OPS Alex Rios=811 OPS Obviously Rios is the better player, but this is one reason that there are other valuable stats to look at, rather than just OPS or SLG. I think if Jones played as often as Rios, his OPS would be a lot lower.
  9. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 8, 2010 -> 07:30 PM) good god alex, lay off the pitches you can't handle He has no chance against Bonderman for some reason.
  10. Wasn't Kelly the guy who dropped a throw to first yesterday? He and Teahen should play catch. That could be comical.
  11. The Twins are down 1-0 and Thome was a scratch with an ab strain.
  12. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 8, 2010 -> 07:22 PM) huh? Its true. LA had a Berry and Barry in their system. KW thought he was getting one, but wound up with the other a 31 year old AAA filler. The other never became anything, so really no harm no foul, but I'm sure KW is a little more careful now if there are similar names in a system.
  13. QUOTE (11and1 @ Sep 8, 2010 -> 07:21 PM) It's not quite over, but did any of them ever cost us a Division title, this late in the season? The Sox may have won in 2003 if they had Foulke instead of Koch.
  14. Tell you the truth, I'd almost yank Danks now. No need running his pitch count up. Let him be fresh next start.
  15. Nice job by Danks backing him off. The warning may keep a White Sox from getting hit and missing time.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 8, 2010 -> 07:14 PM) Buddy Bell made the recommendation based on his time working with Teahen previously. Supposedly, Teahen would be a better hitter when offered more protection in the line-up. Supposedly, Buddy Bell was going to revolutionize our minor league system. Still waiting on that one. Buddy Bell gets slurped more for nothing than anyone in baseball history. He was a good player, but what has he done since? He wasn't a good manager, and all of a sudden he has all the answers. I'll believe it when I see it.
  17. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Sep 8, 2010 -> 07:13 PM) Jones can careless about getting hits. All he cares about is being able to pull the ball to left field, I don't know why these guys don't just come out and tell the f***ing truth He goes through stretches, very short stretches, of willing to go the other way and becomes very effective, but he hits a couple of homers and he's back to his old ways. I still think he's been a pretty good bargain this year.
  18. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Sep 8, 2010 -> 07:10 PM) I love Wimpy but he sucks as a play to play guy, where is Hawk??? His brother in law died.
  19. QUOTE (CWSOX45 @ Sep 8, 2010 -> 07:10 PM) I don't often criticize moves by KW, but what on earth were they thinking on this one? He doesn't pass the eye test at 3B, and the UZR backs that up. Teahen is not a ML 3B. Plain and simple. He's pretty much sucked for years, but KW sold and a lot of people around here bought, that if he stayed at one position, he would hit and field. He really isn't very good at either.
  20. Its time to start hitting the opposition if only to put a thought in the opposing pitcher's head that one of his guys is going to pay if he hits a White Sox. It may make him a little leary pitching inside and miss a bit and the ball may wind up in the stands. 70 White Sox HBP. White Sox pitchers have plunked 26/
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 7, 2010 -> 08:07 PM) Haha, R. Manuel of Boston gave up a homer to the first batter he faced tonight. Worst pitcher I've ever seen in the majors. He's going to have to be pretty bad to reach Scott Ruffcorn status. I don't think Ruffcorn ever had a good inning. I'm not talking outing, I'm talking inning.
  22. QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Sep 7, 2010 -> 08:01 PM) Here's the point. On their current pace of losing about once a week, they're going to win around 100 games. Anyone think the Twins are a 100-win team? No. What goes up . . . will at least level off. We just need to keep winning. Wouldn't you think the Sox should level off as well? I just don't think the Sox can be more than 2 or 3 at the most back after the Minnesota series next week to have a realistic chance. 4 or 5 back would be almost impossible to overcome, especially considering Minnesota's opponents.
  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 7, 2010 -> 08:00 PM) Game, Twins. Unless Liriano or the bullpen has a meltdown. But the Royals have never played well in Minnesota. Actually, they've never played well anywhere since the early 90's. Did you know in 1990 KC had the highest payroll in baseball?
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 7, 2010 -> 07:54 PM) Ugh...2-0 Twins We still have hope in the late innings the Twins seemingly have taken a page out of the Bobby Jenks' book How to Make It Interesting lately.
  25. That's a hit. Crede, Uribe, Vizquel all make that play routinely.
