Maybe their talks with non White Sox people proved to them that their way is the best way. Remember, LaRussa said using results to judge is too easy.
-
David Robertson closing. I bet the Phillies wish they had Joe Kelly. They would have loved Joe Kelly.
-
They wouldn’t have signed Eaton or traded for Pollock. That right their makes Harpers cost go down. They are so afraid of good players. Bryce Harper would have done so much more than help them win games. They wouldn’t be the forgotten team anymore nationally let alone locally. Always think small seems to be their motto,

Bryce Harper would have looked good in the White Sox line up the last couple of years. At least JR gets to die with a bigger bank account.

They will send someone out to the flagship this week, probably Brooks, who will say it was cancelled out of an abundance of caution and Covid. Being the flagship, they will throw him no curveball and it will be accepted and the rest of the prece will go smoothly. Just remember, JR has no problem hosting 20k plus inside to see his other disappointment. They had no problem with crowds gathering in the inside parts (suites, patio, club level, restaurants, etc. the entire 2022 season and the last half of 2021.

Besides being a huge bust in 2022, the other thing this signals is not a lot of popular moves coming between now and the end of January. I doubt a huge sell-off, but Abreu will be gone and probably at least one or two others, and their replacements won't initially have you thinking playoffs.

We do know that they aren't going to be able to choose their coaches. At least not entirely. When is the last time a Sox managerial hire was able to name their entire staff? I'm guessing not since we'll before LaRussas first stint 43 years ago. And besides, would you want a guy who has never managed or hasn't managed in 10 years to pick his staff? I wouldn't.
-
A guy like Ozzie, but not Ozzie, although if they do hire him, as much as it would make me question the front offices collective mental health, it would be an upgrade. Before he became a caricature of himself, and before he was all about getting as much attention as he could, he was a really good manager. Surprised me.
-
At the very least, they could have provided a real reason instead of many factors. The Cubs having one is a bad look for the Sox. If they are afraid of fans questions and comments, they are proving they aren’t worthy of their positions.

The only problem I have with Espada is the love for him is based off of nothing. He is a coach on a good team. We have no idea what his philosophies are. We have no idea what he even does all day. But this is how it goes in all sports. College and pro. The assistant on a good team or in college basketball, the head coach on a Cinderella gets to be the hot ticket. A lot of times, maybe even most, these guys fail. Sometimes they prove to be beyond worthy. For years people wanted Davey Martinez because he sat next to Joe Maddon during games. Now people don’t want Joe Maddon. People want Espada because he sits next to Dusty Baker during games. Dusty has never been praised on this board. Anyone who says they know what this guy is will not be telling you the truth. He is a mystery, but at least he isn’t LaRussa. I think the team needs a vocal guy. A guy that isn’t afraid to confront a player if they aren’t playing correctly. They don’t have to get in his face and try to embarrass him, but the point needs to get through. Enough lackadaisical play.

2022 College Football Season
Dick Allen replied to CentralChamps21's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Im pretty sure Iowa has one of the top 5 worst division 1 offenses this century. -
I get the thought of interviewing Ozzie is just doing him a solid, there is no interest in hiring him. But would it really be a solid? If JR isn't going to pull the trigger with him, who would? JR has recommended him for a couple of jobs. But if he hires someone else, why would anyone even consider his advice?
-
I hope if they hire Ozzie, when they are 35-38 next year, Oney starts taunting Hahn on Twitter. I am with you though. There is no way they hire Ozzie. How can he go from not being considered in 2020 to the right guy for the job? Why wouldn’t they have brought him in as an interim when Tony left? There is zero logic. Hopefully his interview is just a ceremonial type thing.
-
Ozzie thinks exit velo is overrated. They hire him, JR can save money, and get rid of their analytics department.
-
Because they are stupid and shortsighted. 2005 baby. 2006-2011 be damned.
-
No way. If he is not on board, he should quit. He did say if he felt he wasn’t the person for the job….if he keeps getting overridden, then he’s not. It’s just some made up thing where everyone sucks but Hahn. Well, the reality is, Hahn sucks just as much as JR and KW.
-
It could be he wants too much of JRs money in the Sox opinion, . It could be he now has his heart set on getting the Astros job. He’s from Florida, maybe the Marlins job is more appealing. It could be the Sox wanted to negotiate and he said let’s hold up a while, so the Sox got butt hurt. It could be some red flag popped up. Or it could be the whole thing was fake, and he wasn’t going to be the White Sox guy all along. It’s easy to say he is who Hahn wants but Hahn is being overridden, but that’s probably not accurate. I don’t really know. It is interesting how this guy, as Dusty Bakers bench coach, the same Dusty Baker who if you read this board over the years, and based everything on its consensus opinion, would conclude Dusty isn’t a world beater in the dugout, is now head and shoulders above everyone. Just remember, this guy was also once a coach for a bad team. Unless he knows how to draft and develop players, he isn’t going to bring the Astros to the Southside.

How many dissippointing seasons did the Sox have when Ozxie managed them previously? I wonder if that can be a consideration.
-
I don't know why anyone would want to get rid of Katz. He made Giolito a guy where a 5.00 ERA is a disaster. He made Rodon and Cease Cy Yoing types. He made Lopez useful. If a pitcher has talent, there's a decent chance this guy has as good of shot as any to get it out of them.
-
We will know for sure shortly. One of the main insiders will have it if it's true.
-
His wiki page has bought the rumor.
-
Chances of Bochy passing on the White Sox for the Rangers because of state income taxes are slim to none.
-
That doesn't matter too much. They get hit with a tax bill from stares with income tax based on days they managed there. It's pocket change to these guys.
-
As long as we are talking weather, do you know since June 1st, it’s rained more in San Diego than Seattle?
-
Whoever manages the Sox will most likely spend their winters in Phoenix.
