  1. I agree with this. I think we have so much proof, there can be no benefit of doubt. But I think there is zero chance they show him the door. Pretty ridiculous.
  2. There are rumors he has an out in his contract, and a new regime might want a different guy. I’d take him in a heart beat.
  3. Or the 2001 to 2007 White Sox. One year they may get lucky and everything they touch turns to gold. You look at that 2000 team. It was young and stacked, and supposedly had the #1 farm system in baseball. We did get 2005 out of it, but this regime really has no clue how to build a team with sustained winning. And even as great as 2005 was, if a ball doesn't go through Graffinino's legs, and El Duque doesn't perform a miracle, it easily could have been a year like 2000 or 2008 or 1993 or now 2021.
  4. The best thing about this is, Tony is gone, and now you know Cairo isn't the answer. He looked promising, but the way they quit, no way you can give him the job.
  5. Thats the strange thing. He actually remained healthy enough to keep increasing his player option. 50 game availability is coming next season. Way to go Rick.
  6. As I mentioned before, he somehow made the bad Kimbrel trade worse. Amazing incompetence. Hahn is obviously a bright guy, but is there much evidence to suggest any of that intellect includes building a MLB team? Please let him go. Maybe you can bring him back in 30 years if you feel bad about it.
  7. What is next is the question, but a rebuild isn’t going to happen.
  8. I’m making everyone who had a hammy or groin injury take Pilates. I’m kicking Tony to be a full time greeter at the ballpark. Let him roam the parking lot before the game and crash tailgate parties. I’m firing Hahn and opening the wallet for Billy Beane, because even when JR goes cheap, he doesn’t go as cheap as Oakland and Billy will have a decent roster with a little more cash to play with. Let him bring in a manager and coaches, although I think Katz is a keeper. Have to let Jose go. See where Grandal is in spring training. If there is any leg issue, eat the contract. Get a real RF and 2B. You are going to need at least one more starter. Billy would be good at finding one on the cheap. Pray Giolito bounces back. Light a candle for Joe Kelly. Hope Croceht can return and be effective, but don’t count on it. Talk to Diekman about how great retirement would be for him.
  9. According to Fegan, who I think is the best beat writer, if you want to call him that, in town, there is a lot of friction between RH and KW with TLR. It looks like they know they messed up, but for the love of God, how do you give them the opportunity to fix it?
  10. data:image/svg+xml,%3csvg%20xmlns=%27http://www.w3.org/2000/svg%27%20version=%271.1%27%20width=%2716%27%20height=%2713%27/%3e James Fegan · 5h 36m ago STAFF There’s always a difference between what you’ve heard and what’s firm enough to report. But I consulted with Ken on that piece. We’ve both heard about the hitting coaches not seeing eye to eye with TLR on plate approach. The don’t run hard edict was TLR going out on his own and didn’t sit well with others. The 1-2 intentional walks aren’t agreed with by anyone in the org, especially not the pitching coach who thinks count leverage is about the most important things in baseball. Leury basically disappeared out of the lineup once TLR stepped away. The starting catcher has been grousing about playing time all year
  11. His legs will make up for a lot of slow decisions…but his accuracy is so alarmingly bad to me. Hopefully he overcomes it, but we are seeing wHy they don’t throw the ball too much right now. They are rebuilding, but they want to win.
  12. I posted in another thread they can’t possibly make Cairo the manager now. Total surrender. Very unprofessional.
  13. The good news is that they can’t bring LaRussa back, and this homestand probably kills any chance Cairo will get the job. He was probably as close as can be to a lock a week ago, but there is no way now.
  14. For someone who said using results is way too easy, Tony is sure taking his test results as gospel.
  15. You don't lose service time on the IL. The only thing that seems logical if you want to stretch the definition of logical, is the team with multiple championship goals is looking to save money by not having to pay minimum guys to take his or the countless others who had this team play short roster spot. It's been very weird. Even if your system is so bad, someone should be able to come up to pinch run or go into the field if necessary. Maybe even a 3rd catcher just in case. But time after time, the same thing. I think they are trying to save a few bucks. They use Robert to pinch run which running the bases is how he injured his wrist in the first place.
  16. The White Sox can be fixed next year, but they won't be fixed if the same people are doing the fixing.
  17. If Moncada had a reputation of running balls ot, second basement couldn't play him 15 feet on the OF grass because they would at least think they could not throw him out.
  18. I think if there is some accountability from the front office down to the fake tough guy manager, a few of these guys would perform a bit better, and maybe stay a little healthier. But they need to catch the ball better, that will help the pitchers, and go back to hitting homers. That too will help the pitchers. They need some left handed hitting, They have the same issues they had 1 year ago, plus a couple of more, and less money to throw at the problem. So, the current team showed you they cannot make the moves necessary to get it done. It's time to try someone else.
  19. The problem JR and KW have with firing RH is they are probably just as responsible. KW needs to pull a Pax and tell JR, it's time for a change, and not just RH.
  20. You are absolutely correct. The offseason was such a failure. That alone would cause most organizations whose goal is multiple championships to make a change. Although I will say calling some of the acquisitions complimentary role players is giving them way too much credit. Not only did he mess up for 2022, he put them in a bigger bind in 2023. Diekman? Pollock? They needed a left handed hitting RF. They could have bought out Kimbrel for $1 million. Even an platoon lefty complimentary player would have been so much better. They get Pollock, who apparently can't play RF, and remember who this organization has no problem putting in RF, he can't hit RHP either. And both of these idiots will be on the books next year. If he did absolutely nothing, he would have outperformed what he did. He has to go. Larry was spot on. The one thing I really caught was how you know if somehow they pulled this out, we would have gotten a we told you so. I hope they are humbled knowing people taking their order at Potbelly's knew they were way off this year even when they didn't.
  21. Most here were thrilled with all the extensions. Hahn was complimented for getting it done.
  22. They have made so many errors, but the big one was LaRussa. Velasquez and Kelly may be some place else if he wasn't hired, and who knows who else. If they needed a fossil, Buck was the hire. He has a 3 or 4 year shelf life, but his teams play to or above their talent level for at least a couple of seasons. And his player evaluation is much better than Tony's. Forget his managerial skills, his evaluation skills are being used like his stint in AZ never happened. And that was many brain cells ago. Shame on the players, but the big shame was hiring Tony. He brought down the entire organization.
  23. Basically, the guys who get hurt every year, and the Sox now have several, will continue to get hurt. There may be one or two magical years here and there where they avoid it. You also have to figure someone who doesn't always get hurt, will get hurt. The problem is the Sox have too many key guys who are annually injured. Several of those are injured multiple times every year.
