White Sox Mgr Speculation Thread
I'm sure there are some really good coaches working for bad teams and bad managers and xice versa. Even if the Sox plan to hire one of the older more expensive guys, these types are going to be mentioned that the Sox really like if nothing else but to try to lower the price on the main target.

I just don’t know how a manager is going to make Eloy reach his potential offensively, although after he came back it looked like he was well on his way. He’s probably a pretty good coach. The Yankees kept him around a long time, but if you look at the Phillies stats, they don’t have anyone really doing any more than expected. Of course you don’t have many doing way less than expected, so I would think that is a good thing. They have lost their way offensively, so maybe bringing in an “offensive” guy is the route. What they do with the rest of the staff will be important. I don’t know what kind of connections he has and what kind of coaches he could attract. I would definitely keep Katz. I know the Sox love Hassler in the bullpen, and that’s fine. Might be time to change everything else. I really don’t want the old guys, but really I am now an anyone but Tony guy.

Who is buying/renewing tix for 2023?
Sounds like a good plan to me.

Who is buying/renewing tix for 2023?
Again, if that is the reason, you can always wait until September and then commit to a 2024 package and get them. It's probably the biggest reason they were around 2 million this year, and why their attendance was higher in 2006 than 2005.

When he was hired, a lot of people who can't believe the hire now were doing cartwheels. It would help if they had a better OL, and you would be able to see what you really have in Fields. The wide open gimme TD he missed hurt, but I don't know how much of the other bad stuff you can give him a lot of blame when he's basically lucky not to get knocked down every play.

I think most who are not renewing probably still intend to attend some games. It's cheaper on stubhub. They have taken away most of the season ticketholder perks. My invoice is actually less than $1 cheaper. I'll hold out and see what their first moves are. Who knows, they may bring back the Ballpark Pass.

Plus they had to hold their noses and look the other way when thinking about the stink Ozzie left when his time was up as a White Sox player. To think this time would be different is a reach. I wouldn't mind someone giving him a shot, just not the White Sox.

Ozzie seems to have matured a bit, but he walked out with a year on his contract, and then was so bad Loria paid him 3 years not to manage. He's great on the the pre and post. Let him stay there, because who knows what all that attention would do to him. Plus the baggage of Oney. No need for him to return.

You don't even have to buy them on the secondary market. If they are playoff bound, commit to a package in 2024 in September. You will be good to go next October.

Your 2023 Off-Season Plan
Hopefully TA finds his way next season. Then, if Montgomery develops as hoped, you can trade him for more than you'll get for him now. Makes no sense to DFA Grandal. Might as well wait and see what you have in spring training. If his legs look like this year's version, you waive him. I'd hate to trade Moncada now, and for little value, unless you are certain he isn't going to rebound to what he was pre-covid. Even in 2021 he was pretty valuable. And if the Sox really knew about health, Rodon would have been given a QO.

But the reddit insider said JR definitely wouldn't hire him.

How do you know it's PAST? He admitted to doing it as a player, and did it as a manager. Then quit managing where it was reported he sexually assaulted a reporter. He said he cheated on his wife. I believe LaRussa should have been eliminated. I also believe Washington should be eliminated from being a manager. A coach? Different story. But not running things.

The problem I have with Schildt is he seems too much a LaRussa suggestion.

Will "core" players be traded before Spring Training?
The one question you have with Robert is, and it's the same question you probably have with TA, Moncada, Eloy, even Vaughn, basically the entire positon player core, can they ever make it through a season without a significant injury or 2 or 3? A competent manager, change the hitting approach, and all these guys go back to being really good, and healthy, suddenly, you have enough to make up for deficiencies elsewhere, especially in the ALC. But what are the odds?

If the Sox were going to let the new guy pick his entire staff, the current staff would all be gone right now. They are not.

If Tony should never have been the Sox manager because of his DUIs, what about Ron Washington and cocaine. And wasn't he accused of sexual assault as well?
-
White Sox Mgr Speculation Thread
Why would you think he would get to hire his own staff? Tony didn't even get to hire his own staff. Do you really think Tony had any idea who Ethan Katz was before he was approached?

TV is where the money is. If it was Beckham, I bet he would go to radio and DJ would come back to TV.

White Sox Mgr Speculation Thread
When he left the Sox it was a promotion to manager. The tried to bring him back after they fired Lamont after 30 or so games in 1995. Somehow they blamed that horrible start on him, and thought Terry Bevington was the better choice. After the season Leyland was available, but since the Sox s%*# on his friend they had no chance. They kept Bevington which is all you really need to know about what JR thinks managers not named Tony or Jim are worth.
