LaRussa retiring on Monday
As Rick likes to say, there is a guy that checks all the boxes. Sandy Alomar Jr. Knows the Cleveland way. Is part of the White Sox "family". And was 27-19 as an interim manager last season. The guy has come in 2nd for a ton of jobs. I wouldn't mind him on the South Side.

Will "core" players be traded before Spring Training?
I'd trade Gio, but I wouldn't sell low. The guy I would really like to trade because he seems like he's more about style than substance, but is still a guy who could get you something nice in return is TA. If Montgomery was a year more developed and looked like a regular MLB SS, it would be done. But if you want to win in 2023, you better have a SS, and maybe TA will get back to trying to be the best instead of trying to look like the best.

Admitting a Wrong: Kenny Williams vs Rick Hahn
This is KWs 22nd year. His teams have won a playoff series in only 1 of those years. He's part of the problem.
-
Mark Gonzales wonders what is next?...
The other thing is the base was a little overinflated with people who bought packages this year for playoff tickets last year. Those are the type that jump ship a lot faster than those who came through the rebuild. It's put up or shut up time for JR. He's going to have to risk perhaps his biggest financial loss to get through this.

Admitting a Wrong: Kenny Williams vs Rick Hahn
You want a job forever? Get hired by the White Sox at any position, and occasionally mention how JR is the greatest guy to work for. George Costanza could last 40 years.

Admitting a Wrong: Kenny Williams vs Rick Hahn
Is there any other team in baseball who would hire RH as GM? What does he have to sell to a potential employer for that position?

Admitting a Wrong: Kenny Williams vs Rick Hahn
It's still an MLB GM job. Only 30 of those available. There would be plenty of interest, and KW isn't in it much longer.

Admitting a Wrong: Kenny Williams vs Rick Hahn
His wife already retired from NBC news. I think it won't be too long.

Admitting a Wrong: Kenny Williams vs Rick Hahn
While true, even if it doesn't change, its worth a shot, because it isn't working. Maybe someone, and it's been proven it's not Rick Hahn, can get this team, including JR and KW on the right path.

Who is buying/renewing tix for 2023?
still haven't decided. Leaning towards bagging them. I think I can do better on the 3rd party sites, and they have really devalued the season ticket anyways. Perks used to be plentiful, now there are almost none. Besides, if they are good, you can buy a package for 2024 next September and get 2023 playoff tickets.

Not the Sox. f*** them.

Fire Rick Hahn
I agree with this. I think we have so much proof, there can be no benefit of doubt. But I think there is zero chance they show him the door. Pretty ridiculous.

TLR out for the year
There are rumors he has an out in his contract, and a new regime might want a different guy. I’d take him in a heart beat.

Mark Gonzales wonders what is next?...
Or the 2001 to 2007 White Sox. One year they may get lucky and everything they touch turns to gold. You look at that 2000 team. It was young and stacked, and supposedly had the #1 farm system in baseball. We did get 2005 out of it, but this regime really has no clue how to build a team with sustained winning. And even as great as 2005 was, if a ball doesn't go through Graffinino's legs, and El Duque doesn't perform a miracle, it easily could have been a year like 2000 or 2008 or 1993 or now 2021.

TLR out for the year
The best thing about this is, Tony is gone, and now you know Cairo isn't the answer. He looked promising, but the way they quit, no way you can give him the job.
-
Hahn the Dumbass Again
Thats the strange thing. He actually remained healthy enough to keep increasing his player option. 50 game availability is coming next season. Way to go Rick.
-
Hahn the Dumbass Again
As I mentioned before, he somehow made the bad Kimbrel trade worse. Amazing incompetence. Hahn is obviously a bright guy, but is there much evidence to suggest any of that intellect includes building a MLB team? Please let him go. Maybe you can bring him back in 30 years if you feel bad about it.

Mark Gonzales wonders what is next?...
What is next is the question, but a rebuild isn’t going to happen.

Your 2023 Off-Season Plan
I’m making everyone who had a hammy or groin injury take Pilates. I’m kicking Tony to be a full time greeter at the ballpark. Let him roam the parking lot before the game and crash tailgate parties. I’m firing Hahn and opening the wallet for Billy Beane, because even when JR goes cheap, he doesn’t go as cheap as Oakland and Billy will have a decent roster with a little more cash to play with. Let him bring in a manager and coaches, although I think Katz is a keeper. Have to let Jose go. See where Grandal is in spring training. If there is any leg issue, eat the contract. Get a real RF and 2B. You are going to need at least one more starter. Billy would be good at finding one on the cheap. Pray Giolito bounces back. Light a candle for Joe Kelly. Hope Croceht can return and be effective, but don’t count on it. Talk to Diekman about how great retirement would be for him.

This group of players has quit and is not playing hard anymore
According to Fegan, who I think is the best beat writer, if you want to call him that, in town, there is a lot of friction between RH and KW with TLR. It looks like they know they messed up, but for the love of God, how do you give them the opportunity to fix it?

But I consulted with Ken on that piece. We’ve both heard about the hitting coaches not seeing eye to eye with TLR on plate approach. The don’t run hard edict was TLR going out on his own and didn’t sit well with others. The 1-2 intentional walks aren’t agreed with by anyone in the org, especially not the pitching coach who thinks count leverage is about the most important things in baseball. Leury basically disappeared out of the lineup once TLR stepped away. The starting catcher has been grousing about playing time all year

2022-23 NFL Season thread
His legs will make up for a lot of slow decisions…but his accuracy is so alarmingly bad to me. Hopefully he overcomes it, but we are seeing wHy they don’t throw the ball too much right now. They are rebuilding, but they want to win.

I posted in another thread they can’t possibly make Cairo the manager now. Total surrender. Very unprofessional.

9/25 Tigers @ White Sox - The No Game Thread Yet? Gamethread
The good news is that they can’t bring LaRussa back, and this homestand probably kills any chance Cairo will get the job. He was probably as close as can be to a lock a week ago, but there is no way now.
