  1. They are going to have to play better defense. They are going to have to hit more homers. I don't know if things could have gone much worse than they did for them this year, and I don't know if things could have gone much better than they have for Cleveland, yet, here we are, and the Sox still have a shot. Not a big one, but if somehow they sweep them, the pressure will switch to being on Cleveland. Unless JR cuts the payroll drastically and LaRussa comes back, I can't see how the Sox won't be the division favorites next season, unless Hahn does worse this coming offseason than he did the last one.
  2. For all intents and purposes, the season will be over by Thursday. Besides sending Tony home, fixing up the defense a bit, and doing something about the injuries, I hope the team looks at the obvious. When they hit home runs, they usually win. When they hit a bunch of singles, they usually lose, no matter the opponent. Let's get back to hitting them all season long.
  3. If Petras isn't the problem, and since they haven't sat him yet they don't think so, even though they are the lowest scoring Big Ten team in 21 years through 2 games. Then they are admitting Brian is the problem
  4. You can call it ageism, but there really aren't a lot of ways 20 or 30 somethings connect with old school 77 year olds in any workplace.
  5. Rick and Kenny and JR hide. Every day the players and Cairo get asked about this guy. Take the burden off them. Rosenthal is right in so many ways, but because it's obvious, Tony won't go for it.
  6. They are 2 peas in a pod. I read an old article about Pujols the other day and when he was young Tony asked him if he would rather hit a ton of homers or hit .300. He went with HR. Tony told him hit .300, the HR will come. They did for him. But he's a freak.
  7. When the Cubs traded him, Rick Sutcliffe said he was the best Cubs pitching prospect he had ever seen. All time Sox great? Not yet, although this seaon will rank among the best in team history. Hes on his way. I'm so glad Dan Bernstein wasn't able to trade him and more for a couple of months of Joc Pederson last year.
  8. Watching the post-game. It appears Ozzie thinks Kopeech is related to Chet Coppock.
  9. Watch the movie The Cooler. He's William H. Macy.
  10. Larussa being on the park is causing this. He's the cooler.
  11. Dick Allen replied to Bob Sacamano's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm thinking a little bit of both.
  12. Pulling the rug out is a perfect description. He will be back Tuesday. The press release makes the entire situation even more weird. His "doctors " couldn't monitor this from afar and give Chicago docs the tests they want to give him. No have this guy whose heart is on no shape to spend a few hours in the dugout fly to AZ. Now it's OK to fly to Oaland. No s%*#. It was OK to fly before. Also to Chicago. He isn't flying to Chicago to eat deep dish. But will somehow be cleared from afar.
  13. The Phillies were 7 under when they canned Girardi this year. He's had a nice managerial career. They are 21 over with his bench coach. Maybe it's coincidence and they were about to get hot. Maybe it is coincidence and the Sox were about to play better under Tony, but I wouldn't take the chance to find out. Tell Tony to stay in AZ. Kaplan made it seem Tony is coming back on Tuesday. If the Sox aee a game out of first or better, and start losing again on Tuesday, I don't think this franchise would recover from that until everyone you could give 1/1000th percent responsibility was gone.
  14. 12 of the next 16 are against last place teams. The other 4 against Cleveland. This is it.
  15. As long as he is still playing well, put him at 2B when TA comes back. Next season, I hope they learned a lesson and shoot a little higher.
  16. This isn't good. Too much to put on Bummer.
  17. Renteria used to bench guys for loafing to first. Many here complained.
  18. Here's where we see TLR influence on Cairo. If he waits until 1-2 to put him on, we have a problem.
  19. They are all playing for each other.
  20. It is a dereliction of duty Hahn has done nothing to help this offense this season.
  21. I don't mind Sox math. Bring back three prize shelf. These videos are awful.
  22. Game is over. Pollock has ro make it look like he might have a play to try to keep the catcher from scoring from first.
  23. For some reason, Sheets cannot hit on the road. Just brutal. .520 OPS, no home runs . 6 runs. There is no reason to play a 1B in RF for those numbers. His home/road splits make Rockies' seem normal.
  24. Home Runs are good.
  25. Sound like a rerun of a few weeks ago when they beat up on Detroit, had a nice win vs. Houston then a tough loss when too many were focused on it not being a loss but a good loss. The next day it was 21-5, and the losing continued. I'll buy in if they get 2 out of 3 here. But right now they are .500 playing one of the easiest schedules possible. Not just with non contenders, but real easy travel.
