  1. Nice to see you were spared. It's always hard to see the images on the news when these things hit.
  2. When Jeter was doing his good bye tour, the White Sox presented him with a container of GRF dirt. I was laughing my ass off. He had to be thinking WTF? I would bet everything I own he has no idea where that little container is today. He can say landfill, but he doesn't know which one.
  3. The fact of the matter is the White Sox have only the White Sox to blame for their small market status. There are plenty of people, hopefully the next owner, who would have operated the White sox as a large market franchise, and would have been rewarded as their fanbase would have shown up. But they don't show up because the White Sox front office has a history of not showing up. The White Sox idea of "being all in" is signing Adam Dunn.
  4. He's not blocking balls anymore. He's a bad framer. Great arm. Probably calls a decent game, but he's only put up over a 2.0 WAR twice in his career, although 2020 would have been over.. Nice power, but no walks.
  5. Well that is wrong. The first year I looked up they had a top 10 attendance. The problem with using attendance and revenue is it is THEIR FAULT it is what it is. They are playing in the #3 market in the US, and their team is a redheaded stepchild even though it probably was given the easiest path to total domination when they split into 6 divisions and had the rest of the division some of the smallest revenue producing teams in the league.
  6. Eflin was who I hoped the Sox added.
  7. I’m a big Vaughn fan and think he will be much better all around as a 1B. I love Jose, but you don’t want him eating up all that budget space for declining years. One thing I have an issue with concerning Vaughn is if playing the OF caused his late season drop off, that’s on him. First, it’s not that physically demanding to play LF. C’mon man. Second, he knew he was going to be an OF, it was on him to prepare for it.Mentally, coming to the major leagues, playing out of position, is a tough ask, but physically, unless he’s playing catcher, it’s on him.
  8. I totally disagree on Gallo. He was the same when he went to LA, and the shift isn't going to change him much. He's a 3 outcome guy. If he all of a sudden starts sneaking grounders into RF, watch teams move the RF to where the 2B has been playing him in recent years and play with 2 OFs.
  9. Has there been any study done on how projected WAR in November before teams even have their final roster, correlate with actual WAR the following season? Or is there really no reason to even play the games, especially these days when so many get hurt?
  10. I bet in November of 2004 if you were asked you wouldn't have believed in Dustin Hermanson, Bobby Jenks, Cliff Politte, or Neal Cotts. There is reason to believe a couple of these guys are going to suck, especially if they have arm injuries. But with bullpens, you really never know.
  11. Clevinger underwent his TJ a year and a half after Rodon. So, I'm thinking he should be about as back as he can be by the time next season starts. I have no idea where Clevinger will be, but the good news is basically a year and a half ago, Rodon had been non tendered and signed for peanuts. This guy should be farther along opening day than Rodon was opening day 2021. At least physically, that injury should be totally ready.
  12. He might be, but I wouldn't count on a rookie catcher if you are trying to win. Someone will eventually get hurt, and he'll have his opportunity. In fact, Yaz and Seby probably both will be gone by 2024, so I would work Perez in slowly.
  13. Drafting catchers high is boom or bust. Mostly bust. They need to sign a good handler of pitchers and glove guy to be a back up. See where they are in sp;ring. If Yaz is looking a lot better, trade Seby. If Yaz is toast, eat the contract, but sign a back up glove guy before then.
  14. With Jose and Pollock gone, the 2 White Sox who played in the most games in 2022 are gone. Of the others that played at least 100 games, Engel and Harrison are gone. The only 3 players on the White Sox roster that played in 100 MLB games last year are Vaughn, Sheets and Moncada. The new performance guy has a chance to be a hero.
  15. Yes, but some of the places these guys come from don't really care how accurate the documents are. Besides, how are you going to tell how legit a birth certificate is from Cuba, or Venezuela, or the DR? I think it's still the honor system in many ways. Abreu ate a fake passport on his way to sign his White Sox contract.
  16. The Astros have picked their older players probably better than any other team.
  17. We don't. When I was playing Legion, scouts would have you fill out cards with your info. They were telling the older guys to shave a year off their age. I think Contreras finally admitted to being older than listed. There's a decent chance a lot of these guys are.
  18. 19.5 per. Jose made 19.667 in 2022, the only year the White sox will pay more than the Astros will for his age 37-39 seasons.
  19. JR went out of his way to mess with Black Jack during the arb process.. Messed with him after winning a Cy Young. And have they ever nickeled and dimed anyone worse than they did Gio in arb this past season? It's not a coincidence they were the union reps IMO. I don't think he has a problem with all the union reps, just the ones who were working when there were big time lablor issues with lockouts and strikes. They traded Ken Patterson the union rep during the 89-90 trouble in the George Bell deal. Now, it's Ken Pattererson, he would have gone sometime, but even the article I read said Scheuler was scoring points with JR dumping the union rep.
  20. You would think his value is down. Keep him around, get the draft pick. JR can nickel and dime him during arbitration like last year. Did the same with McDowell. But trading him makes no sense. No one is going to give you a package like he was the 2021 Gio. The only way the Sox win is if he is the 2021 Gio or even better. But an extension isn't going to happen.
  21. I think if Pujols would have got himself in the shape Jose did, he would have more homers than Bonds right now. Jose was having problems with his feet when he came to the Sox and took off a lot of weight. Made him age a lot better.
  22. I was hoping NL. This isn't good for the White Sox chances. The Astros and Cubs windows opened at the same time. Will the Astros window ever close?
  23. KW signed jeff Nelson specifically because the Big Hurt had a lot of problems hitting him. He gave up the 2nd homer. IIRC, the first was his first AB.
  24. If anythjing, it tells me the White Sox have to drastically overpay to get a huge question mark to sign.
  25. He gave more money to an injured Joe Kelly per year and twice the term.
