  1. The best he could have done was give his his $1 million buyout and tell him to go scratch. Instead he traded for a guy who couldn't hit righties and couldn't play RF. You almost have to try to be that wrong.
  2. The obnoxious thing was he and Krause couldn't wait for the Jordan era to end. They thought they were so smart, and were jealous the players and Phil were getting all the credit. I think it has since been beat by "the Process" but the 5 years after Jordan were at that point, the worst 5 year cumulative record in NBA history. Without MJ, JR is a total failure.
  3. I don't think people realize what an awful location that would be for a baseball park. Hard to get to. The nearest CTA train is a mile away. If anyone has ever been to a Bears game and decided to take a bus from Roosevelt, the closest station to Soldier Field, it takes longer than walking due to heavy Lake Shore Drive traffic. Its OK for the Bears 10 times a year on Sundays. But 81 games a year, most during the work week, would be a nightmare. The other thing is, the biggest complaint about the Sox current home, is lack of restaurants and bars around it. If the Sox moved to Soldier Field, that situation would be worse.
  4. He seems to be OK now, but this will start before then.
  5. I think they are or at least were counting on a period of sustained winning to then lobby for a stadium. Being a disaster hurts, and I think the sweetheart rents and building billionaires stadiums are a thing of the past. JR and Bill Wirtz did build the United Center mostly public fund free. He can do it again.
  6. Its coming soon. In the White Sox lease, the last couple of years of the lease, the state is not obligated to provide stadium updates that have become standard at other parks. They are now.
  7. 4.0 WAR 3B would be kind of nice. I'm with you. I think there is more there. Hopefully a new staff and a new year get him there.
  8. It's fascinating what it takes to get fired from the White Sox. Larry Himes builds a 94 win team with the lowest payroll in baseball, gets canned. OK, he's known to be miserable and JR doesn't like him, but fired? Really? Gene Lamont was a pretty good manager. Coming off 2 consecutive division titles, the only White Sox manager ever to do this, his GM guts his team and makes him rely on washed up guys like Sabo and Kruk and Dibble and Stieb. He gets canned quickly. Renteria does what he is supposed to do, gets the rebuild into the playoffs, but only has 2 starters. They obviously lose, everyone would have lost, he's canned. RH, LaRussa, the list is long, of White Sox employees maybe not even mediocre at their jobs with basically lifetime security. It is probably the biggest problem with the organization. Everyone plays favorites, but JR takes it way too far.
  9. The guy is older and has pretty much sucked except for last year. Unless he’s the second coming of Rich Hill, I think the Angels are going to be sad soon.
  10. It’s not one and done, and then if you win, staring the next series with your #1 pitcher last in line. Plus it looked like the little layoff did hurt the non WC teams initially.
  11. It will be a lot different with the expanded playoffs and WC teams with less of a disadvantage. Also, with the new schedule, many of these teams won’t be able to beat up on their weak divisions as much. The White Sox schedule will be much tougher in 2023 than in 2022.
  12. I've mentioned it before, I can't be a bigger Liam Hendriks fan both as a player and a person. He's been great as a White Sox, but if you can get something nice for him, now is the time. I worry about his elbow, and how the pitch clock may effect his performance. No one Is really talking about how the pitch clock can really change the guys with the max effort gas. A lot need more than the 15 seconds in recovery time.
  13. If Joc Pederson is now an almost $20 million a year guy, are the Machado and Harper contracts total bargains?
  14. The ironic part is the White Sox, not exactly known as an advanced metrics team have traded for or signed maybe the 3 most controversial players in regards to advanced stat worth in Shark, Yaz and Javier Vasquez. They have all put up WARs some years that would make anyone who watched them scratch their heads.
  15. Of course. But at least hes try trying something different and he has enough pride to say 2022 wasn't OK. I certainly wouldn't bet he is going to be what he was in 2021 except for more games. I would think he will be better than 2022, but the question will be is it better enough. It was pretty shocking to me , and I am a fan of his, how useless he was. But he was pretty valuable the rest of his White Sox career.
  16. Most of the anti Yaz people here are that way because they were big James McCann fans. I bet the Mets would trade McCann for Yaz straight up right now. No way the YZ decline is entirely age, and like you write it may be the injuries are something he can't overcome, but waiving him makes no sense. No one is going to give you anything but another probably bigger headache for him. Play it out, see how his offseason went. Of course the game is much different now, but a lot of people thought in May of 1983, when he was older than Yaz is now, Carlton Fisk was done. He played another decade after dedicating himself to strengthening his body. Yaz is doing that now. We will see what happens.
  17. Clevinger has pitched more than 126 innings in a season once in his career. It would be White Soxy to think he can give you more than that.
  18. This was the thing Pedro was leaking out at his press conference when Rick changed the subject. This is good, or at least better than nothing.
  19. Jenkins out, Harry and Jones healthy scratches.
  20. Back when the White Sox originally signed Jose, the Red Sox were trying to sign him as a 3B.
  21. On the MLBN White Sox offseason preview, Yonder said the key to the White Sox snapping back next year is Abreu coming back. Oh well.
  22. That and JR typically has issues with union reps.
  23. Yay is here one more year. Yes he sucked in 2022; but it makes no sense to waive him now. See what he looks like in the spring. He is working hard right now. I don’t know if Murphy is the answer given the Cost, but the Sox could use a catcher. I say trade Seby if you can. It would be trading high. He hit, does anyone really expect that to continue. I say get a guy like Barnhart who will be pretty cheap, and does everything well but hit and run. He wouldn’t kill you if he had to start 85 times. See where Yaz is at in AZ. If he still has some gas, fine, if not, waive him then.
  24. If you trade for a guy named Outman and all he does is make outs, you deserve what you are going to get,
  25. I don't boo White Sox players, no matter how awful they are, but I booed Navarro. A total bum. He once complained after a game about run support. He gave up 9 runs. Schueler did get redemption though. He traded him for Eldred and Valentin. I can't believe the Brewers fell for it.
