QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 06:33 PM) No, CQ has contributed this year. Oh. So he's good for this year. If he goes 0-4 on opening day, do you start ripping him then?

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 06:32 PM) So you are telling me that you dont want better production from a 1B than .234 .308 .340 .648? Because thats what our healthy 1B has been giving us. I for one, understand that in baseball you want players who can produce at a high level, and our current 1B isnt producing well enough to be an every day player in July/August So you want to move Swisher to first? What are his stats? Konerko will improve.

QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 07:30 PM) He knew he just missed it, thats too bad. shut em down again Floyd I thought sports is a what have you done for me lately sport. Quentin had a chance to make the game tighter, shouldn't you be ripping his ass? Shouldn't his performance in the past not get him any breaks? Can't we all gush at the 10 year anniversary?

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 07:26 PM) Well, then thank God Konerko hits hard outs. You understand that everyone on this board loves Paulie the person and the baseball player in his history with the Sox. But his production as a corner IF'er is a complete embarrassment and is hurting the team we want to win. If you took away the name on his jersey, you would be right along with everyone wanting a better option in that spot. No, because I understand he's been hurt all year and is healthy now and know what he has done during his career, and know he will outperform guys like Wise and Anderson when its all said and done. Just like when everyone said Thome was done. Just like when Jermaine Dye was renamed Jermaine Dead. Hard outs is the next step to hard hits.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 07:20 PM) I agree, I'd rather have those guys than PK. But to start complaining about Fields already is comical. Why? Konerko gets ripped his first game back from the DL. Fields was back 7 games in AAA and was brutal, and he's off to a not so nice start.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 07:20 PM) He drilled it directly at the mound, I saw it differently. Neither one of us can prove where it would have gone since it WAS a dp. Whatever, it was hit hard and if didn't hit a very unlucky place, its a single to center. Ripping him for it would be like ripping a guy for lining a ball to the SS and having a runner doubled up.

Konerko hit the ball pretty sharply that unfortunately glanced off the pitcher right to Polancofor a DP. If it doesn't hit Robertson, its a single up the middle. Give me a break.

That's unfortunate.

QUOTE (Wanne @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 06:06 PM) Wow..... I honestly think Juan should have started tonight instead of just throwing Fields into the fire. I like Uribe and am not a Fields fan, but if you are going to call Fields up you have to play him. The exception could have been tonight considering Uribe's success against Robertson during his career.

Crede to DL, Fields Called Up, Loaiza Released

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 03:13 PM) So if Fields goes 0-4 with for K's, will this board implode on itself? Fields is Ron Kittle Jr. IMO. I don't think he'll provide much, but maybe he'll get hotl

Crede to DL, Fields Called Up, Loaiza Released
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 02:04 PM) Ouch. He has whiffed at least once in each of the seven games he's played since returning.

QUOTE (Wanne @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 02:55 PM) Could somebody save me the time of looking it up and let me know how Josh has been doing since he came back from the DL. I'm a lazy bastard.... 6-25 .240 AVG. 0 HR 1 RBI 10 Ks

Sox should trade Josh Fields
QUOTE (shipps @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 08:31 AM) But hasnt Jose said he DOES NOT WANT TO BE IN THE PEN?And we all know how sensitive he is when he doesnt have everything going his way. BS. This is a guy who defected from his country possibly never to see his family again. This "he's a pussy" crap needs to stop. He's a proud tough man. His marriage broke up. That could affect a lot of people. He plays with injuries and gets in trouble if he doesn't disclose pain. Mark Prior was called a pussy because he disclosed pain. He was upset Pablo left, but so was most of the team. He was fine when El Duque was traded.

Sox should trade Josh Fields
People forget Contreras had an ERA of 3.24 on 6/15. Perhaps the time off will calm his elbow down and he can find that form.

Trade Winds Catch All
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 12:24 AM) oh, and can we please 86 the term "under the radar"? I've grown so goddamn sick and tired of that word over the past 5 years, and every time I hear it, I just want to shatter a beer bottle over my head. Would you put it on youtube?

Something's brewing...
Birmingham is fairly close to Atlanta. The Barons were playing the Braves AA affiliate. I really doubt they were scouting Poreda. They probably came to see their own players.

Sox Interested in Duchscherer
It appears the White Sox want Cabrera gone. If they accomplish this while acquiring a lead off hitter fine. But if its just for Lowe, who I like, I think the team will really struggle. It will even get slower. What will be interesting reading is Cowley's write-up the day OC is gone.

Sox Interested in Duchscherer
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 06:11 PM) Ok so according to Cowley (he's on the Score right now) Duchscherer is NOT a priority for the Sox right now, he's plan C or D, the only reason the Sox would deal for Duch is if 1 or 2 other deals fall through. Does that mean they will break into when he's talking to announce the deal?

Sox Interested in Duchscherer
QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 07:02 PM) If that's the case, why are we giving them arguably our best position player prospect and arguably our best pitching prospect? I'm talking about his salary. Fields may be the Sox best position player prospect, but I can tell you this, if KW traded a guy having Jason D's season for a 25 year old in AAA hitting .248, not known for his glove work, striking out more than once per 3 ABs, this board would be livid. Obviously a career can be salvaged, but he's certainly not can't miss. But I also agree trading for this guy is dangerous. I don't think I'd give up Fields and Poreda for him.

Sox Interested in Duchscherer
QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 05:53 PM) Oakland has Duchscherer slotted for saturday. Im sure if KW brings him over it would be either tonight or tommorow if its going to happen at all. Not necessarily. Teams are always looking for pitchers. He's cheap and has been on fire this year. Beane may wait until a few minutes before the deadline to see if anyone is ridiculously desperate.

Uribe Not Going to Boston
If the plan was to trade OC for Lowe and have Cora play everyday, they might as well DL Crede, move Ramirez to third and call up Oney Guillen. That would be ridiculous. Give the Red Sox the better player and pay them the difference in salaries?

Sox Interested in Duchscherer
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 06:43 PM) Anyone know how many games in a row Josh has played? 7. He's got a nice 7 game strikeout streak going. 6-25 .240 AVG 0 HR 1 rbi 10k's. Jimbo's Drinker would be booing the s*** out of him in Charlotte.

Doc Halladay
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 04:48 PM) I dunno, they really did spend their best shot in LaPorta going for CC. I read some scout's take that LaPorta was only the 3rd best prospect on his team in the Brewers system.

Doc Halladay
QUOTE (hawksox13 @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 04:16 PM) I'd have to think a deal like Fields, Poreda, Broadway, and Floyd would get the job done. And I'd personally be all over that deal. To lock up a true ace like Halladay for three years is priceless. I think a rotation of Halladay, Buehrle, Vazquez, Danks, and Contreras would be pretty tough. Contreras is the obvious weakness here, but he's going to be just impossible to get rid of. Not a chance in hell.
