  1. Any good posters in the gamethread tonight?
  2. The Sox better find a way to at least split these 6 on this trip, or the playoffs are a pipedream.
  3. Didn't take long for 2 things we get nearly everyday. Hawk b****ing about the umpire and Pods looking at strike 3.
  4. The West coast trip looms large. As long as the Sox don't piss their pants out there, they have a shot. I still cling more to the wild card. As bad as Detroit has been, they still have 6or 7 left with KC, a team they have manhandled. I hope the Sox can get on a roll here. History suggests that you don't want to have to win 2 or 3 that final series in Minnesota.
  5. QUOTE(AbeFroman @ Sep 9, 2006 -> 12:36 PM) I liked Blackjack, but I actually though Robin Ventura was the best last year. During the Boy Wonder's playing days, his Manny's Menswear commercials were priceless.
  6. If Jenks says he's healthy, he's got the ninth. I do know the gun at USCF was clocking his fastball at 97. I won't comment on its accuracy. I think the Sox are in a postion now where its not alright to stick with a guy too long. They must win. If Jenks says he's fine and the Sox are leading by a run in the 9th tonight, I would expect to see him again. But you better have someone ready just in case. Everyone has to be on a very short leash for the rest of the season. You don't want to go to Minnesota the last series of the season having to win 2.
  7. Unless the Sox host a playoff game to get into the playoffs, 3 million in attendance cannot happen. They are about 420,000 short right now with 10 games to go.
  8. I hope no one thinks there's a realistic chance the Sox sign Zito. The White Sox don't give pitchers more than 3 years. Someone will give Zito at least 4 and if the Yankees and Mets are involved, it may go to 5 or even 6.
  9. I wouldn't get rid of Buerhle. I think I would remove him from the rotation for the rest of this year though. His back may be why he's leaving everything up and extremely hittable. Garcia, Vazquez even Contreras I would rid myself of, although it would have to take a lot more to get Contreras. I just don't see the Count being all that effective for the duration of his contract. There are more than a few people pretty close to the situation who swear the Count is older than Duque. I think the Sox make a run at Pierre as mentioned above. Even Levine mentioned he heard Pierre would be a White Sox target this offseason. Ozzie loves him. Personally, I have no problem with Uribe. I wish he would be more consistent and hit for a higher average. Unless you're replacing him with a superstar, I would keep him at SS. I would also see what kind of market there is for Iguchi. He's a good player, there's just something about him that I don't really like. I'd like to get a sparkplug type guy at 2B. Someone who will have a filthy uniform every game. Please KW, don't ignore the bullpen this offseason. He picked up some pieces at the end of spring training and a couple during the season, but it would be nice to have a solid bullpen from the get go.
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 09:58 PM) No one excels in a 7 run game like David Riske. Frank Thomas would give him a run for his money.
  11. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 09:48 PM) And that's all Ozzie's fault. Do you honestly think Buehrle would have given up those runs if jerry manuel was still the manager?? No way, he would have given up a lot more. Ozzie being the manager probably saved him 4 or 5 runs.
  12. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 09:48 PM) All of the indians hits were duck snorts and lucky hits. The homers were due to a cyclovortex devilwinds that blow from time to time when our pitching happens to throw. The umps are screwing us because of jealousy of the best manager in the game, our hitting guru is just one adustment away from having this team go on a legendary run of unpresidented offense, and Cooper is like the dog whisperer and will chant into the arms and no hitters are a coming. We are going to win at least 20 in a row its coming. Now am I a good poster now. You're coming around. A few more and the rest of the good posters can safely return to the gamethreads.
  13. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 09:45 PM) LOL You are killing me. I want to be a good poster.
  14. QUOTE(whitesox1976 @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 09:44 PM) Losing again to the teams we should be beating. Ozzie has been having a different lineup all year. I can see resting players but the extent he goes to is crazy. Just wait until the playoffs start, the White Sox will be so well rested, while the opposition will be exhausted.
  15. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 09:38 PM) Ozzie's fault No its not. Its only when the team does well when Ozzie must be given all the credit. If anyone wants to be considered a good poster, this is something they must learn. I'm doing my best to learn it. The Indians just hit some good pitches tonight, and got lucky with a couple of balls not hit well. The Sox hit into some tough luck.
  16. Buerhle was as bad as ever tonight.
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 09:31 PM) Careful, you never know who is cherry-picking your posts to then make a definitive statement. If you're lucky, you'll get an LOL! I'd also want Buerhle on the mound any day instead of Johan Santana. I'm starting to think I may be too good a poster to post on gamethreads.
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 09:29 PM) I'm eagerly looking forward to next week. It should be fascinating baseball. Hopefully, the good posters will come into the game threads, and the fair-weather fans will stay out. I came to the conclusion that Pods definitely is better than Grady Sizemore. I am now a good poster.
  19. QUOTE(GOD @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 09:28 PM) Why is Sweeney pinch hitting with Crede and AJP on the bench? Probably because the game is over. I think Crede has back issues and AJ needs a breather.
  20. QUOTE(GOD @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 09:25 PM) 2 out rally a comin!!!! imposter.
  21. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 09:25 PM) BTW...my quick calculations show we'll face Bonser, Santana, and Liriano in the final 3 games of the season if everything holds true to what we've heard. If Buerhle's pitching, I hope nobody is messing with the lights on the scoreboard.
  22. If Sandy had AJP's reputation, he would have been out of baseball 3 or 4 years ago.
  23. I never left a game on a beautiful night after 6 innings before in my life.
  24. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 05:44 PM) That's not good. The news gets better though, as Hafner's expected back after missing the past few games. Mackowiak in LF against a lefty? That makes no sense. We might as well put Ozuna in LF, and Cintron at 3B. Nice to see Ozzie can't even keep his decisions straight, as he said Sweeney would be playing tonight. This is an awful lineup we have tonight. Did I hear correctly that Ozzie said Sweeney reminded him of himself? If he did, I saw Ozzie play a lot and I don't see it. How can a slap hitting, slick fielding, no patience hitter be compared to Ryan Sweeney?
  25. Ozuna, 3B; Iguchi, 2B; Dye, RF; Thome, DH; PK, 1B; Mack, LF; Uribe, SS; BA, CF; Alomar, C. Buehrle on the mound.
