  1. Ozzie says he trusts his players. He said he talked to Garcia and is going to have Cooper talk to Garcia. If he talked to him and said he was hurt or tired, why would Cooper have to talk to him? Seems goofy to me. Freddy is supposed to be a big game pitcher, and now he may be opting out of a start at the most critical part of this season? Maybe there's room on Marte's plane for him. I think this team is in freefall, even Ozzie's buddies are starting to bail.
  2. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 03:46 PM) Almost everyone who came talking about trades wanted either BMac or Jenks. Would you have given up either of them? You know this how?
  3. QUOTE(Wanne @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 03:42 PM) How the hell can you blame Ozzie for Carl being a complete dips*** on the bases and taking us out of a possible few more runs. 3 OUTS ON THE BASES EARLY ON! I'm tellin ya...I don't give a s*** if Ozzie doesn't thing goin off would help....but it time...you've got nothing to lose. Well then how can you give Ozzie credit when the team wins?
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 03:38 PM) It's not? These guys have thrown so many pitches all year because of Ozzie's long hook, who knows if they would have had more left in the tank for the stretch run. While Ozzie has gone out of his way to rest a lot of guys like Iguchi, he's been using his starting pitchers an awful lot in regards to number of pitches. However, all the blame for this should not be on Ozzie. This is a full organizational collapse. BTW, we're 1-6 since the players b****ed about attendance. You're right. KW needs to get some blame here as well. This team has been average at best the last 2 1/2 months this season. He did nothing but bring in Geoff Blum to improve the talent base. Players moved and players were available who could have helped this team. KW listened too much to Ozzie and too much to others in the organization who preached the chemistry BS. For the love of God, the White Sox aren't going to get as many fortunate bounces and breaks as they got the first 3 months of the season, probably for a long time. They are going to have to raise the talent level of their team if they want to be anything but average in the coming seasons.
  5. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 03:32 PM) I'll overreact for ya. If we miss the post season, the future of the franchise is in trouble. You don't really believe THIS Sox team will repeat next year do you? You thought there couldn't be a bigger choke than the Cubs a few years ago? You think people don't come to the park now?....and we've been in 1st all year long!! You think we play second fiddle to the Cubs now? You think we get no love from the local, not to mention the national media now? Stock up on booze and painkillers, it's gonna be a wild two and half weeks. I agree with you 100%. If they don't make the playoffs, it will set this franchise back a few years.
  6. If they don't make the playoffs, there is no way he should be brought back. Same with KW. That said, there is no way either will canned this offseason, even if the Sox don't play in the playoffs.
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 03:10 PM) Pods is so overrated, it's not even funny. Oh well, keep up hope. The season's not over. You can say that again. A case can be made that his dissapointing year last year was more productive than this one. He is one of the least productive .290 hitters you will ever see. As soon as he gets to the point where he can't steal at least 30 bases a season, and judging by the last couple of months that time isn't far off, he will be selling insurance. He's signed through next season, so he's got another year to show somebody he's worth a roster spot, but I'm with you, I would love for some team to think they have to have him and give KW a call.
  8. When the collapse becomes complete and the season is over, watch how Ozzie deflects any of the blame from himself or his coaching staff.
  9. QUOTE(bulokis @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 02:16 PM) Everett will make sure we do that. This team does not have any urgency to play better. I cant wait for the Cleveland series to happen at least after then we will know we are done. Everett has been part of the problem. Hasn't hit much, has mad numerous baserunning gaffes.
  10. QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 01:01 PM) It's more of a light dampening than a soaking. Just so dust doesn't fly up. Go out to LF in about the seventh inning sometime. You can still see the water on it. Its pretty soaked to begin with. I thought it was ironic that Oakland puts no water on their infield before the games there, and they never are running.
  11. Going through the thread and talking about field conditions, does anyone know why Roger Bossard soaks the infield before the games at USCF? I would think with the White Sox wanting to run they would keep it a little drier.
  12. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 09:20 PM) Is this the same Royals team that lost 18 or 19 in a row awhile back? They certainly didn't play like it tonight. They lost 19 in a row right after taking 2 of 3 from the Sox. This was a terrible loss. Tomorrow is a must win. This whole season is starting to unravel. Odds are still with the Sox, but losing a game like this can have some serious repercussions. 5 game lead.
  13. Pods is hitless with the bases loaded this year with 1 RBI on a walk. A flyball to LF on a 2-1 count should not happen.
  14. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 08:24 PM) All right Joe, I can live with a walk. C'Mon Scottie P...let's put this game away. Sizemore would look good standing at the plate in a White Sox uniform right now. C'mon Pods, ducks on the pond.
  15. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 08:16 PM) LOL. You're calling the AL Manager of the year a terrible manager. The statement is funny in and of itself. I need say nothing. Do you think Jerry Manuel was a good manager? How about Tony Pena? Larry Bowa? Hal Lanier? Don Zimmer? Jimy Williams? Dusty Baker was manager of the year 3 times. Most of these guys get canned a couple of years after they win the award. I don't think they just get stupid. Its the one award where they get a lot more credit than they deserve.
  16. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 08:12 PM) coming and facing 2 batters, both lefties, and getting only 1 out is not good in my book. Sorry. Every pitcher in the major leagues gives up a hit every now and then. You are the guy who thinks ERA is the end all. What about his ERA tonight? 0.00.
  17. If Cotts is going to be your #1 lefty out of the bullpen, might it not be a good idea to leave him in for more than 1 batter every now and then. Considering Sweeney is hitting over .500 lifetime against Viz, this move is questionable at best.
  18. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 08:07 PM) He's still the AL Manager of the Year. So was Jerry Manuel in 2000. He's been gone 2 seasons and Hawk still can't let him be. He ripped on him again last night.
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 07:59 PM) I would take Carlos Lee over Podsednik on defense. I never thought I would say such a thing. The White Sox actually considered putting Pods in CF and moving Rowand to LF when they made the trade. Rowand really has picked it up defensively the last couple of months, his throwing is still erratic, but even when he wasn't at his best earlier in the season, he is so much better of a fielder than Pods, it makes me wonder about White Sox scouting.
  20. They should leave Garcia in to give up 15 runs tonight. BS effort tonight.
  21. At least DJ is sort of slamming that effort by Pods. Hawk has no way to defend it, so he is quiet.
  22. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 07:45 PM) Garcia's on the verge of letting the Royals right back into this game. Get the sac fly here, get the next guy out, and put it in the hands of our bullpen. This performance is absolutely unacceptable from Garcia tonight. 9 runs scored and KC isn't put away yet is pretty sad.
  23. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 07:36 PM) Well, according to Rooney/Farmer, that one was a gift since he should have been out on that throw to first. He certainly looked out. Its nice to be on the right side of a blown call for a change.
