  1. I think something may be wrong with Marte. When they showed him warming up in the bullpen, he kept shaking his arm. Hopefully, its nothing but trying to get loose.
  2. The curse of DJ strikes again. DJ mentioned this guy had an average move and White Sox baserunners would have no problems with him.
  3. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 6, 2005 -> 08:15 PM) Anyone else watching the game on CSN+? Is it just my TV, or when they show the linescores on the bottom, can you not see the second team? I had that problem with my old TV, but I got a bigger one with a flat screen, and now there is room to burn with the scores.
  4. QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ May 6, 2005 -> 07:41 PM) Nothing but complaints and he gets out of the inning. Hernandez is one gritty SOB. And it didn't look to me like he was losing it. He might not be losing it, but you are dealing with a 40 something pitcher who had to miss his last few starts last season with a "tired" shoulder, and a guy who hasn't made a heck of a lot of starts the past 5 or 6 seasons. You also have a bullpen that probably needs some work right now. Ozzie is going to need El Duque in August and September. It makes no sense burning him out now.
  5. No wonder Konerko isn't hitting. He's using Borchard's bat. There's a big #25 on the bottom of it.
  6. Geddy doesn't seem to be there. Maybe he'll show up tomorrow.
  7. QUOTE(JimH @ May 6, 2005 -> 04:30 PM) No. Hawkins makes a ton of $$$, not to mention he is a surly individual. No sense upsetting the chemistry. None of this will happen anyway. I wouldn't either. Shingo will be fine. He's only pitched 7 or 8 innings this year, and people are freaking out over him. I think your point about Hawkins personality is excellent. The other thing is Shingo is so unique, it is such a different look seeing him after Marte or Politte or Hermanson. If they made the other move, the styles would be very similar.
  8. Let me ask this. If you were the GM for the White Sox would you trade Shingo for Hawkins and make Hawkins a set up man and Hermanson the closer?
  9. Will be attending all 6 of the White Sox double sweep.
  10. If I were guessing, I think the Sox are very high on Ozuna, and if anything would acquire Graffinin (that's how much of his name fits on the board by the fan deck) to take the place of Harris.
  11. I always look forward to the Sox trip to Toronto. Mr. Geddy Lee is usually sitting behind home for at least one of the games.
  12. I said before the season Dusty wouldn't last the season, and I'm sticking to it.
  13. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ May 2, 2005 -> 05:24 PM) Horrible and mean thought (not wishing injury on Wood), but the inevitable question with all his problems: who wants in on a Tommy John pool for him? He already had the TJ surgery on his elbow, I think in 1999. This problem is in the shoulder, so it wouldn't be TJ surgery. Although if he pitches with it, it may cause him to alter his poor mechanics even more and cause him to blow out the elbow again. They call it a muscle strain now. I wonder what they will call it a month from now.
  14. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ May 2, 2005 -> 05:02 PM) Clement sucks. Very overrated. Always pitched well enough to lose, was on the wrong side of thirty and was simply awful in the pennant push last year when he got benched I agree with you. He may be 3-0 now, but just wait. This guy wasn't even in the Cubs rotation at the end of the year. He is definitely not going to be worth the money the Red Sox are paying him for the length of his contract.
  15. Does anyone know the lag time between testing positive and actually getting suspended? I was reading something a couple of weeks ago that claimed a few big names were about to go down. It probably was just rumors, but there does seem to be a delay.
  16. White had no intention of going out there, and thank God for that. Garland might have been killed.
  17. Didn't he attempt a comeback a couple of years ago in Spring Training, but quit again? No thanks on this guy. He hasn't played in the major leagues or anything close in years, and seems like his heart isn't into it.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Apr 30, 2005 -> 03:43 PM) That means nothing. As far as everyone was concerened last night, Gload was available to PH. You can't fault people for wanting Gload up in that situation when you find out THE DAY AFTER that he "wasn't available." So Gload has been unavailable for days, Ozuna could only pinch run. Uribe was not ready. Why wasn't someone called up last night? They played 3 short after an off day. That is absolutely crazy.
  19. I read where his contract actually expires Monday, and that it appears he will stay put.
  20. So Frank has essentially the same procedure done to his ankle Ordonez had done to his knee, which has been called "radical". And he has it performed by the same doctor who hooked Ordonez up with the doctor in Austria. Interesting. Very interesting.
  21. 14 LOB is not the way this team was supposed to be playing. A couple more DP's. Leadoff men on 8 times, yet only score 2 runs. What happened to moving runners over?
  22. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 29, 2005 -> 10:10 PM) Pauly's gonna pop up to guillen. Close
  23. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 29, 2005 -> 05:09 PM) The Sox are the complete opposite of the Cubs when it comes to injury reports. We overexagerate, not under. The Sox are a cautious organization. Respectfully disagree. Magglio was day to day last year Danny Wright had nothing wrong with him, turns out he had shoulder and elbow problems Frank was supposed to miss 2 or 3 games initially. Even after Frank's fracture was found KW mentioned returning the beginning of September.. Looks like he'll be at least 9 or 10 months off. Starting last season, the injuries have been a lot more severe than the Sox have been letting on for the most part.
  24. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 08:50 AM) If we are being technical, the rule saids nothing about pitch speed. The only thing specified is that they try to get out of the way. Technically substituting one body part for another isn't getting out of the way. Also the rule doesn't make any distinctions between trying to get hit, and just not trying to get out of the way. The only thing that is specified is this. There is nothing in there about trying to get hit. Technically, it shouldn't make a differece in the umps mind. Technically Crede did not get out of the way of the pitch, so technically he didn't deserve the base. But Everett didn't make any effort to get out of the way either, he only tried to get hit in a different place. And that in a nutshell is why the rule that was enforced against Crede was ignorant. If you want to make that call, and use the rule to justify it, I would be willing to bet that call should be made on at least 50% of all HBPs, if the umps followed this rule to the letter of the law. Your natural reaction to a pitch thrown in the direction the ball was thrown at Everett is to turn your back. It is the natural reaction to trying to get out of the way. The reason I mentioned pitch speed is that there was a lot more time for Crede to react with the slow curveball than there was to Everett and a 95 mph fastball. If that was a fastball that hit Crede yesterday, even if he dipped into it, I would be willing to bet it wouldn't have been called the way it was. You are told in Little League that you have to attempt to get out of the way of a pitch to be awarded first base. That is why I don't understand why Crede was so upset. He knows he didn't try to get out of the way, It is rarely called, and in the spirit of the rule I would totally agree that a lot of HBP should be called balls.
