  1. I agree. This move has less than a 5% chance of working out. Although he is probably a better option than most of the Sox minor league starters. There is a reason he is available on a minor league contract right now. AL + Guaranteed Rate Field vs. pitching with pitchers in the line up in SF, is a big change. He used to be great.
  2. Ervin Santana must have said no.
  3. I think pinning that on the coaching is a stretch. Players are different, just like in anything else. Some parents have kids who are uber successful, and other kids who are dangers to society. Are they bad parents or good parents. Teachers have bad and good students in every class. Are they bad teachers or good teachers? The Sox have developed good defensive players. The problem is, they usually don't bring those types in. They have to be developed, and you see the success stories. You don't pay attention to the players who remain bad with the glove. People whined about Marcus Semien getting better defensively. That took a while, but the same guys teaching him in the White Sox system told Yolmer, who was pretty good with the glove. Moncada was pretty bad with the glove with the White Sox at first and at Boston. He's pretty good now. Maybe I missed them, but I never have seen kudos fo White Sox coaching for that. I seem to remember the disaster being predicted when it came out the Sox were moving him to 3B.
  4. Not much difference in the sample size you say makes Collins "quite poor" and McCann's which doesn't count because it's a positive.
  5. So, if it improves, it doesn't count. It isn't true.. While you love to live om the White Sox do everything wrong platform, a guy like Narvaez was acquired from the minor league rule 5 from Tampa. Tampa must suck too, correct? They didn't teach him how to catch.
  6. James McCann was coached by the same guys as Collins and he went from bad framer to good with the team. I don't think it's a reflection of the Sox. It's the player. Some can do it, some can't. Some want to, some don't. They said Collins worked very hard on his defense. Maybe he just can't be a good defender.
  7. Probably nothing, but any team claiming him will have the same problem the Sox currently have in that he is out of options. I think the team will not put too much stock in spring training ABs, especially since they acquired 2 OF last week, and either try to trade him or get him through waivers. The one caveat being if you keep him a month, roster size shrinks and maybe the odds he is claimed. But it does appear they have moved on.
  8. Why? He was caught red handed.
  9. He used to flash some power, now he flashes other things.
  10. He would still be out of options. It could scare teams away from claiming him. But circumventing the rules to stash guys in AAA would certainly result in a grievance.
  11. Supposedly he has been running and hitting on back Fields for a few days.
  12. Frank Thomas and Paulie Konerko also say hello.
  13. It bothered him last season, he did some rehab and rest an entire offseaon, and it's already back. If it isn't anything that requires surgery, there is no reason to think this isn't going to be an issue all seaon.
  14. I am thinking Oakland thinks less of White Sox prospects than even the people who rank them near the bottom. Bassitt or this one withe the prospect capital going back is a no brainer. So it's either that or the Sox are tapped out budget wise.
  15. I mentioned this a couple of years ago. The Sox and DBacks used to do a lot of deals when they shared in Tucson.
  16. How come you aren't bitching about Lance Lynn? He's older than Kimbrel.
  17. His last 20 gamezwith the Sox his wrc+ was 171. Total cherry picking, but he was coming along pretty nicely.
  18. Should be, but remember they would have had $15 million to play with. It's not a bad return especially since the clock was ticking.
  19. So the Dodgers were offering Bellinger?
  20. So within 4 days after Tony LaRussa said people who think the Sox need to go outside the organization for an OF are not White Sox fans, the Sox made 2 trades for OFs. You can't make this shit up.
  21. Another OF? Rick Hahn is clearly not a White Sox fan.
  22. If he can't hold up as a reliever, how could he possibly hold up as a starter?
  23. He was hurt in 2020 after throwing 7 innings. This was inevitable IMO. Making him a starter was always a pipedream , but he can still be very valuable in the bullpen if he can stay healthy.
