I was watching MLB Network yesterday and Dan O'Dowd was talking about spring training. It's not only all the people who plan trips around it, it's the municipalities that built these teams these complexes. They expect revenue. It's really the only sport that could piss people off by shortening the pre-season.

Is there really any reason to be even slightly optimistic after Manfred's talk? Of course he is going to say it is a great deal, so much owner concession, etc. I just hope there is something there that keeps them talking. On the other hand, there was no reason to ever believe this deal wasn't going to come down to the last second if missing games was going to be avoided once the lockout occurred. But I just think we are going to be dismayed tomorrow when we get the players' response.

Fathoming Bauer not securing a job anywhere?

You do get a bit of a pass if you attempt to murder someone and aren't successful vs. succeeding. If you have 2 DUIs, either you are the most unlucky person in the world or you have driven when you shouldn't have many times. It is hard to believe, but DUI wasn't that big of a deal until the last 20 or 30 years. I know someone who had DUIs on consecutive days in the 80s. He was out in AZ for spring break. He got a plane ride home, his friends drove back in his car. -
Of course it isn’t true. People pick the wrong stock all the time. Some highly paid experts recs haven’t matched the overall market and you have to pay them. What exactly is the huge risk owning a baseball team? Who ever went belly up? There is always a couple of billion waiting for you when you can’t handle the pressure anymore.

Theis probably hates deadline day.

Caruso, Ball, Vuc, Lavine and DeRozan have played 95 minutes together.

I know Harden is great....but there is something about him to me that makes me think he is a tad overrated. Of course Simmons wasn't playing, but i'm not sure they are a ton better than they were. I really like the trade for Brooklyn. Harden was going to leave and/or start causing problems. Simmons is a nice match since he doesn't have to score, and Curry has been really good. Plus some first rounders. I get if you ae a Sixers fan being excited about it, but they only play with one ball.

So your better off playing the stock market than owning a baseball team. How dumb does Manfred think we are?
-
The reason Manfred is using this is because it was in some article a month or two ago. They didn't bother to check the math. In today's world accuracy doesn't matter.

Universal DH coming to baseball apparently

This was no surprise. Every team is behind the 8 ball anyway. -

Yes and before she was married to Finley she was married to David Cover(band)dale. -
Every game lost is overall lost revenue or they wouldn't schedule them. Cold weather bad teams have a big problem drawing in April and much of Ma, but a lot of teams do not, and not playing the games means no TV revenue.

The Sox fired their DJ after he played some Whitesnake songs for Chuck Finley. -

If the threads are still available, you will see what I thought about Brett Myers. It was disgusting he was on the team. I still watched, still went to games, but wouldn't anymore. I know the players are not all angels, but I tend to draw the line at wife beaters and child abusers. As far as Bauer, I guess it's possible he is totally innocent and was set up, but....There have been others that claimed he was a rough sex guy, and in the USA, Trevor Bauer and his wealth have a big advantage in the legal system. -

I know all players have their faults, but if the White Sox ever wanted to look the other way on this guy, they will lose me until he is off the roster, and who knows, I may find something more interesting in the meantime. -
Bet that the opening kickoff will be returned. 18 of the last 20 were even though most kicks aren’t anymore. Apparently they use a brand new ball for the opening kickoff and take it out of the game and send it to the HoF immediately. It’s hard so it’s hard to kick.

No surprise. The Cubs and Sinclair are trying to do the same with Marquee. Manfred opposes.
-
His salary precluded the Bulls from even trying.

DeRozan was the first NBA player to score 35 + at home on back to back nights and lose both games since MJ in 1988.

Yeah, I thought it was 1. Mike Glennon was his QB. I don't think there are many guys who are currently available that would have done better than him in TB. With the Illini, sure, but college coaching is all about recruiting. Lovie wasn't up for that. These college coaches have to wine and dine 16,17 and 18 year olds. Lovie was too set as a pro coach to give it the exta effort there. He got out recruited. That's why NU kick his ass.
-
It means nothing. Marty Walsh is a democratic politician and former labor union official. Do you really think the owners would care what he thinks?
-
One season in Tampa, and he shouldn't have been a college coach. He didn't recruit.
-
He took a team QB'd by Rex Grossman to the Super Bowl. If he had the right OC and offensive coaches, I think he would be fine.

Seems to me we don't have any of those things even as the owners take has grown and grown. Lets face it, both parties want as much of our money as possible, and the only "reward" we really get is hearing from time to time how much they both "appreciate" us. Like the old Seinfeld scene with the rental car, they know how to say they appreciate us, they just don't know how to show they appreciate us, which, if you think about it, is the most important part of the appreciation. Being a baseball fan is like having a dead end job.
