  1. I do think analytics has made things far more uniform with the teams, and that tends to get boring.
  2. These RSNs who actually pay baseball teams, hope like crazy some games are cancelled. They lose money every year, yet the people they pay can't seem to make ends meet, yet still fly private jets. Weird.
  3. That said, there is a reason why these businesses keep appreciating at incredible rates, and it isn't because they bleed cash.
  4. It is pretty funny none of these teams that lose cash every year ever want to show their books to players. When I lived in a high rise, they would always take pictures of condos that hadn't been updated to fight property tax increases. If they are losing money, why don't they show anyone?
  5. When Samson was with the Marlins, they were hoarding their revenue sharing checks. Their payroll was so low, I remember reading an article that stated they could lock their gates and not let anyone in and still turn a profit. Samson has signed off on tax returns stating they lost money. He isn't going to say anything different now.
  6. For tax purposes, these guys get to reduce their income each year for 15 years after buying a team by 1/15th the purchase price of the team. So if you buy a team for $2 billion, you get to reduce your income over $133 million each year for 15 years.
  7. It has to be because there are not a ton of teams that will spend. 12 teams last year had a payroll under $100 million. The average team payroll thanks to the Dodgers was $132 million. Do NFL teams average over $70 million under the cap?
  8. The owners just want a CBA that saves them from themselves. If the higher revenue teams really wanted more competition, they would divide their money up more equally. And lower revenue teams can print money with the little revenue sharing they get, crying poor, and not trying to win.
  9. It's urgency compared to December and January. This is coming down to the deadline for a full season and probably beyond that. I am sure the owners believe they can still get expanded playoffs in 2022 without playing 162. They will give in a bit somewhere else to get it.
  10. Why would you think either side is going to come up with something anywhere near their best offer until there are a couple of seconds left on the clock?
  11. No it can't. To think every team loses money in April because the White Sox and rest of the low revenue ALCentral don't draw well in April is shortlisted. Many teams draw pretty well in April, not to mention their local TV contracts that won't pay teams for games not played. If they were going to miss games, I will give you they would chose April, but if all those games were money losers, the season would start later.
  12. Its just like college. Pay no attention all semester, then the night before the final realize you better start looking at this shit.
  13. I understand all that, but I just don't get how do you actually drop a spot in the last 2 weeks when you have played like he's played those 2 weeks, doing something no one has ever done in the NBA, and the team is #1 in the East.
  14. It would be the best 60 game stretch he’s had in 7 years,
  15. So in the ESPN expert NBA MVP poll, the Bulls have won 5 straight, back to #1 in the East. DDR has gone on an unprecedented in NBA history streak, and somehow he has dropped from 6th to 7th .
  16. Very different circumstance, and if you remember, in 2012 Paulie was hitting around .400 when he messed up his wrist, something the team characterized as no big deal. When he came back, he was never the same. There wasn't the #3 overall pick waiting to take his place, and Paulie played for $2.5 million. Abreu and Dunn were around. Paulie was clearly a back up.
  17. I wouldn't trade for Moustakas unless the Reds were eating most of his deal, but it wouldn't surprise me if either Vaughn or Sheets or both show they are ready to play in 2022 that it will be Abreu's last year with the team. I know JR loves him, but he loves Robin Ventura and Mark Buehrle and Frank Thomas, and he let them walk. When it's time, it's time.
  18. Yeah but these guys don’t have to go to the terminal wait for ther flight, check in, carry their bags, and security for them is a breeze. Playing for Toronto is probably a bigger pain in the ass as you probably have to go through customs on every trip.
  19. They spent $13 million on Yonder Alonso and Jon Jay. It wouldn't cost them half of that to throw at their minor leagues and get better, cheaper solutions.
  20. The threat of jail is pretty good motivation. He's been given so many chances in baseball. He hasn't been a good pitcher since 2015. I guess admitting snorting coke and taking oxy in the clubhouse and dugout, and providing drugs for his teammates will finally be end of his chances.
  21. Sox promos are out. They are giving away Central Division Champs pennants on March 31. Does anyone want to bet?
  22. Don't make him be the point guard. Just let him shoot and shoot and shoot, and he goes from being below average to pretty valuable. It's so nice having a coach who knows what he is doing.
  23. Phil Rogers used to rank them how Dave Wilder gave them to him. True story.
  24. But again these guys don't get charged because their accusers don't want to press charges and you do get a story about what happened. If they wanted to press charges, they ulimately would at least be charged. Was Bauer even arrested? His accuser didn't not refuse to press charges. And any suspension would be like Ozunas who was on admin leave like Bauer was last year, and it counted as time served.
