I am not too concerned with his throwing. It should get better when he is more comfortable and gets more protection. I am worried he is a guy who could be injured a lot. He goes down awkwardly a lot. Eventually, he is going to pay for it. He also fumbles a ton. He needs to clean that up a bit, but I think all things considered, he looks pretty good. There is definitely some hope. Hopefully they will bring someone in who can help him.

Since he took over as Chairman 11 seasons ago the Bears have had 1 winning season and 0 playoff wins. George needs to letsomone else have a shot. He makes his late brother look like a football genius.

Nagy is obviously getting fired, but the Bears are 46-63 under Ryan Pace with 2 coaching hires. Why is it even a question he gets to hire a third? Deactivate his key card and his computer password immediately.

If this goes right near the beginning of spring training, the middle class is going to be squeezed big time with signing frenzies usually geared toward big names and cheap signings. If I am a player, I would want this finished with ample time to get players signed before spring training begins.

The Astros farm is currently ranked right with the Sox. So their window must be closed. I just looked at a 2017 farm ranking list. The Orioles were one spot higher than the Blue Jay's. Go figure. All it takes is one or two guys breaking out and the farm is in good shape. The Sox don't have a lot of holes. One thing that would help is if they could develop some reliable relievers. Everyone frets how Cleveland develops pitchers. They haven't had a 1st round pitcher make the majors since the 2000s.

Yes, but you can't play that game anymore. I will give you there is no reason the Sox didn't spend their international allotment especially during a rebuild. But the bonus pools were music to JRs ears, and it isn't as easy building that way anymore. And the other thing is that team has won once. And it was under a huge cloud . There is no guaranteed way. I am not holding water for JR. 41 seasons and has only won a playoff series in 1 of those 41.

If every team had their first round pick from 2016-2020 graduate, would they still be one of the worst? I personally really don’t care where their farm system is ranked, just as long as the team in Chicago wins games.
-
No, it just points out MLB isn't the NBA or NFL or even NHL. There is rarely instant gratification after drafting someone. And speaking of BS, you say the Sox don't know how to draft with one hand, then make excuses why 1 overall #1 between 2016-20 made the majors in 2021, yet without a #1 overall, every Sox 1st rounder between 2016-20 made the majors covid and all. Pick a lane.
-
The Astros also drafted Appel and Aiken. As I pointed out there is only 1 number one pick overall who has played in the major leagues since 2016, and that was Mize, who will probably be really good one day, but his current performance wouldn't lead a team that is close to the playoffs.
-
Of course. And if JRs goal is to break even like he has stated hundreds of times, there is a lot of money he needs to spend. Franchises aren't worth billions if they can barely turn a profit if they are lucky, like most owners want you to believe.

I think tanking for draft picks is overrated. The Sox rebuild is 5 years old, the picks in which they tanked to get, Collins, Burger, Madrigal, Vaughn, and Crochet haven't up to this point contributed much to winning. If and when they eventually do, that's great, but you aren't going to quickly rebuild relying on 1st round picks.Only 1 first pick in the draft since 2016 had played in the major leagues through the 2021 season. The MLB draft is getting better, but it's still the biggest crapshoot of all sports drafts.

I didn't know they dropped it to 24 back in the 80s, but 25th man is a minimum salary guy and the minimum salary in 1989 was $68k. Shows how ridiculous that was. Next time an ownership will be forced to sell because they did a crappy job managing their baseball finances will be the first. A couple have had to sell because of issues outside MLB business.

2022 Hall of Fame ballot - Ortiz in; Bonds/Clemens NOT
Dick Allen replied to flavum's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Dick Allen had the same OPS+ as Frank Yhomas. Frank was deservedly a first ballot guy. Dick Allen hasn't played in over 40 years and is dead. It's a joke he isn't in. I hate how death seems to increase chances. Ron Santo drove me nuts but if you're going to vote for them when they are dead, vote for them when they are alive. Let them have that moment. I hope Dick and Minnie get in today although it should have been years ago. I also hope another ex-White Sox, Jim Kaat gets in today. He's going in someday, do it while he is here. -
You have $30m to complete the roster...
Dick Allen replied to South Side Hit Men's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The problem is the players are negotiating for themselves and future players and owners are just negotiating for themselves, and the players will run out of money faster than the owners will. Ideally you would think they would negotiate something that benefits all, but that obviously won't happen. Players will eventually cave with some slight face saving adjustments they will say we're critical. -
I am pretty sure this poster is NSC.

The new definition of millionaire is someone who makes at least $1 million a year. With the old standard , you really need to be a multi-millionaire to actually retire at retirement age, or live in a tent and like cat food.
-
Cano had to stop playing winter ball because of a bad back.
-
If you just use common sense, you will understand NSC is a fake insider. The White Sox are as secretive as any organization. Why would someone give some random guy, be it their neighbor or brother or friend, all the information to put on twitter? No one would risk their job for that. Some guys get random stuff. One here, one there, or some general information like something is very close...NSC tries to act like he is in the room with RH, KW and JR. It's beyond nonsense.
-
Except for Taylor who went back to his team, every big signing was by a team that didn't make the playoffs. The unio s biggest complaint was the amount of teams not trying to win. It looks like this week's flurry was aimed at that.
-
The Burnes trade didn't happen, plus he threw out several more names. He also said in his tweet it was Burnes/Gonzalez. then he said the or was Trevor Cahill. He or maybe you are a fake insider. If his "sources" know the Phillies are clearly in the lead for Kimbrel, how doesn't he know Graveman is about to sign?
-
Read Jimmy's tweets and posts here. He might be NSC biggest source. When NSC is accurate, Jimmy beats him out every time.
-
Honestly, these guys like notCishek who acts like he has RH,KW and JR phones all bugged, has all of these tidbits, but when they actually sign someone, like Graveman, nothing, and if Leury signed, it would be after the lockout. Yet people still want to see what he tweets. It amazes me.
