  1. It's funny, Conforto doesn't have very good advanced defensive metrics, yet you would think he is a possible savior.
  2. There is always going to be a label on him, and probably deservedly so, but if the texts his side released aren’t fake, the woman at least faked she was into what he was doing, which to me, gives him a career reprieve. If he plays again, he will be heckled. There will probably be protests and demonstrations. His teammates will probably not want to go near him. It will be a tough situation for all, but I agree with you, some team will take the chance. He is too good of a pitcher for everyone to ignore the rest.
  3. How much positive press did they get out of it? How much have the Sox gained? This isn't theoretical. It happened. Seems pretty risky offering someone $125 million and banking on his wife wanting to live in Philadelphia. To think the Sox didn't want Wheeler in a bad way is pretty crazy. In the end, all that matters is if they signed him or didn't sign him. No one except maybe JR's lackeys care about the effort.
  4. I don't see what they would have gained with that. Trying is for school, and Little League. In the real world, people look at results.
  5. I'm sure they wanted him, and they wanted Machado, but they didn't close either. East Coast preference for the wife, nothing they could do. Although Machado was a bit weird. The, 'we had the best offer out there, but we can't match what he signed for" line was, is, and always will be bunk.
  6. Because they want to look like they know what they are doing and 9 figure contracts are a place the Sox haven't gone.
  7. Sox like quick strikes. Almost all of their big free agents were signed early. Boras likes to drag things out.
  8. Yep, but i wouldn't rip them later like you will if Rodon is suddenly healthy for a full season. .
  9. Yes he can be wrong. I don't ever want to see Rodon in a White Sox uniform, he wasn't any good when he was healthy- wrong. You're familiar with that type of wrong.
  10. It's easy for Boras to say he wouldn't have taken the QO now. To me it's simple, if he is healthy or can at least convince someone he is healthy, not offering it was dumb, but I don't think it was so cut and dried he wouldn't have taken it, and if he is healthy, he's worth it. If not, you were burned.
  11. It's just another 6k per game. I am sure they got a lot closer selling 2022 ticket plans with 2021 postseason access.
  12. I wonder if there might be a rush to get some players signed and traded before the lockout.
  13. Wait, I thought the problem was lack of home field advantage.
  14. Like who? The Sox are going to need a 1B soon. I kind of like what Vaughn brings to the table. I think those who have issues with him aren't looking at the entire picture. Gets drafted in 2019, no season for him in 2020 and in a pennant race in 2021 where he held his own playing positions he never played. He is going to be a stud.
  15. Yeah, get rid of all the young cheap players. Make the window as small as possible.
  16. Always be leery of anyone wearing a plain black baseball cap.
  17. There is clearly something going on with Rodons shoulder that makes the team think his 2021 campaign is not repeatable. If they are wrong,, they should be removed.. But they know a lot more than we do.. The QO is one way they wouldn't have had to negotiate with Boras, something they really have no interest doing. See Harper, Bryce.
  18. Kopechs innings situation next season will be similar to Rodons this year.
  19. Exactly. If Rodon was what he was before 2021, he would be bitching about bringing him back.
  20. Just an FYI. If Rodon had signed say with the Angels or a similar team last offseason, the odds are still overwhelming the Sox would have still won the division. And that is with Keuchel being useless and a ton of huge injuries.
  21. It would all depend on Rodons availability. I fully suspect they will bring in another starter.Kopech takes Rodons role, they basically are at where they were last year with the rotation. Maybe Keuchel bounces back a bit. He has before. The bullpen is going to need some work.
  22. If the Sox thought there was a really good chance Rodon could duplicate his 2021 season in 2022 I am sure they would have offered it.
  23. They know more about Rodons shoulder than anyone. If he throws 200 innings and is a Cy contender, the Sox should "re imagine" their front office. I am guessing he is a part time rotation guy.
  24. Rodon didn't get one per Passan.
  25. I certainly thought he would be better than he was but a little regression to the mean could be expected. If he had kept it up, it would have been one of theall time great seasons.
