  1. When I posed that question several years ago, the popular answer was not what you think. Of course those answering were frustrated Sox fans who had the one title. I don't know how many years Lynn has left. He has been solid. He too had TJS and missed 2016. At least the coaching staff in 2020 held Dunning in higher regard than Cease and Lopez, of course not much because as soon as he gave up a hit they had someone warming up. I think Dunning is going to be solid. Lynn has bee real good. He wasn't so good after the trade deadline last year. We will still. He's LaRussa's new Lamar Hoyt.
  2. Would be interesting if this guy wasn’t a phony.
  3. I’d prefer Eaton in this price range.
  4. Of course. The Sox shouldn’t spend money on a DH.
  5. I think if the Sox signed Brantley, they would move Eloy to RF.
  6. Hahn had hinted Vaughn almost got the call in 2020. Unless they trade him which would be stupid, or he gets hurt, he is going to be in Chicago in 2021.
  7. He had the same career OPS+ as Willie Mays and Frank Thomas.
  8. It just seems to me Joc will be the most expensive of the group where it’s a crapshoot who will be better, which seems to me for a team that apparently needs to count its shekels, the wrong move.
  9. One thing I read today was that Bill Veeck tried to bring him back to play with the 1977 Southside Hit Men. But the offer wasn’t enough.
  10. I am not pissed they won't sign Springer. I think I have mentioned before I would rather they spend the money on pitching. But Passau seems to indicate the Sox won't be spending that kind of money which is really sad. We have sat through trash all the while being told when the time comes the money will be there. The time has come and it also is the time where if you are looking to spend you will rarely have less competition , yet the Sox appeared poised to make their same "going for it" additions they always make. Please JR show me I am wrong.
  11. Isn't David Dahl a better option? He will be cheaper than Joc plus he has 3 years of control, and like Joc, is coming off a bad year but the bat seemed pretty good prior and he is only 26.
  12. He was the coolest baseball player of all time. The only guy who looked cool wearing a helmet on defense.
  13. Nomar Mazara had a higher WAR in 2020 than Joc.
  14. We were always led to believe that when this rebuild was over, the money would be there to sign the top guys. Here we go shopping the clearance aisle again.
  15. They play calling at the end is what killed the Bears. On Mitch’s fumble, Trubisky is not a good pocket passer. If you had to throw there, and I don’t know why you just don’t run, why not call a play with him rolling out, something he is better at? He has never been very good in the pocket. The linemen suck and Mitch has never been good at feeling a rush. I think the defensive problems have a lot to do with a Goldman not playing, and I think Mack is playing hurt. He is on the injury report every week.
  16. Do you know lifetime Nomar Mazara blows away JBJ vs. RHP?
  17. The Dodgers also did not want 2 of the 3 AL Cy Young finalists this year.
  18. When Bowden was a GM, he was well known for his ridiculous prices for his mediocre players.
  19. I agree. Expecting Katz to make these guys reliable immediately wouldn’t be fair. Last they played, the team had 2 starters they deemed reliable. You have to expect Keuchel to regress a bit as well.
  20. If the Sox had signed Machado, Moncada would probably be a RF right now. But I do agree, if the Phillies want to give Harper away, the White Sox line up would be historically great.
  21. One reason Cubs fans are so upset is because he is going to the White Sox. They wouldn't be half as upset if he was going to the Padres.
  22. Bill Walton is great in small doses, especially when he is just being Bill Walton and not the cartoon version of himself.
  23. That's a fair point. I would imagine if some are not yet, me being one, listening to a lot of podcasts, you probably will be in a couple of years. I just can't get over a guy going from the Cubs TV booth to the White Sox radio booth, and all to hopefully call a WS some day? There is something fishy here IMO. Did he apply for the job? How did they know he could be had and the Cubs would let him go? Did the Cubs tell him he was out so he took this job? It just doesn't seem to me this happened like they want you to believe it happened. In the end it doesn't matter but I woul be curious to know.
  24. I am pretty sure the Sox don't pay their radio guys. ESPN does. So I hope Merkin is wrong. OTOH, to get the Cubs TV PBP guy to come be your radio guy isa bit ofa coup especially not even one year after their new network that was going to make them trillions, started broadcasting.
  25. It's a radio announcer. Unless you are a truck driver, the minot league invites to spring training is bigger news.
