  1. The best thing about the rally tonight is I can look at the 20k in the arena and the hundreds of thousands who supposedly can't get in and are outside, and know I am smarter than all of them.
  2. According to the Washington Post, a lot of Germany’s success with the virus is based on US research which was blown off by the administration.
  3. Why would the White Sox have done that? That is crazy. Zero chance even if he was winning CY Young awards.
  4. Trump and Pence remind me of the Iraqi Defense Minister in the early 90's. Nothing to see here, the enemy is being defeated...as bombs are going off right behind him.
  5. So some Phillies have been working out at their spring training site in FL for several weeks. 5 players and a few staffers have tested positive for the virus. Not a good sign.
  6. It’s just fading away. It will be gone with a vaccine or not. And a lot sooner than people think. Believe me.
  7. I read two reasons. It could be that deaths are just lagging, as it can take time, and that it could be a younger crowd has acquired the virus and the death rate for younger people without compromising issues is generally lowere.
  8. The owners actually got the players to look bad. The just tell us when and where to report was so good. They played the owners, who were then stuck. Now they get a few more games, so more pay, expanded playoffs....and they have to then say , you know , how about 70 games? They now look like the group that doesn’t want a deal. Rob Manfred and Tony Clark, if either side has any sense, both have to go.
  9. FAUCI: "One of the problems we face in the United States is that unfortunately, there is a combination of an anti-science bias that people are, for reasons that sometimes are, you know, inconceivable and not understandable, they just don't believe science."
  10. I was reading that many in the industry think up to 300 players are going to be non tendered next offseason. If somehow you have little debt, cough JR,and not a big payroll, cough JR, getting a ton of talent for a very reasonable price can be done.
  11. I would think at this point it would be impossible to say they are extremely low transmitters of the disease, since so few have been tested and for the longest time you had to look like death warmed over to get a test. Especially when the kids were in school. A recent German study, which compared the viral load of nearly 4,000 people aged from one to 100 years old, added weight to this idea. It found that regardless of age, people appeared to shed a similar level of virus, suggesting they could be equally infectious
  12. I get how you say kids probably won't die from it, so go to school, but what about teachers, and librarians, and custodians, and bus drivers, and lunch ladies, and administrative staff.? What about kids bringing it home to their parents and grandparents? You said JB has done a terrible job protecting our most vulnerable. I disagree. He actually followed the science and was one of the few who actually met Trump's and Pence's task force requirement for re-opening. How is just acting like it isn't here protecting the most vulnerable?
  13. I just wonder what the logic is for this threat. I'm sure they have ban smoking from the buildings. Isn't that basically the same thing? When I first started working, there was smoking in the office. It was awful. Then that stopped. More recently, they cut it from restaurants and bars, and the initial feedback was everyone was going out of business. This is going to kill the industry, much like you get with anything seemingly more on safety's side than not during this pandemic. Now, no one cares. In face, even smokers get it. They don't even smoke in the homes anymore. They go outside. Watching some in cars is funny with all the windows open, their arm with their cigarette hanging out. Trying to blow the smoke away from the inside.
  14. Ken Rosenthal Retweeted Evan Drellich @EvanDrellich Source says no deal is close yet between MLB and MLBPA beccause the proposal was just sent by MLB. No agreement even in principle at this point.
  15. The big rally on Saturday is so crazy, and like gassing peaceful protesters for a photo op, this is just to massage an ego. If one person gets sick because of the rally, all the enablers should be held responsible.
  16. Masks always seem to be key, yet so many just refuse to wear them. If everyone did, we would be far better off right now.
  17. And I don't get why people refuse to wear masks. It's easy, and it shows others you actually give a fuck about something other than yourself.
  18. That just isn’t true. Depreciation and amortization is an accounting trick teams use to make a profit look like a loss. Here is an article that explains it better than I can here. But people do not spend billions of dollars on things that aren’t profitable. https://sabr.org/research/roster-depreciation-allowance-how-major-league-baseball-teams-turn-profits-losses
  19. I think people in Japan don't have as big of problem wearing a mask as they do here. Some people need to realize they actually look way better with the mask on than off.
  20. Buses and trains aren't only going to be a problem for students, but for commuters as well. The other thing is for downtown office workers, elevators. I start work pretty early, so in the morning, elevators aren't a problem for me. But if I go downstairs between 9 AM and 1 PM, the elevators are a nightmare now. When they don't let you pack them in, it will be worse. I used to work at the Sears Tower. I can only imagine how long you might have to wait there.
  21. They should quit reporting job losses. Then there would be no unemployment.
  22. It's so funny how some just don't want to see what is obvious and don't want to picture owners making large sums of money, but even then, people want it both ways. JR is unique because he owns the Sox and Bulls, and most of the people in the Bulls ownership group, also have a piece of the Sox. Yet, if anyone mentions, well, the Sox could take a hit because the Bulls made a ton of money, it gets shut down because they are 2 separate businesses. Yet, you seem to have no problem with the players having to take a cut to pay Ricketts' loan to rebuild Wrigleyville even though those are separate businesses. Like the writer for the Athletic said, they are capitalists when the money is flowing, but socialists when there is an issue.
  23. The Braves are the only MLB team owned by a public corp so their books are public. They made $94 million in 2018. They made $54 million last season, but after some accounting tricks, their $54 million profit was a $32 million loss. The owners have told the players the industry has never made $250 million profit in one season. Yet in 2018, the only public company of the 30 teams made 40% of that. Maybe it's just bad luck for the owners that the only team required to show their books made 40% of a figure they claim as an industry they have never done, but it's pretty obvious it's BS.
